Hey @LaTerrible, do the target popcorn makers have a temperature cutoff? Do you have any issues getting them hot enough, past 2nd-crack? And have you attempted any mods (e.g. extend chute/chimney with tin can) to it or do you just use them as is with the plastic lid in situ?
I have been using a cheapie model I bought someplace (probably K-mart or BigW but can't remember) and it's still going strong but the plastic top keeps warping/melting/bubbling and depending on the bean size sometimes they spin out of the curved lip mid-roast. Long story short, I've been looking around for a cheap replacement or two so I can experiment, and these are now even cheaper, if your local store has any they're now $5

I've not had any trouble reaching beyond second crack - I've not set any beans on fire but while testing the poppers upper limits I have burnt some beans beyond any reasonable taste! Similarly, I've not warped or melted any part of the plastic shield, though it does certainly get ridiculously hot by the third or fourth batch of beans.
FWIW, I did most of my testing with a very small type of green bean that had little chaff to deal with, so I was at times able to use the popper without the plastic cover at all.

Yeah I've never done more than 2 batches at once, you're brave doing 3 or 4!
Bought 2x of these last night @ $5 each and will get around to trying it out probably on the weekend.
