I have confirmed eligibility with Harvey Norman live chat.

My view:
Yes, it's slow and not much space. Good as a spare laptop for web browsing or for the kids use.
Takes a bit of effort and wait for the movie pass but for less than $300 can't really beat this.

Check out the screen in store before purchasing, it is less than Stella.

For what you are paying you cannot be too picky on the screen or the bad touchpad. For a Kids scholl PC they are perfect.

    Sure you can

Not 11 inch but I would rather a Dell venue pro or Toshiba Encore with a wireless keyboard.

  • You won't get the movie pass .. that is for when you purchase office, not buy a PC that comes with office 365 in the box
    https://www.microsoft.com.au/officemoviepass/Home/Terms
First term: Purchase Microsoft Office 365 Home or Microsoft Office 365 Personal retail product (Product) from an eligible Australian retailer with a current Australian Business Number (ABN) or Microsoft Store online (microsoftstore.com.au) between 9th January 2015 and 8 March 2015.

    • I have received email confirmation from Microsoft Support that this is legit and they will honor the offer with this deal.

I was going to shell out $70 for an office so for another $200+ I get a lappy for kids and the movie pass was really good value.

BTW, I went to JB and they can do $280

    This is not a bargain.

It is a few $ cheaper at OfficeWorks Bondi Junction store.

It is cheaper at The Good Guys if you order on line and pick up in store - due to their $50 in Store Credit deal that is running at this time.

for that space i'm thinking $199

The proposition is that you'll store your stuff online and therefore 32GB as eMMC is better for performance than an HDD. Of course with NBN getting further and further from the initial promised speeds that is not practical in Oz unless you are one of the lucky few.

      • yeah that sounds great for chrome but for windows? nah… i'd rather use and sd card

Also realize this laptop lasts a full 8 hours and is fanless (thinner and makes no noise), unlike many other laptops of the same grain which uses a traditional 2.5" spinner.

The build quality however is reportedly pretty rubbish, namely the touchpad and keyboard, which is a deal breaker for those who want to work on it extensively. It's also very plasticky all around, so expect lots of scratches.

32GB as eMMC is better for performance than an HDD.

Might want to read this. Not as fast as one might think, but it is a little faster than HDD.

“eMMC” is the kind of flash storage you’ll find in cheap tablets and laptops. It’s slower and cheaper than a traditional SSD you’d find in more expensive computers.

eMMC storage has a lot in common with SD cards. It’s all flash memory, but — just as an SD card wouldn’t be as fast as a speedy solid-state drive — eMMC storage can’t compete with an SSD, either.

Funny that the OP user name is soooo close to the one and only TA and this user joined today. What is going on??? This type of crap just annoys me!

  • Got my fiancee one of these for Xmas. Definitely good enough for watching YouTube all day, and its pretty snappy with Chrome. Viewing angles on the screen aren't so great, but for $300 its a solid machine.
