I see what you did there.

  • Hey OP, your link seems fuddled. Here's the correct link:

Luckily i just cancelled my Comm CC 2 weeks ago from last years $100 offer before they charged the annual fee. Time to renew application for another $100 cashback

    • Do banks normally charge fees in advance or in arrears?
      St George, CBA?

      • +1

$0 annual fee is waived first year. You wont be charged. ON your anniversary date, you get charged the fee

        • +14

          "Happy Anniversary!"

          -Bank

        • Just got charged an annual fee WTF????

        • I also got charged!!

    • Yep, me too.
Cancelled because I didn't want to start paying an annual fee.
      So glad I did.

  • woo free $100!

  • -2

I'm pretty happy with my Student Credit card with no annual fee :)

    • +10

It's not about being happy…it's about free money.

  • +2

for anyone who is apply for this offer, be sure to take a screenshot of the website. I lost out cause apparently they couldnt find the promo last year…

    • +1

Good idea that. It took me months of emails and phone calls to get my $100 cashback last year.

  • applied, though wasn't able to select between the $100 or the double points. maybe that comes later.

    • Depends on which credit card you've applied:

      $100 cashback offer
*Online applications for new Low Rate and Low Fee cards only excludes upgrades and migrations.

      **Double Awards Points offer
**Online applications for new personal Awards credit cards only excludes upgrades and migrations.

      • So existing customers don't get advantage of the offer? :(

  • I am still fighting for the $200 Flight Centre voucher promotion last time. I took a print screen, but CBA does not want to honour it. I had to lodge a case with the FOS. Let's see if it helps.

    • whats FOS, incase i need to lodge if they don't honour this?

        Financial Ombudsman Service

        • Franconian, how did the case go at the FOS? I was not granted the first year fee waiver so I am considering using this service!!

        • +1

@Frugalmeister: Successful, Lodge a case with the FOS.

  • how do you get it with $0 annual fee? spend 1000 before you close the account?

    • +1

"We'll waive your annual fee for the first year" - that's how.

      • $48 4^ annual fee

        1. If you are a new customer who activates their card before 7 March 2015, the lower annual fee will apply for the first year.
        • +3

I think @easternculture might have made a mistake including the low rate card as being $0 as there is no lower annual fee listed and it only refers to point 4 in the T&Cs. The low fee card definitely has it's fee waived as indicated by points 1 and 2 in the T&Cs.

        • @Berecca13: I can confirm this is the case. The no annual fee is not for the "Low Rate" card. If you call Commbank, they should be able do switch you over to the other card and give you a refund. Well they did for me but I had to call them up. Phone: 13 2221

How does one go about converting the $100 into actual cash in hand?

    • +7

1 Stick your card into an ATM slot
2 Enter your PIN (make sure jv isn't watching)
      3 Select withdraw option
      4 Select or type $100
5 Retrieve $100 with your hand
      6 You're done! (don't forget your card)

7 Extra credit: donate $50 to someone or something, and feel awesome

      • +1

Are there no fees for withdrawal on credit card?

        • Shh!

      • Sorry, I meant is there a way to do it without incurring the cash advance fees?

        • go to woolies?

Nice reminder that I should get a CC while I still have a job (holiday job during university break which is just now finishing) in the past I didn't activate my card soon enough and when I got around to calling them I was… "in between jobs" and they knocked me back of course. The clerk seemed unable to comprehend a young person without a job using a CC responsibly just to start a credit rating. At any rate, thanks! Just signed up.

    • +1

Doesn't build a credit rating in this country, so the clerk is more informed than you are.

  • 90 days, thats a LONG LONG delay! Its also not good that so many posts note problems with CommB keeping up their end of the bargin too

    • I personally have always received the cashback from CBA for these offers in the past.

    1. Currently $90 ($89 from 7 March 2015) or $0 for eligible customers.

Who would be eligible to get the annual fees waved?

    • We’ll waive your annual fee for the first year, and then continue to waive your annual fee each subsequent year as long as you spend at least $10,000 in the previous year (on purchases and cash advances only).

Assuming you are talking about Low Fee Gold credit card.
Other cards have a limit of $1000 and different annual fee.

  • I am an existing customer of CBA and just tried to apply for one the credit card listed and got declined, will this affect my credit history. If so, will need to call them & ask for the reason.

  • So we have to spend $1000 with the card? I'd rather opt out then

  • received my card.

  • Just got my card. You need to use their new lock card function and make a purchase within the first 30 days to be eligible for the promo.

What concerns me is today I got charged a $59 ANNUAL FEE?? WTF????

  • got charged the $59 annual fee as well.

    • Me too. I called up comm bank and apparently the fee waiver is only for the LOW FEE CARD and not the LOW RATE CARD.

      • Happened to me too. My fault for not reading the fine print properly but the description needs to be changed on this deal. I wont neg because $100 cash back is still greater than $59 fee but if I had realised this from the beginning I wouldn't have applied.

    All the very best,

    • The $100 will be credited to the credit card account or your existing CBA personal accounts?

      • as at today 27.03.2015 , the $100 cashback has not been credited. Will wait and see.

        • The cashback finally received on the credit card account 31 Mar 2015

          Date Transaction details
          Open help
          Amount
          31 Mar 2015 CASHBACK +$100.00

And someone may want to know whether you can take the $100 out of Credit card ? Yes, you can but will charge an interest rate like an cash advance.

I tried and with the following "red" warning message.
Transfers from a credit card are processed as a cash advance. You will be charged interest at the cash advance rate from the date of the transaction and a cash advance fee will also apply.

In conclusion. I have successfully get $100 cashback around a month. Simply use the card to pay for the bill. Thanks.

  • Asking for help.
I currently have a student low fee credit card and it is about to expire.
If I cancel my current card, am I eligible for this offer?

    • I think you can try anyway as your card is about to expire. And report to everyone if you can get the $100 cashback.

  • I already have a cba card of good limit. If I switch to this new card, will I still be eligible?

    • I think it is not eligible for you. Please refer to T&C above :
Online applications for new Low Rate and Low Fee cards only exclude upgrades and migrations….

Has anyone got the $100 credit yet ? I have received notification, but the credit hasn't been applied yet. They charged annual fee and now I have to argue with them that it is their offer to waive first year annual fee.

    • I have not received $100 and no annual fee has been charged. Yes you are right, talk to the them to get your annual fee waived.

    • I applied for the low fee version and got stung with an annual fee as well. I talked to commbank and they said the fee waiver applies AFTER the first year, which basically means they are not honouring their first year fee waiver. I am following the steps on the FOS website so I can get them to register and investigate. I encourage others to do this too, it is totally unacceptable and fraudulent for them to advertise a fee waiver and then slap an annual fee and pretend the fee waiver doesn't apply. If anyone has any tips for me, they'd be more than welcome :)

      • +1

        Hi Frugalmeister,
That is exactly what they said to me too. Please let me know how you go with Fos.
        Thanks

        • No worries yht. For anyone else in this situation, the first thing the FOS recommends is to lodge an official complaint using the bank's internal dispute resolution process. The bank has 45 days to respond, if you lodge a case with the FOS before this is up, they will register the case and contact the bank asking them to resolve the issue. I'm also contacting commbank again, cos it seems different people are getting different outcomes depending on who they speak with.

        • yht, I ended up using commonwealth bank's internal complaint dispute resolution process, basically I just submitted a complaint using their webiste. It worked - got it refunded within 2 business days of them calling me to resolve it :)

        • @Frugalmeister: The bank said that the promotions ends Feb and I applied and approved early March, so missed out the offer. WTF ??? Just wondering if anyone still have the screenshot of the promotion ?
          Thanks heaps

  • Just got charged for annual fees yesterday, have already made few purchases and used all of the lock n limit features. I haven't received any notifications at all

  • Finally, I got the 100 cash back today. Happy Easter. Now need to find a way to withdrawn it without fee.

  • I applied for a student credit card with a low limit (and no annual fee).
I received the $100 last week. I got stung with a $2.50 "cash advance" fee when I attempted to transfer it. All closed now :)

  • Haven't received any cash back yet. :(

  • anyone receive cash back yet?

  • I also haven't received my cash back yet.

  • Neither have I

  • Reopening comments by request (commenting here so it doesn't auto close at midnight).

  • I was pretty lucky with this. I had it confirmed in writing that I was eligible for the cashback offer, only to later then be told that they had made a mistake and I was NOT eligible, as I had applied for my new credit card one day before promotions began. However, they still gave me $100 into my every day access account. :) So I'm uber happy with Commbank at the moment!

"My name is Dianne your Online Specialist for today and thank you for your email in regards to your credit card campaign offer.

'Name', I hope this email finds you well and I am sorry to read that you have not received the cash back offer of $100.00 on your credit card.

I have contacted our Credit Card Helpdesk and they have advised the cash back offer for $100.00 will be made to your credit card account within 15 business days."

    • Which email address did you send your "email enquiry" to? I haven't received mine and it's been 3 months!!!

      • I have sent it through NetBank, quite hard to find,
Login, click on Help, Under contact us, click Personal banking tab. Then email us, NetBank link.
        This direct link may work, once logged in;
        https://www2.my.commbank.com.au/netbank/Fss/CCI/GenericConta…

still haven't received the cash back yet, though hasn't been 15 business days yet.

  • Is anyone aware if this offer was extended to 31/05/2015? I'm quite adamant that it was but did not take any screenshots when I received the offer through NetBank earlier in May.

In any case, I applied for the Low Fee card but am very unhappy with CommBank over how they handled my application, causing unnecessary delays (telling me I needed to do something and call them when it turns out that I didn't need to do anything), resulting in a delayed approval (conveniently after the offer had expired). When I called them to ask if I'd still be eligible for the cashback, they said that I had made a mistake and that the offer only applied to the Low Rate card to begin with. They also said that they never offer cashback for the Low Fee card as it was a cheap card, so I quoted them this page. Nevertheless, they were unswayed and said I was ineligible for the offer which pissed me off so I cancelled the Low Fee card out of disgust.

Hope someone from CommBank customer service reads this feedback.

I may even take all my other banking to Westpac.

  • Does anyone have a screenshot of the webpage with cashback promotion taken in February or beginning of March?
Customer service keeps telling me that the cashback amount was only $50.

      • Yes, but it doesn't include Low Fee cards now.

    • I am confused by this, because I distinctly remember it as being $50 back in March, and you just had to activate Lock, Block or Limit features to qualify.
      So I didn't make a purchase within 30 days.
Now they say I don't qualify because of that.
Problem is I cannot find a screenshot of this.
If anyone has a reference to a $50 promotion I would be grateful for it.

      • I think $50 was a different promotion just for opening the card, there were no other requirements. I remember seeing it in Netbank.

  • got dammit, when I followed up where mine was she now directly me to the latest offer, not the one in feb 2015.

    edit: found the screencap here;
    http://thydzik.com/Limited%20Time%20Online%20Offers%20For%20…

    dated 27 feb 2015

    • My response to customer service;

      Dear Dianne
Sorry, you are quoting a promotion I did not apply for.
The promotion I applied for was the one I saw on 27 February 2015.
If you viewed the details of my credit card you would see that I made the first purchase on 7 Mar 2015.
I have used the "lock, block or limit functionality" and have the confirmation email "card security settings have been updated" on the 9th March 2015.
      The wording of the offer stated;
"1. Apply online for any personal Low Rate or Low Fee credit card."
"2. … use any one of the Lock, Block or Limit features…
"3. Make a purchase using your new card…
"(The $100 cash back will be credited within 90 days of completing the steps )"
I have completed all three of the above steps and have the supporting evidence to prove this.
From the 9th March 2015 to now the 19th June 2015 is 102 days, which is past the 90 days that was stated on the offer.
Can you please confirm when I will be receiving my $100 cashback?
      Regards,

      • Thanks for the link!
I got another response from their customer support today where they are telling me that now I need to contact some "cards help desk".
I guesss what this really means is "we are not giving you $100, stop writing us".

        • Financial Ombudsman or the ACCC for false advertising.
I'll be doing that if I get another generic reply.

      • +1

here is their response, wait another 2 weeks.
"I am sorry to read that you have still not received your $100 cashback; and I have contacted the Credit Card Helpdesk and they have escalated this request to have the cashback applied to your credit card as soon as possible.

Travis, if the funds have not been received within 10 business days I ask that you please contact the Credit Card Helpdesk directly by calling 1800 634 700, they are available from 8:30am to 8:00pm, Monday to Friday, where a Specialist will investigate this further for you.

        Sincerely,

        Dianne"

  • Finally received the $100 cashback!

  • Called the Credit Card Helpdesk, but again was told that my Low Fee card is not eligible for $100 cashback.

    • I would email them once more and state you have all the supporting evidence to prove it.

if they still don't respond, take them to the financial ombudsman.
