Was about to buy, but got to checkout and found there's no PayPal offered! hmmm. Not sure I want to risk my CC for a 61c adapter.

    • +7

I've used my CC with aliexpres about 100 times. No problems so far.

      • +2

I used my CC with them 3 times, and then the number was stolen. I suspect it was them, as I don't use that card for much else.

        • +1

only used mine on paypal and one time on aliexpress……
then got a whooping 3000 dollars item

but yeah, not using CC online anymore

      • Congratulations! You got lucky.

    • +1

I've used my CC with aliexpress too without any problems.
I'm more concerned about whether the adapter clips in firmly (or has a Tikbro-hold).

    • used my Mastercard literally dozens of times on Aliexpress with no problems. It's a reputable company.

      • +2

Aliexpress will refund your money if anything goes wrong. They don't release money to the seller until you receive it.

        • Erm… how would they know whether you received it or not?

        • +1

@GnarlyKnuckles: You tell them, they have a similar feedback/reporting/status system to ebay.

        • @GnarlyKnuckles:
On an individual case, they don't, but I imagine if someone were frequently saying things had not shown up then Ali would be a little less excited about allowing orders.

          @f4te:
More specifically, this is the bit of the above post that I do not think is correct, because it would not be a practical/viable system:

"They don't release money to the seller until you receive it."

        • @GnarlyKnuckles:

It's correct. They act as an escrow service. I've "bought" a couple of things previously that turned out to be bogus listings (price too good, should have known) but they money was back on my card within 2 days each time. And the legit purchases I've made have all been very smooth. They don't steal your card information.

I'm with Altomic… Used my CC many many times… Though, I was frustrated to find out AliExpress won't accept PayPal, and I would prefer them to…

bought 2 of these last time but still haven't use them yet…oh ozbargain!!!

  • Thanks altomic

  • Anyone used with Galaxy nexus?

    • You need to be more concerned about the software than hardware. Worked fine with my GN but I needed root and Chainfire's mounting app.

  • I noticed that my sons Sony Z3 came with a OTG cable.

  • What can it be used for?

    • +4

you can add usb drives to the phone and read and write to it - transfer music etc. no pc needed.

      • Cheers - How would you choose what files or does it automatically transfer all files?

        • +1

          you choose.
"file manager" prog on your phone.

        • It's literally the same as plugging a USB drive into your computer. However, your phone needs to be pre-configured to support OTG (google your model) or rooted with the appropriate software. All pretty easy to do.

    • +1

The Sony Z2 also comes with one. Great for plugging in a playstation control for console like gaming with games like modern combat 5.

      • It has to be via cable and not bluetooth (strange seeing the controller is bt)

    • download app …connect to DSLR and use as a remote screen to ensure those stable and remote shots.

  • Does this work with other devices that support OTG?

    • +3

it's a micro USB connection so it should work. all my china droids (3) work with one of these.

  • GS4/5 compatible?

    • It's just an adapter. Yes.

    • can confirm it will work with galaxy s5

  • Will this work with other devices which support micro USB OTG?

May be but you will have to read above comments to find out.

Looks useful but for the sake of 39c I will buy one of the hundred or so listed on eBay for $1 with free postage.
    eg: 201125573344, 351278208298, 200988663817, 251616948525, 271705472985, 261669071859 (eBay item IDs)

I have bought from AliExpress many times with no problems, however this was back when I had a debit card just for online stuff. I still trust the company but not so keen to add my debit card that my pay goes into!
Happy junk buying! Might get one in white and another in black because reasons

      39cents - you've got it wrong.

an Ozbargainer would see it as "over 50% more expensive"

      • haha true true, nice deal thanks

  • Are these OTG adapters compatible with HDD, and play off them well?. Looking at getting one for my tablet.

    • +1

You'd probably need a powered USB for that (assuming your HDD doesn't come with a power cable). Don't own one of these so don't take my word.

      • +1

can confirm that I have an OTG cable and portable HDD won't work with it. Not enough power.

        • Thats a shame, thanks for replying anyway.

        • Depends on the device
I have a windows 8.1 tablet which can power HDDs through it's OTG port. Quite a powerful little device though, wouldn't expect it to be the case on really any phones.

        • @dyl: Well I was thinking of putting into my Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet, but given it's low power consumption I'm guessing it won't work.

  • I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 tablet, will this device allow me to plug a hard drive or whatever into my tablet?

    Thanks !

  • MSY have these for $2 if anyone is worried about the lack of Paypal
i literaly picked one up yestrday and can confirm it lets me use both my wireless mouse and keyboard a well as my external hdd (powered not portable) on my galaxy s5 and my galaxy tab3 8"
