  • any deals with reel and line ?

    JV has a tackle shop?

  • IMHO I can only see this being useful for ice fishing and possibly kayak fishing.
(as for the other claims on the page they seem to be a bit embellished)

I cannot see myself casting a light spinner more then 3m away. And if you get "that big one" you probably only have 10cm of "tip movement" to play, with this rod. I think the "Instant fishermann" despite being a bad choice of rod, is a better choice then this.

  • +1

To the doubting Thomas; out there.

Truthfully, no one I have ever spoken to has ever had a good word to say about the "instant fisherman" and to place the EMMROD range in the same category is pretty insulting. Over the last few months I have sold and used the EMMROD compact range all over Gippsland and have only ever had glowing reports. Also, I guarantee you that I can outcast almost any one using a 6' or 7' spinning rod with either the EMMORD Kayak King or the EMMROD Packe rod. The best fish I have caughht 9I'm primarily land based and fish the Gipplsand lakes and rivers) is a 66cm flathead on a 66ch Emmrod Kayak King.

The guarantee offered on these rods is provided by the US Manufacturere not simply by the distributor. The whole EMMROD fishing rod range is built for strength, durability and versatility. If you've never used on - don't rubbish it. If you've ever used one, you'll rarely go back to a standard glass or carbon spinning rod again. Check out the website at jvtackle.com and view the videos for some EMMROD Action.

The reel in the youtube videos are really tiny ( I assume a size 1000). As soon as you have a bigger reel, the coils are too close to the reel. The number of rods sold, even if true, still does not mean that they are any good. And you might outcast a 7' rod, if you use 4lbs, braid with a reel spooled to the max vs. a 20lbs mono partially spooled reel.
And with the price of almost 100$ you can get a real fine Shimano Combo, with carbon rod AND reel.
Flatheads don't fight. I'd love to see how the rod handles a Fat Salmon or a Kingfish.
Send me one, if you are so sure. If I like it I pay for it, if not I'll send it back ( at my expenses ).

  • To Cameldownunder
If you have nothing positive to say, can't actually identify the reel, have never used an EMMROD rod. Then keep your negative thoughts to your self. Real criticism from people KNOWLEDGEABLE will be happily discussed. Rank nonfactual comments only show your lack of knowledge.

Please find something else to dump on until you know what you're talking about!

Maybe JV dose have a tackle shop….

I caught a 66cm flathead close to spit bridge in my on a k-mart, JV rod, and a brook trout with a 10$ silstar tele rod, and a plastic reel. Does that make them good rods? No.
I have been fishing since 30 years. So I might know a few things of two.
Put a video on YouTube, where you actually cast more then 20m with a light spinner, and where the real distance is visible. show us how you land a 70cm kingfish with that rod, and I believe you. Statements without proof are worthless.
Put your money where your mouth is, and let ME test one of the rods for you.
I'll bet you're too scared of the verdict.

    • If you're hiking somewhere, and doing some lightweight camping, your $10 Kmart rod and reel combo may not be the ideal solution. This may not be the best rod in the world, but I'm sure it has its applications. Maybe you should buy one, and review it, after all it has a money back guarantee.

      • A shimano carbon telescopic rod would be better solution in this case. Unless there is really no room to cast (branches and bushes ). Then the EMMROD is probably better, and also better then a handline.

    • So expert fisherman who buys $10 Kmart rod or reel telling us to believe him now…

      • The 10$ rod, was the Silstar tele ( please do read more carefully before replying ). Was in Jindabyne with the ski gear, not with the fishing gear, and going fishing was last moment decision, that's why the 10$ rod. But hey, I did catch the brook trout, so I must know something about fishing. In regards to the Jarvis Walker ( sorry for having written 'JV' ), I did not have much money at that time. So better a crappy rod then no rod. No need to believe me, but make sure you get enough information for the OP rod, before you believe the marketing speech.

  • I now wouldn't sell a rod or reel to Cameldownunder to save his (or her) life.
Stick with your $10 rods and reels. Don't bother me with your comments. I've seen his posts and all he does is whinge.

I knew you wouldn't. You cannot handle critic. I also have good rods and reels: Shimano Baitcasters, Ugly sticks, D.A.M beast master …
You have read my other posts. Good. If it looks like I only winge, that's because there are a lots of fraudsters, wannabies and cheaters posting on this site pretending to have "special" deals.
Instead of "slamming" my comments. Prove us the rod is good. The few videos of this rods on youtube are pathetic.

Oh wow, didn't know I was dealing with such a seasoned Oz'bargainer. You have been active since ZERO days.

    • Sounds like a win/win.

I remember using my dad's one as a kid (or an earlier type model) and it was pretty good and caught some fish with it by the pier. However, I am not sure about forking out almost 100 bucks for this to be honest. Its a novelty item, but crap, there's plenty of better rods out there for this type of price range ("JUST A ROD"). This is talking sensibility into this.

BTW.. Not going to vote down on this - but this post is seriously just advertising and wouldnt even begin to call it "Bargain".

  • The concept behind these is brilliant. The Marine Grade Stainless Steel Coil Spring Rod ends give the rod the whip, and the single welded Marine Grade Stainless Steel Rod Tip Eye reduces line friction through multiple rod eyes and allows the to cast as far as a 6' - 7' spin rod Without the need to heave the rod. A side cast movement is all that's needed to get great distance and good accuracy. That plus a little practice.

What is it worth knowing that the EMMROD Compact fishing rod is guaranteed against breakage for life? If tou hand the rod down to a grand child the rod is still guaranteed. They are that strong.

The EMMROD Compact Spinning Rod takes spinning reels up to 4000 series. So they're designed for estuary fishing taking fish up to 30lb. The EMMROD Gulf Master is specifically designed for taking larger off shore fish over 30lb. They are not designed as a game rod. They don't claim that at all. The EMMROD Strem Master fly rod will cast 60' and will go into territory that no other fly rod will go.

The EMMROD Casting rods, The Combat, Pack Rod, Gulf Master, are designed to accept bait caster reels and Trolling reels up to 4000 series. Again the reel selected should match the Casting rod an d tip you are using and that depends on the size fish you're targeting.

EMMROD Rods are designed to be used of a pier, in a boat (either using the Kayak King, the Mountaineer, or the Gulf Master, depending on fish being targeted), on any river or stream, lake or dam (especially effective when you want to get into areas where you would likely tangle and snap a standard spin or casting rod Sure, they're great in a Kayak, a canoe, but suit anyone wanting a rod that will never break, stores in on itself, and goes anywhere you want to go.

Does the EMMROD replace every rod on the market - Of course not. But they can replace most of the rods you use today.

    Cheers.
