  • Good find, but they went quick - all sold out :)

    • Sure about that? It says "in stock" next to the item, and when I tried to buy it using paypal I went all the way to the 'confirm payment' screen ( I didn't click it as I'm still thinking about it, just checking to see if it was available)

      • Said sold out when I checked last night.

  • New ones are $1299 and with Employee Purchase Programs come out even cheaper. I know the processor speed isnt much different but larger HDD on the new ones and I thought the battery got a bit better.

    • +1

But the new ones don't have firewire. That is essential for some.

      • Think about it:

For me, at least, I've got my MacBook 2 years ago. I have never used that firewire port and I don't have anything that will plug into the firewire port. When I bought my external HD I had an option of choosing the FW connection, but that costs a lot more compared to USB.

As for other stuff like video and audio input if you're a serious professional that needs to edit stuff, you wouldn't do that on a MacBook would you? At least on something with a bigger screen and processing power.

  • The new one costs $1229 on student discount, $72 more than this one :P You get free shipping too from Apple's site. And also if you're a uni student (which the student discount applies to you), and you buy it next year, you'll get a free iPod too, with their back to uni promotion.
