  • Hey 10% is 10%! Thanks :)

    • +26

Not when its -1% (after price hikes)

      • +1

Agreed.. I foresee this post being negged into oblivion after the prices are jacked up by 15% at midnight on the 15th.

        • +2

The Good Guys already jacked up their prices a couple of days ago. If they do it again this will be a total no deal.

      • -3

Maybe this one will actually be 10% off ?….. sigh, wish i could neg my own comment..

        • +5

I negged you for you. Thank me later ?

        • +7

@tomleonhart: Thats Ozbargain community generosity right there!

        • +1

I can help you out there as well.

      • +6

hah Far cry 4 was $69 yesterday and today it is $79. DSE #GoGetF.

    • +1

Don't forget the 2% cash back from cashrewards :)

      • +1

Haven't got back any cash once from 3 transactions

        • It takes a while (several weeks) to come through as cleared, so you can request the cashback.
I have received around $35 cashback from them.

Right now I have $10 in rewards (pending), however most of that has not yet cleared, so I can only redeem $1.20 which is below the minimum $5 threshhold. In a few more weeks I will be able to redeem the whole $10.

You need to log into your account, click "get paid" in top right corner, and then redeem.

  • Time for a Dick Smith price hike? Let's hope not :)

  • So they only have to make their prices up 10% this time? That should make the maths easier for them….

    • +19

      11+% actually.
      $100 + %10 = $110
      $110 - %10 = $99

We cant have them actually discounting.

      • ;)
        Way to math

  • +1

Canon EOS 70D with 18-55mm IS STM lens is $1288 at Good Guys. With 10% off, 2% cashrewards and $150 cash back works out to $983.44 - good deal imo.

    • Scratch that.

  • +11

Can we all stop talking about price hikes, we all know its going to happen.
    Instead post some potential deals.

    • +16

Even better, let's wait until actual deals exist then post them

      • Wheres the fun in that! :P

  • Can we claim Canon cash back from TGG ebay store?

    • +1

Yes it still trading as good guys

      • Thanks for taking time to answer my question +1

  • Wait guys, this is not even cash back or savings to your pocket. It reads 'store credit' for TGG. And you have to go pick it up. WTF?

I wont neg it as there ought to be a bargain in there somewhere but for the TV i am after i can buy off another site at a lower price so savings goes to my pocket. And free delivery so i dont ever have to leave my apartment.

    • +2

You're getting this confused with TGG's own promotion of store credit when you buy through eBay and choose pickup.
This is an eBay promotion where they will post a discount code for 10% off.

  • Is this applicable to use with the goodguys store credit reward?

    • Nvm, going TGG this weekend to ask.

      • +1

Based on the T&Cs the answer is yes, but unfortunately that promotion ends 12/12 before this one begins 15/12

      • +1

the good guys promotion ends on Friday 12th, the ebay one starts on the 15th so I don't think you'll be able to get an overlap :)

    • +1

From the term and conditions you have to pay with Paypal for the voucher to work:
"9. The redemption code requires payment with PayPal in order to take effect."

  • +1

    Hopefully some proper bargains appear…

  • I'm just going to say don't bother with BCF. I have been waiting over 1 week for my last purchase.

    • +3

Clearly not a fisherman with impatience like that eh gatecrasher?

I'm not doing nothing… im fishing.

  • I need to buy some baby stuff from cincotta chemist….Hopefully they wont raise the price on their ebay store. I will of course be comparing ebay to their own website and against chemist warehouse website as well

  • +4

    Have prices already been hiked?
    Samsung UA55H6300 55" TV:
    Dick Smith eBay store: $1449.00
    Dick Smith online: $1149.00

    • If you looking at that model. We got a AU55H7000 in store at JB they went under $1300 few weeks back. It's a pretty good set.
I was guessing that maybe they were told to change the prices as early as possible.

    • +1

It's very clearly marked as $300 off on Dicks website, it's part of a current promotion on TV's. These sales aren't always replicated across to their eBay store..

      http://www.dicksmith.com.au/up-to-15-pct-off-big-brand-tvs

  • +1

Here we go again. I call this being Harvey Normaned.
You think your getting a deal but actually it's not a deal at all.
The only benefit on most of the up marked sale items is, you feel like you got a deal.

Will still be a deal on few items tho. Is it price check time Before/After

    • It's a good deal for the retailers though.. if they get to make 10% more at ebay's expense.

  • -2

    The 20% deal was better

    • +3

In the promotions like these the deal is not in the discount % but in the final price of a product. Sometime you may pay more for the same item during a 20% off promotion than a 10% off promotion. IMO this is much better deal as the discount is not as big as 20% so some sellers may not bother hiking up the prices.

  • edited. comment removed.

Some advice - call the store to check stock first before buying. I have been waiting nearly two weeks for a click-and-collect from The Good Guys.

    • same, waited almost 2 weeks now, what did you buy? i bought the white note4

      • I bought a Sony WX350 camera.

        • i collected my item today at another TGG store. I called my store to transfer the purchase to that other store that has item in stock. The process was quick and done in short period of time. Maybe you should do the same.

        • @dtjan01: when I spoke to them the first time, no stores in WA had stock (contrary to the eBay listing).

It is a good idea though, next time I speak to them I will see if elsewhere has stock now.

        • @ChiefAJ: I have it now. Arrived for pick up on the Monday 22 December.

    • Same, at the 20% off sale, I bought a coffee grinder that was showing as In stock, still no word on it after following up with them. Time to follow up with them again. The "Good Guys" my arse.

    • Still waiting on my LG G3 from TGG during the 20% off sale. Called them a few times now and have no idea when they're getting stock. Tempted to cut my losses and cancel the order.

  • If DSE keeps the price the same before discount for a PS4 + 3 Games (TLOU, LBP3 & Driveclub) at $489 then I will be returning my PS4 I purchased from the last eBay deal and purchasing the new deal and saving $56.40

    $489 - $58.68 (10% + 2% cash rewards)
    = $430.32

    http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=2616948…

    • +1

I think you'll find that they may not allow you to return it without a valid reason (ie, it was DOA, not working as expected, etc). Not sure if they allow change of mind, especially if it has already been opened (nto saying yours has though).

      • On the eBay listing it does say "returns accepted within 14 days, seller pays return postage".

Also mine hasn't been opened as I'm currently out of the country and returning next week.

        • +1

Fair enough, best of luck with your return and hope you get the better deal.

    • That bundle has ended, not sure why you posted the ebay.com link though

      Au link: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Sony-PS4-Console-Bundle-Deal-/261…

      • Bundle wasn't ended when posted.

That link is from eBay app on iOS.

        • Yep saw that it was relisted, definitely a good bundle / price. Only one more day to see if it stays at $489 - I'm very tempted.

    • +2

For some reason, DSE has actually dropped the price by a further 9%
      http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/261699032220

It could be a mistake, so don't miss out!

      • Just bought $399 total pick up price!!! Totally decent for 3 games included which retail for around 80 each. Thanks!

  • For those that got something 20% off from The Good Guys recently and got a full priced receipt from them, I wonder if we could claim a price guarantee using this Dick Smith 10% off price?

  • -8

Can someone tell me what the code is for the Good Guys?

    Many thanks

    • -5

And can someone tell me why people are voting this down???????

      • Code is the same for all suppliers.

It is only available to the Ebay store

        code is - CPICKUP

Not sure why they are negging without responding though.

  • -4

What a effing joke… 10% off what? with some of the comments from the 20% off ebay one, it seems it's not 10% off the REGULAR price! they might as well start advertising 40% off… then when the time comes jack everything up so that the actual saving off the REGULAR price is more like 5% kinda like "50% OFF Sale"… fine print "off whatever we feel like"

    • +1

Not sure what you're going on about. I checked the prices for a Breville juicer and coffee grinder on The Good Guys eBay store a week or two before the sale started, and when the sale did start the prices remained the same and cheaper than other stores as well. With the 20% of on top and minimal our no delivery cost, it worked out great for me as I saved quite a bit of money.

      • +2

good for you… but i think it is misleading to advertise it as a blanket 10% off these retailers ebay store. Only need one exception for it to be fraudulent advertising…. and more to the point is that it IS meant to give the impression that on the specified dates you will pay 10% less for any given item from the participating retailers compared to other dates… i think that the ACCC term it as 'misleading'

        from

        https://www.accc.gov.au/publications/advertising-selling/adv…

Businesses often make comparisons between the prices they are currently charging for a product and:
        - the business' own previous pricing (including 'was/now' or 'strike through' pricing or by specifying a particular dollar amount or percentage saving);
        - the 'cost' or wholesale price
        - a competitor's price
        - the recommended retail price (RRP).
Businesses that use such statements must ensure that consumers are not misled about the savings that may be achieved.

Statements such as 'was $150/now $100' or '$150 now $100' are likely to be misleading if product had not been offered for sale at the specified 'was' or 'strike through' price of $150 before the sale commenced, but had instead been offered for sale at a lower price. In such circumstances, a consumer would not make the represented saving of $50 by purchasing the product for $100 during the sale.

The guidance above applies equally when a business uses a dollar or percentage amount (such as ‘60% off’) that a consumer will save if they purchase the product at the time the representation is made

        and from

        https://www.accc.gov.au/media-release/accc-moves-on-more-ret…

ACCC Chairman Graeme Samuel said retailers must make sure that savings advertised during sales are genuine and that the higher price actually applied prior to the sale for a reasonable period of time.

unfortunately this arrangement with ebay may be circumventing this because ebay is advertising the 'claim' of 10% off and NOT the retailers… so technically the retailers ARE selling it at whatever price they have changed it to

        • +2

oh well, the mob has spoken… hopefully a few more people were made aware that this practice does go on and is frowned upon by the ACCC… without the neg to hightlight it i guess its up to the individual to find out

        • @qtvinsta: Btw, it wasn't me in case you were wondering.

        • no worries Trishool… i wasn't wondering

      • +2

        Looking to buy T100TA tablet

The good guys ebay price $497 ($447.3 if picked up)

        http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Asus-T100-10-1-Intel-Atom-Pro…

        In store price $447

        http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/asus-t100-101-inches-atom-touc…

What's the point of the sale again?

  • +2

For those items that aren't price hiked during the promotion it's a good deal…

    BUT…

I wonder if they will do a 20% off in the near future eg. post-Christmas. They seem to do them quite often now.

    • There isn't a need for a price hike, the person/company selling the item isn't giving a discount, its ebay/paypal that is giving the discount on checkout. 10% is the standard ebay fee, so basically ebay is just forgoing the transaction fee, but still claiming the paypal fee. Now I'm sure these guys don't pay the standard fee, so its not as clear cut as that. Its all smoke and mirrors to get you to buy via ebay, for them claim how great the place is now. Ebay takes nearly 13% of a standard sellers order if paid via paypal. Including POSTAGE costs now!

      • I understand how the promo works thanks.

Based on many past comments many item prices in eBay are increased by the big brand retailers to coincide with the promo…with the net effect that the customer pays the same as what they would pay in the store.

Hence… For those items that aren't price hiked during the promotion it's a good deal.

        • -8

Oh for gods sake, this same old load of trash keeps coming up.

PLEASE show me one example from a past sale where the price has been hiked up by more than say 5%.

Some of the circumstances are where some people see a sale price which finishes a few days before the 20% sale…..it comes to the ebay sale and….OH I HAVE BEEN RIPPED OFF. Honestly

        • -1

I keep hearing price hikes, but does anyone have examples?

As I said, the person selling it isn't giving you a discount, so they don't need to make up the loss. If they ramp up the price, then they are trying to get greedy and you're better off waiting till after the sale and buy at the normal price (which means less money for the greedy person). Cause at the end of the day, it will be the same price to you!

        • +2

take your pick from last time
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/170606

        • +2

@Coops1: Read any of several previous previous threads relating to eBay % off sales.

        • +2

@Level380: It's profiteering plain and simple. Many examples have been posted in previous threads. And please don't be so condescending… this is an astute community. Obviously we are not going to buy something when the price has been inflated by the retailer as a rort.

        • -6

@myfeetarehappy: haha I'm condescending! WOW look at your comment….. Once again, haven't seen any examples shown, just more empty claims! I brought something from one of these big retailers during the last sale, the price wasn't infanted before/during or after the sale.

But Umm dude thats what I said in my comment. If the retailer put the price up during the sale, wait until post sale when the price returns to normal and buy it.

        • +2

@Level380: In these kind of sales there is always a bargain there for someone. It depends on what you are looking to buy and from which store. In most cases the popular items' prices will be inflated. The sellers are as greedy as the buyers, they want to gain something out of eBay's loss (of profit). I think the first 20% off sale by eBay was the best one and it was across all the stores. I bought a MBA in that sale for $500 which is almost 50% off.

        • +2

@Level380: Umm dude you can find the examples yourself via previous threads as noted along with the consensus comments from this thread.

Just because the item you bought wasn't "infanted" doesn't mean other items weren't. I bought several items last time and like most people here tracked prices before and during the sale to ensure it was a good deal.

        • -6

          @myfeetarehappy:

I have read every comment in all the threads on this. Empty claims, simple as that. No examples of any substance whatsoever. As I said link any real example of jacking up the price on something, I can only see plenty of claims/comments.

        • +3

@Coops1: One example of many after two seconds of looking on the thread linked above…

Nokia Lumia 625 for $499 on the DICK SMITH eBay site… %20 off sale going…
          http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Nokia-Lumia-625-Unlocked-Smartpho…

While in store at DICK SMITH it is $278
          http://www.dicksmith.com.au/unlocked-smart-phones/nokia-lumi…

          Now $278 on eBay.

        • some comments on the following thread too
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/172420

        • -1

          @myfeetarehappy:

I apologise your right, they jacked the price up $221. Didn't realise it was that bad. Did anybody refer them to the ACCC?

        • @Coops1:

          Expon:
          Looking to buy T100TA tablet

The good guys ebay price $497 ($447.3 if picked up)

          http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Asus-T100-10-1-Intel-Atom-Pro…

          In store price $447

          http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/asus-t100-101-inches-atom-touc…

What's the point of the sale again?

        • @Coops1: No problem. That was a particularly bad one!

Most people on Ozbargain now make sure to track before and during prices and not buy if the price is jacked. This is a great community!

There are plenty of punters out there who would not be so aware…but that's always the case with retail I suppose.

  • +3

Still enjoying the wait for The Good Guys to get stock of the Moto 360 I ordered in the last sale, which was listed as being in stock. The current response is that they have "no idea" when they'll get stock, and "will probably be a few weeks".

In the meantime, it is listed on Ebay as being in stock with 'more than 10 available'.

    • I was thinking of getting one but I think I'll shop elsewhere instead…

    • At least you got a response. I'm certainly not buying from them again.

  • You can still get 10% off at masters for a couple of days with this & pay with 5% off everyday egift cards.

    • Or pay with 7.5% off egift cards if you have entertainment book

  • I found most items from TGG wasnt hiked up during the 20%, but Dick Smith DID hike up some items.
If you look at previous post you will see some examples.

  • +1

will there be any promo on boxing day? any thoughts?

  • under terms and conditions it says the email for ebay and paypal must be the same for it to be processed? is that true? have previous offers had the same condition? my ebay and paypal email are different…

    • You might need to add as a secondary email in PayPal if they aren'tlinked.

  • How to go to the DickSmith Ebay Store via Cashback rewards? Could anybody share the direct link as I am not able to go to the DSE Ebay Store via Cashback rewards?

In fact I am not able to see the HTC M7 in $299 in Ebay Store via Cashback rewards.

    Appreciate your help here.
