No thanks. $15 is a bit to expensive for this service.
Also the approved phone and tablet list is too limited, neither my mobile or any of our tablets are compatible.

    • neither my mobile or any of our tablets are compatible.

As will be the case for many (who don't have iJunk.)

      For tablets it says this:

      Android versions:
      Jellybean 4.1 - Lollipop 5.0

It's not quite clear but I'm assuming you need one of the listed devices and not just any tablet running >4.0.

      • After that it then lists the models which are all Samsung.

    • You know you can just edit the build.prop file to change what your device appears as, right?

Rooting is not exactly mum and dad friendly. (Not that kind of rooting!)

  • +1

I wouldn't use it if it where free.
Not jokeing i got 3 months free from chrome cast and used it for 5min to have a look then canceled subscription and never logged back in.

Not much better then quickflix shitty content too expensive when compared to netflix or even stan.

    • Same here. I subscribed by redeeming my chromecast offer. Browsed for a few minutes than decided it was an utter waste of time.

  • Anyone used this service compared to stan and perhaps netflix through vpn?

  • when are these streaming companies going to get appletv apps? using a smartphone or tablet to send media to chromecast sucks

    • +1

My guess is that Foxtel doesn't want Presto to cannibalise their regular cable subscription.

No Amazon FireTV support (yet). No deal!

Wonder if it works on Roku's.

    • +1

FireTV isn't even sold in Australia, what makes you think in ANY way that they'd have any desire to develop an application for it?

      • -3

Because ~1% of people with a media subscription in Australia use Amazon Prime. https://getpocketbook.com/blog/netflix-australia-2-stats-sca…

Some of those users likely have a Fire TV.

If you're trying to compete with Netflix/Hulu/etc - your product/service should be available on all devices they support.

If your product/service doesn't work on the primary device a user uses, they aren't likely to use your product/service.

        • +1

So you're saying that a fraction of 1% of people who pay a subscription for media use a device not sold in this country and you want it fully supported?

Totally absurd, the market is basically nonexistent for the device in Australia.

          I can imagine it now..

"Added support for Amazon FireTV, to purchase just sign up to Amazon, sign up to ShipItTo, create your ShipItTo address, currency convert from USD, purchase and ship to your ShipItTo address, when the bill comes for the international shipping, pay that and install the App! Easy!

          Won't happen.

        • you have some innovative logic..keep it up

        • -3

@XeKToReX: Already done all the above, can't install the app. So my only issue is with Presto's product.

Wasn't this posted yesterday, then removed? Why do you want/need CC details for a 1 month FREE trial?

    • +1

Today's spam deal from a brand new "fresh" member but :P

  • +2

Hard to imagine that they don't normally offer a trial.

Trials (even short ones) seem to be the norm for these sorts of services. Netflix, Stan and Quickflix all offer trials (of varying lengths).

This doesn't strike me as a deal at all.

    • Thanks for your comment.
I can confirm, this account managed solely by the Presto team. As a rep we will share offers or deals that we currently have in market.
It has been brought to our attention that this was shared by CompareTV. Our arrangement with CompareTV is based purely on referral traffic from their website only. In this instance, you (OzBargainers) are going straight to Presto – so no commission is taken by CompareTV at all as they aren't linked to the coupon code.
Agreed, we are certainly looking into the opportunity of unique offers for OzBargain.
      Thanks for the feedback.

      • a promocode "CTVPRESTO" sounds like it might be issued to a site with the initials CTV though and thus still be tracked and commissions issued. Call me a cynic but having worked on an incentive program in the past, commission/prizes makes some people do strange things

  • Answers still haven't been supplied. Where is this publicly advertised by presto. Are you associated with presto or comparetv. Yesterday you lied to everyone and confirmed you were associated with CTV.

I think this is still a big affiliation which is not being declared.

If you've got a good deal and can offer something unique to the ozbargain community that's great, but be honest.

  • Woah! Its 15 bucks now? It was $10 when I had my 2 months chromecast trial.

Didn't do it for me, from the limited device support to the lame replies on the support forum, felt like a half hearted effort from Foxtel that they didn't really want to spend the money on.

If I was a conspiracy theorist I would say it was designed to fail so yankee Murdoch can wade in saying "See, even when we provide a legit alternative Australians continue to download illegally. They are chronic pirates and we need tougher laws to stop them" But I'm not.

    • +1

AFAICS, It's $10 for tv (or movies?) or $15 for both.

  • +3

Had the free trial with Chromecast and was thoroughly unimpressed. very limited choice of content, and streaming is ridiculously slow. i recently completed a free month's trial with Stan and that service is much, MUCH better.

  • Had a look at the list of shows available. There's maybe 100 shows available for streaming? They should be offering everything in their Foxtel catalogue to be competitive with Netflix. If that was the case I might sub as the extra $5 to get movie a year ahead of netflix would be worth it.

  • Presto- will you launch in other countries? I m not sure how you are going to compete in aus with such inferior content, poor streaming quality and limited device compatibility.
To top it all, charging $15!

How much does the FREE Trial normally cost ?
