You beat me to the comment, usually that sort of thing earns you hate from some members.
I wasn't meaning to be negative about this camera, 3MP is still good for most purposes.
I use my C910 for when I want to scan a heap of paperwork. Much faster than a scanner, just use the camera function of the Logitech software. Even at 3MP resolution, that captures an A4 page at ~180DPI resolution - easily readable, with reasonable file sizes for the pictures produced.
much cheaper it's successor, the c930e
really??? those pricks.
By the way, the c920 has broken windows 8.1 drivers. My head gets chopped out of position of my neck, even at 480p. Also I can't use the widescreen mode.
I don't think they're going to update the drivers either as it has been like this for a long time, ever since 8.1 came out.
edit: technically, what I think is going on is to get 1080p 30fps the camera must use its built in hardware H.264 encoder to squeeze it through USB2 to the computer, but this part is broken on windows 8.1, so if you manage to get this option selected then it won't work properly and you can't just reduce the frame rate to 15fps like on the c910.
Maybe they'll fix it when windows 10 comes along and they realise everyone can't use their webcam, but so far logitech have gave NO (profanity) at all. This isn't even a 720p webcam at this point.
I use windows 8.1 with this camera and have ZERO problems with it.
The drivers work perfectly.
You might want to try a different USB port or check that you have properly installed the drivers.
I've tried it on at least two different fresh install windows 8.1 computers. It definitely "works", but not in widescreen, and even when it works it has subtle tearing.
It also loses all of your settings when you unplug it.
If you googled c920 windows 8.1 you'll see this is a widespread issue.
Well it is NOT an issue for me using windows 8.1 so I don't know what else to tell you.
It works in WIDESCREEN with no problems in Windows 8.1.
It has NO TEARING issues under Windows 8.1.
If you google almost any software product you will find some people having problems, doesn't mean the software product itself (or in this case the drivers) are faulty.
Good price for a great webcam https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/110579
I just bought two Microsoft Lifecam Studio's today, Officeworks happily price matched PC Diy's price.

Also let's not forget $40 cashback from Microsoft

its why ive been holding out for a deal like this
@spiderbite88
Yep thats the exact video that ruined this camera for me when I was trying to get it for the cashback!
I think you may have just miss the $40 cash back from Microsoft. The cashback ended on 1st Feb.
yep cashback requires a invoice to be dated 1st Feb or older. I got mine on last day of cashback Saturday. Ends up being $18 so cant complain.
How to fix some of the limitations with the LifeCam Studio -
guess I didn't read the website properly haha….all I can blame is being procrastinating for 3 weeks, but I've been using it and so far so good, at least no nagging from gf about video quality
I've got one of these, its biggest limitation is that it's capped at 30FPS so it's no good for headtracking stuff. Fantastic picture with a true 1080p look, most of the 1080 camera's don't look 1080, due to crappy lens or sensor I guess. Big plus is that it doesn't have the hyperactive zoom glitch of the MS cameras.
thanks! have you tried using it with Mac? apparently it is in fact compatible with additional tools (there is one third-party and one from Logitech now as well)
Nup no apple products in this house :)
opposite here :) anyway just got my camera, if anyone is wondering it does work with Mac, was recognised OK by Skype and Photo Booth (didn't do any further testing though). Also there is application in Mac Store called Logitech Camera Settings (by Logitech) that allows advanced management of the camera (zoom, pan, light, colours etc)
In case anyone is wondering, I believe the sensor in this camera is 3 megapixels. Logitech go out of their way to conceal this, probably because its predecessor (the C910) was 5 megapixels. Staticice shows the C910 is still available at one store, for AU$100.
