Memory
768MB RAM + 4GB* eMMC
8b = 1B
6Gb = 768MB
that bytes!
Those who bit on this deal must regret not paying attention to Samsung's wordplay. I wonder if it was written by the same team who came up with "Made for Australia"
By Team Australia ;)
Same price at Betta and David Jones
Edit Both locked to Telstra
How does this phone compare to the Galaxy S II?
Much worse, Well, a little worse, the RAM is less than 1GB and the storage is also 4GB meaning there isn't going to be a lot of space if you're the type to play games and install large number of apps on the device.
If you have a SGSII, this is most likely a downgrade.
No, I don't have a SGSII, but I've been looking at getting one. Problem is they're quite dear considering they're over 3 years old…
There are better phones in the $100 price range. Huawei Y550 is (or was) $69 from Coles and is easily unlocked (Ozb user Bagman sells codes for $5.5) and it's all around a better spec'ed phone, with 4G connectivity and more RAM.
If you can manage to spend $200, you have a lot more options open to you — the Moto G being the clear winner in terms of 'bang for your buck' with a price point of $230~240.
The SGS II is a great phone for it's time, but it does suffer from a mediocre battery life, low resolution and outdated software. The only thing that I still like about it is that's it's compact and the camera takes pretty good photos.
Lol this phone still boots up faster then the iPhone 4S apparently.

Not the best for the money. Get a Y550@DSE ($60-$90) & bagman unlock for $3.
4G Cat 4 1800/2600/2100/850 LTE in Australia. Vastly better battery life to boot.
Back to $89 at DS. Was comparing with my $79 Huawei G526 today - almost identical outside, but much faster inside.
Y550 is Great 2Nd phone for my IP6+, however too lazy to exchange the phone under warranty with DSE for battery hiccups . The battery is loose so if you drop the phone on the table ,'it will move and restarted the phone .
Terrible specs.
Low resolution.
Outdated Android version.
Samsung bloat will use already limited ram.
As others have said above, there are better options. The fact that it's Samsung doesn't make it a bargain.
Sounds painful
Bought two and we're absolutely delighted, prophets of doom notwithstanding. Convenient size, light weight, good clear display, autoloaded all Google apps we use, processor way faster than Huawei Ideos we're replacing., has all the right bells and whistles. And it is a Samsung .. $99? Laughing .. :-0 !!
The specs seem off, I really doubt it has 6 Gb of RAM.
