  • I wonder if the chocolate fountain is any good…

    • I bought one, it died on the second use. Though I could have just been unlucky…
Otherwise, it worked ok for a $15 chocolate fountain.

Bought one too, used once and it was impossible to clean…

        • yea I had one.. it's quite bad even though its $5….

        • Oh yeah, I forgot about that! I agree that was a significant con for it.

    • I couldn't find any at my local and they're N/A online. Oh well. I don't need it.

Most of these items are not available online in store only.. Op please update this and check if they have stock first.

Sweet! I need to buy a couple more cheap popcorn makers for roasting my coffee! First one hasn't died even after a few years of torture (only melted slightly) and it was $12. And this one looks like it might be moddable to fix a tin can chimney (to replace the melty-plastic-top and help keep the heat and coffee beans inside.

Popcorn air-poppers are the best, as long as they don't have a high-temperature safety cutoff. Anyone got one of these, or even better used it for coffee roasting? The features page is obv. broken, great to know that it's machine washable lol!!! :S

    • I don't roast coffee as yet but that is an interesting suggestion to take on board. I may have to rethink my caffeine fix; heard that 3-4 cups a day is recommended as a preventative method to deter heart attacks (please note: no confirmation given). Heard that on some television program but I cannot enlighten anyone further. Not surprised though; everytime they tell you something is bad for you these days there is some report telling you otherwise. My doctors have been encouraging me to cut back for years … My method to do this is just stop drinking coffee after midday (and drink tea!). Life is boring without your caffeine though.

      • Um, you might want to do a lot more reading. If you're drinking "normal black tea" then it's still got significant levels of caffiene in it.

Definitely listen to your doctor as well as do some non-infovertisement research yourself.

Good luck on your health journey, I'm not going to step into the caffeine debate, as an addicted user of the drug it's hard to comment fairly :p ;) :S

        • Yes I realise the black tea has just as high caffeine as the coffee … but I just cannot tolerate much of it so this is my method to cut back.

Yes, I am also an addicted user as well, but I don't drink nor smoke (nor gamble … I am so so good!) and I still think "a little of what you like is good for you." Good excuse hey! :o)

Ps. I also have low BP and good cholesterol readings. The coffee intake is the only thing my doctor has warned me off as I got older.

      • I'd be concerned about the plastic top half, but if you are going to install a chimney (the tapered steel Sapporo beer cans work well), it should be OK.

You may want to check the wattage of this item. I have a 900W target model (yellow) and it's been just right and doing about 3 batches per week for years. Higher wattage is not necessarily better, but if it is too low, you may not be able to roast in winter.

Do you by chance grow your own beans?

      • +1

Why, do you think we might know each other? ;)

Have done so in the past but not recently. The trees actually do the easy growing part and produce a coffee cherry, the tricky part is processing the cherries in multiple stages to end up with dried green beans for roasting. If doing it yourself expect to spend approximately 1/2 hour labor cost, per cup of coffee… it's certainly not cheap!

I'm no coffee snob, nor am I a green thumb. I'm just a gen-Yer who appreciates the stuff. Was just curious as to how far people go for their beans.

          @skywards:

I am a coffee (and beer) snob ;-)

I find that sourcing green beans from various places on them Internets and roasting every 3-4 days, as you need, gives the best results. The growers in high altitude locations in Africa and South America can grow beans with flavour that you will never achieve in Australia, no matter how hard you try. It's also cost effective.

Beer on the other hand… You have to travel for that.

@skywards: No worries, wasn't sure what picture to paint for you, so to speak ;)

We bought the tree on a lark for the garden, it looked like a nice plant, big shiny dark green leaves, pretty flowers. Planted it and then joked about making our own coffee once it flowered - so I looked it up and it all looked too hard. But then a few years later after the first flowering I got curious again and gave the whole thing a shot. I think we got 10 cups of coffee out of it lol, didn't taste amazing but I sure as hell was drinking every drop after putting in all that effort ;)

The coffee we eventually produced isn't cafe quality (probably because we don't fertilize or look after the tree properly) but it's pretty close and makes acceptable crema etc. It sure is an interesting experience and am still learning lots of stuff I didn't know about the processes of getting coffee from the tree into the cup, for sure.

e.g. the massive amounts of waste-water produced in the fermentation stage & alternate eco-friendlier methods of (mass-produced) coffee.

e.g. to be self-sufficient and have enough beans for 1 cup / every day of the year each person would need a mini-grove, something along the lines of 10+ mature coffee trees! Makes you think about how many trees you effectively "rent out" over in whichever country the coffee each of us drinks comes from.

The whole journey gave us an appreciation of why the boutique Australian grown & made producers have to charge such high prices for their particular product (especially if they're certified organic), they don't have the economies of scale nor the cheap labor that other mass producers in other countries can abuse :)

HTH. PM me for more info if anyone reading this is curious, or just look it up online, there's a few Australian blogs with some great beginner how-to info on the whole process.

        • @peteru: Good to know, thank you!

        • @fleetoiler: Thanks for putting in simpler terms of the process. I've read some of the process on the coffee snob forum and most of it goes over my head.

I took the last milkshake maker I could find from Target Melbourne CBD.

There was one chocolate fountain and quite a few shaved ice makers left.

  • Got the last Popcorn maker at Target Brisbane Myer Center . If someone genuinely wants a popcorn maker (rather than a coffee bean roaster like me) they had larger "Movie Stand" style popcorn makers for $10

  • Is Target Popcorn Maker,Milkshake Maker and Chocolate Fountain come with 12 month warranty?I can see any warranty status on the box and the instruction menu.

  • Coudnt find the pop corn in my store. But i saw the big one for $10 so i biught… Dont know why

  • The big one used to be $59 I think

  • I dropped in for the popcorn maker and ended up getting a bunch of lindt excellence and creation blocks instead for 1.92ea. Thanks!

Lol that's my other deal :)

  • At my local Target today quite a few Swisse vitamins were marked down to $1. Yes my tightarse friends - ONE DOLLAR!! Not all vitamins were marked down but the ones I bought weren't out of date until mid 2016. I got Mega B+, Hair Skin Nails, Stress Relief and Wild Neptune Krill Oil - although there might be more I missed. Today there was also a buy 3 pay for 2 deal as well but I think that finishes tonight. I would post my own deal but don't have the know how…and I am lazy…is there a vitamin for that? I will either be a zen gal with unclicky knees and a mane like a lion in a few months time or the same old crank, but at $1 a pop it's worth a shot.

  • Could I put Tequila/Vodka in the Snowcone Maker?

  • Kmart Innaloo has restocked both Popcorn Makers. Bought the big one and scanned as $8.50
