I’m jumping the gun on this one a little (on sale Oct 15), but in case someone is looking for a sub $500 32” panel, this may be worth considering.

This panel is only 9cm's thick, which would make it well suited for wall mounting.

  • PC input
  • Two HDMI connections
  • Remote control
  • HD Tuner

  • looks alright for the money

  • Great price, but I wouldn't expect there to be many or for them to last long. Better line up at 6am to guarantee you get one ;)

    Still giving a +ve vote.

This TV looks great, its easily the cheapest TV for 32"

Don't forget that 1366 x 768 will look just as good as 1920x1080 in most circumstances especially Digital TV.

Agreed. I have a non-HD TV and think it's more than adequate, and a recent Dutch study shows that people who are told they're watching HD believe it to be so, even though they're actually watching non-HD.

The research paper abstract from http://portal.acm.org/citation.cfm?doid=1594943.1594952 is:

In this article, an experiment was conducted to measure the effect of framing a high definition television (HDTV) clip. One group of participants was told they were watching a brand new HDTV clip, while the other group was told they were watching a digital DVD clip. Both groups were in fact watching the same (low) quality DVD clip. After watching this clip, the beliefs of the participants and their viewing experiences were measured via a questionnaire. The people framed to watch the HDTV clip were found to have a significantly more positive viewing experience. This shows that participants were unable to discriminate properly between digital and high definition signals but were influenced by the frame set for them. This effect has been shown in many different situations, and has now been established when watching HD-quality television as well. The results still indicate that the HDTV-frame is already associated with a high-quality viewing experience, which may influence the selling strategy and/or speed in the adoption of this technology. In the following discussion we will pay attention to the different ways in which HDTV can be framed in the media.

  • all be it = albeit :P

    • ta! :)

      • hehe :)

  • Don't you wish they made all TVs up to 32" size in 720p resolution (1280 x 720) instead of 1366 x 768 so that no scaling is required for 720p movies or Xbox 360 games?

the energy use is pretty high for 32" at 362.45kwh.

    • good point, which probably means this an old generation LCD TV, still cheap for $499 though.
For comparisons sake, my 3 year old 32" LCD Pana, uses 175Kwh

Well that's a deal breaker for me, being energy conscious. IMO Australian Government shouldn't be letting such inefficient things onto our shores. Just sayin'

That is a serious amount of power. Apparently the energy star rating is recorded when the TV in is standby.. Sigh..

      http://www.getwithgreen.com/2007/10/13/eco-friendly-tv-which…

Bit of info regarding energy use on 3 year old 37" LCD TVs.. Highest recorded was 220W.. This TV should be banned.

OO has 32" Full HD (1920x1080) for $100 more…. i think it's worth it for a sharper picture

though it'd also cost you $20 delivery

  • The energy usage was the deal breaker for me too. I was expecting somewhere around 150W which is less than half its true number!

Hell it's using more than my 50" Panasonic Viera Plasma (!!) Which I've scaled back settings considerably.

The energy efficiency rating labels give KW hours per year, not energy consumption in watts.

      eg. http://www.energyrating.gov.au/images/refrigerator-preferred…

KWh/year is a function of energy consumption (watts) X estimate of average daily usage X 365 days.

I have a previous aldi 42" panel and it used ~132watts when on. I would imagine this one will be well under that!

Thanks for clarifying this Ash! Makes a big difference to a lot of people ^_^

According to this guide the ALDI TV is about average. So it's NOT going to kill your childrens future after all. :)

362.45kwh per year (based on 10 hours a day)…. so in essence this panel uses slightly less than a 100 watt incandescent globe.

… this all boils down to ~1.5 cents per hour !

Thanks for clarifying, I didn't notice the kWh. Yes in that case this is a fine deal indeed. Might grab one if any still available.

  • Does anyone know the external dimensions?
    Thanks.

  • anyone find out the contrast and brightness?

  • is it made in china or korea ?

  • Anyone know what type of inputs this has? Line-in etc. Planning to use as Pc monitos around %90 of the time

    • you can use hdmi port

    • Other Vivid Aldi TVs have had d-sub, HDMI (Can use dvi to hdmi cable) and the usual RCA's.

  • So did anyone pick one up? :)

    I got one so far the details I've got from it are;

    Vivid AC-32LH2
    Samsung32AP02 Panel

Will test with Xbox360 through HDMI soon and post a mini review.

    • Would you recomend this Tv? As I am planning to buy it! looking forward for your review..

      • Well I hope you picked one up! I am very pleased with this purchase. Excellent picture quality.

  • Do you know if it has VESA mount hole on the back?

    • There's no mention of it in the manual, so I'm not sure if it's standard "VESA" mounting. There's 2 holes for rather large screws which are placed near the top of the unit for wall mounting I would presume.

Edit; after a quick google the VESA mounting would probably go where the stand currently mounts at the bottom. There's about 4 screws to remove this piece.

  • Got it for $430 due to it being carton damaged. Excellent picture

    • Lol! Some people hey..

He'll probably sell it as well, that's the sad part.

  • they had 20 in stock but by 1030 that morning only one left.
