Are Travelfactory.com.au a licensed travel agent and part of a travel compensation fund?
I could not find one scrap of this info on the travel factory website.

    • +1

The Travel Compensation Fund is no longer in business. This is a quote from the TCF.org.au website:
"The TCF will not provide compensation in relation to travel agent collapses after 30 June 2014, but consumers will have 12 months to lodge claims with the TCF for collapse occurring up to 30 June 2014.

The TCF will wind up in 2015. "

  • There's a fair few Thailand deals being listed on here this week. Have the robots found a new victim?

  • So is this really normal price seeing they have it available to buy for almost a year.

  • +6

    1) No we arent a travel agent we are a deal site and we promote properties deals.
    2) Some deals you pay the full amount other deals you pay only a deposit
    3) We arent robots.
    4) Diffrent times of the year see more deals for a certain area depends if they are busy or not
    5) We have 30 of these deals for sale exculsive to travelfactory once they are gone the deal comes down
    6) if you do a search youll see that its a very good deal

    thanks

Not a bad price considering Agoda has it from $41 per night (for a standard room no breakfast). Superior King (No brekky?) $68 and a suite (No brekky?) $96. No mention of a Superior King Suite. Agoda has it as a 2.5 star rating and 7.5 review rating. (not too shabby). Although I don't like Phuket, I am almost tempted. One concern that I have is that I have no experience with this method of firstly buying a certificate, and then, once you receive the certificate, making a booking 'subject to availability'. I prefer to know that I have the dates that I want locked in before I pay.

  • You could try a phone call or email to the hotel requesting a reservation for the exact dates you want and advise them you'll be forwarding the 'certificate' once received to link your name to the booking made by travelfactory. This is the best way to deal with social buying website types for accommodation. May to October is low season (monsoonal) with peak commencing November 1.

    Firstly

If you feel uncomfortable about buying best if you email [email protected] and check the dates and any questions you have there

    Secondly

If you buy the deal and cant get your dates Ill give you a full refund but you do need to try for dates within at least 2 Months of purchase

    • Thanks. That sounds fair & reasonable. 'Heads up' Ozbargainers, Some of the other deals on the website ALSO sound good. But, and like the website points out, people should check to ensure that locations suit them. EG an extremely good deal for 2 br/up to 4 people Chiang Mai is out of town, and it might be an advantage to have your own transport.

      • Thanks Pecks

Like ive said before not even i would buy all the deals i promote !

Not because they arent great value or good properties but more because that may not be my style of holidaying/ Travelling.

  • Just a few casual observations, firstly this hotel is nowhere near the water at Kata (now overrun with Russians), it is set back quite a fair ways from the beach & is surrounded by the commercial area of that particular part of Phuket.

Secondly, the deal is only applicable for the "green" (rainy / low) season, which isn't all bad given the rain is normally over quickly, BUT, a lot of Thai hotels use the low season to renovate / build in preparation for the high & peak Xmas season. Your quiet relaxing by the pool could be ruined by the sweet melodies of concrete trucks & Burmese labourers arguing.

Finally, do some background on this (or any property). A quick glance of a few sites revealed mixed reviews at best, with several people describing it as "2 star".

Personally, I'd pay a bit more and stay at the Boat House just over the hill in Kata Noi, just lovely.

    • I get your point but it is only $200 for a week.

    • The BoatHouse looks great, but from $230 per night versus $200 per week! It depends on one's budget.
Yes the reviews on trip advisor are mixed.
I love it when it rains in Thailand. It is a welcome relief. But the Thais hate it. It disrupts trade, makes commuting difficult etc etc. It doesn't seem to rain for long per day though.

    • Boat house or Mom Tris? Mom Tris is the one on the hill between Kata Beach and Kata Noi. Boathouse is the one with the restaurant at the front and the building looks as though it has sails and is located at the southern end of Kata beach.
I agree with your low season observations.

      • Mom Tri's is nothing short of spectacular, even if you don't stay here, make the pilgrimage about an hour before sunset to enjoy the hotel's beautiful landscaping, stunning views over the bay, sun reclining behind the hills and the waves crashing on the rocks below…the food is amazing too, I haven't eaten better outside of BKK.
