That's the 01S, not the 015. An understandable mistake though.
Differences:

EDIT Hmm, I'm not certain on the graphics. There's nothing listed on the JB site about it, and the Toshiba's website doesn't include that model. So it might have the graphics.

Can you possibly post a scan of the deal? I called up Myer (Brisbane) and they said they won't do it for that price and $699 is well below cost. Might be a VIC only deal.

The manager at my local Officeworks would do the following: 1) bitch and moan, 2) ring Myer to find if the laptop is still in stock, 3) refuse to price match if it isn't, 4) become very dismissive and rude for "wasting" his time.
(This is a manager who was very rude to me when I noticed I was overcharged on the receipt for an item that was advertised as being on special within his own store. When I showed him the price tag, he ripped it off and scrunched it up and said it was incorrect.)

Just send a complaint to Head Office and they'll put his ego back in its rightful place and teach him about service delivery standards. He is doing his company a diservice and they'll appreciate the feedback for that reason.

beter cpu and video spec, biggger ram and hdd size but no card reader and built-in webcam. I hope they still have some left, but i doubt it.

take a look at that for performance
t4300 = 1214 passmark cpu marks
t3400 = 1132 passmark cpu marks a bit further down the list
not much of a difference but t4300 is still better i guess
apart from that it has more ram than the asus..larger hdd..
newer graphics card as well..not sure if it's better tho.

Is this deal really that special with no webcam, 14" LCD?
It's weird, according to the benchmark, T4200 = 1225, higher than T4300 (?!?)
I bought the Toshiba this morning. It does come with webcam (only 0.3MP but enough for video conf online). ATi 4530 is faster than 3470 even with less memory, they both suck for 3D games anyway. Smaller screen mean smaller laptop which is not a bad thing, my 1st PC only come with a 14" CRT…
to those who missed this deal, don't worry there will be better spec laptop at cheaper price like what happen last year when AUD was near parity with USD. Now AUD is already reach 0.908, so soon enough price will drop.
AUD may even go past USD early next year if there is another interest rate rise which is very likely to happen by end of the year. So I will give these current sale a pass and wait until first quarter next year or wait for Xmas sale.
I went to get 2 today from Erina Myer. They sold out in the first hour on Saturday so no cigar for me. If anyone else local to the Myer store was going to try, don't bother. Looks like they are probably sold out everywhere, very limited stock at this price I'd suspect.

My Acer 1810T only charged me $24.95 (i think) for the upgrade. Although that said, it's still a bloody rip off. Serial number could be emailed and download 7 for free.

I got one from OfficeWorks today for $664.05 - price match with 5% extra discount. I also get extra 12 months extended warranty with my Bank West Credit Card. I can return it within 90 days for fully refund if I don't think it is not the best deal - Officeworks + Credit Card purchase protection.
Hence I think I've got a better deal here…. :)

Sorry Starvire, I tried to get another one at the same store but they refused to do the same price because it was the special price match that they did for 1 day.
They entered Myer $699 as a "Competitor Price" and "Price Guarantee" for -$34.95 which was the 5% discount after price match. That was it! They couldn't do it again because it wasn't any "Competitor price" match at present etc……. :(
Having said that, I will try to get JB to do price match - will keep you up-to-date :)

I just bought a DELL laptop from eBay for $755 delivered, that's still $200 cheaper than buying from DELL.
But this Toshiba one even cheaper, got a dedicated graphics card, 4 GB RAM.
I wish I had not bought the DELL one.
