Melbourne Convention Centre -Free Entry, Free Food + Drinks, 2 Futurist Speakers | Feb 26

200

I went to this last year and not only did they have unlimited amounts of amazing food (+ drinks) but the speakers were very interesting. Well worth attending. Lots of different kinds of food on offer. My pic of the Asian food on offer. I also had some Wagyu sliders and some dessert.

I can't remember if they checked tickets but may as well register for free on their website.

11:45AM - 1:30PM

Chat with like-minded people from the industry and enjoy a complimentary taste of MCEC's award-winning food.

2015 speakers are:

Chris Riddell

Chris is a true evangelist in today's disrupted world and a globally recognised digital strategist, technology futurist and progressive business thought-leader.

Very vague but he's been on the Project a couple of times.

Rachel Botsman

Rachel Botsman is the global thought leader on the power of collaboration and sharing through technology to transform the way we live, work and consume.

She was on The Checkout a couple of years ago. She covers some fairly interesting topics that OzBargainers may find appealing.

Could turn into a Ozbargain convention just for the free food!

"global thought leader" I always love these titles.

"Scotty is the global thought leader in discount and bargained good websites"

  • How are they giving away free tickets with free food and drink!? Is there a catch?!

    • +1

No catch. You go in and can hear the speakers, sitting wherever you like. By the time speakers are finished the food & drinks are ready to be served. You could of course skip the speakers and just go for the food. My picture was taken at 1:57PM so I'd probably rock up around 2. No need to talk to anyone.

It's basically an exhibition for the exhibition centre to entice companies/trade shows/whatever to do their exhibitions there.

      • That sounds pretty awesome!! Was it packed last time you went?

        • The auditorium was huge. We had a whole section to ourselves listening to the speakers.

The lobby area had quite a good amount of people in there however no lines for food as there is no money being exchanged. They had lots of seats and tables to eat at as well.

        • @neil: thanks for the tips! :) free dim sims is just what I need!

Now that's food for thought, for the thought leaders of food…

  • Great food last year and a good event overall. Well worth it if you have time.

  • Interesting event, unfortunately taking many day off this month to beg for a 2-hour lunch break :P Have fun if you're attending.

Watched the introduction video, Chris Ridell uses too much repetitive hand gestures, losing its effectiveness. Rookie mistake for someone who's a speaker. But anyway, this is about the food, right?
