eBay 20% Off Fake Deals from certain Merchants - Be Warned !!! Tell the CEO of eBay Australia what you think!

Since the first ever genuine ebay deal June this year, I noticed that certain merchants have started to increase prices regularly just before sales events. I'm over non genuine sales events and I'm calling out merchants that jack their prices up just before the big "sale" events.

Deals Direct
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Kids-Wooden-Boat-Shape-Sandpit-/1…
$130 up to $181.90 just 2 days before

The Good Guys:
Shipping increases
example: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Fujitsu-C2-5kW-H3-2kW-Reverse…
$44 up to $74 dollars for heavy items such as aircons the night before the deal.

These price increases pretty much wipe out any 20% discounts. Please add more examples.

If you are unhappy with the price increases then email [email protected] who heads up ebay australia. Tell him what you think! http://www.powerretail.com.au/operations/jooman-park-to-lead…

Please vote and also share your experiences below and warn the ozbargain community from any fake deals.

Also please call out any genuine sellers.

I didn't buy anything due to the prices increased. I gave up in the honesty of these companies. Most likely non of eBay or ACCC will do anything about it. Maybe the deserve a boycott?!

    I'm boycotting Dick Smith…

says everyone every day. But then the eneloop deal comes around and everyone forgives.

      • I have over 10 packets of AA and about 5 AAA. I can boycot them, unless they have PS4 games for under $20 :)

        • STAY STRONG

      • LOL.. I've boycotted NIKE since 1992.

        • but did they offer you $10 eneloops?

Ebay wont care in the least. As long as they get their commission they have all they want.
As for businesses manipulating prices to create fake bargains, that is nothing new, just be more aware of product pricing if you don't want to get caught.

Jooman Park from eBay will care when his inbox fills up tomorrow with complaints… Buyers will lose trust and eBay's reputation as best deals around will be gone…

That reputation, for me anyway, is long gone. Can't just go to ebay only anymore, need to shop around especially since the big retailer have joined in. The sellers know it too and have increased prices, and prices elsewhere have fallen to match eBay better.

  • meh
if they increase prices, but after 20% off its still cheaper than competitors nothing u can say!

golfbox is quite good, most of the stuff hasn't gone up in price….. just must resist…..

Same issue with petcircle. Prices went up about 25% today and yesterday. Yet these items remain "on special"
    - just the discount is less.

  • I thought I got a bargain but then then The Good Guys rang me to say they didn't have my item. I'll wait and see what happens before I pass judgement.

    Clear example:

PS Vita Slim which retails on the Dick Smith website for $269:

    http://www.dicksmith.com.au/playstation-vita-consoles/ps-vit…

    On Ebay over $300:

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/PS-Vita-Wi-Fi-2000-/261665308661?…

    • less $60 after 20% makes it cheaper than the stores - but I know what you mean.

  • Ebay wont likely do anything. Their commission fees are based on prices. Higher price higher commission.

I don't see how it's eBays fault that the merchant raises prices. They are just the marketplace. If you complain to eBay all they will do is stop offering the promotions in the future.

  • Honestly, I dont care at all, as long as I get reasonable price at the end, don't ask too much from retailer, they need to survive and keep the business running

  • Shouldn't we be directing our concerns to the Dept of Fair Trading?

The delivery charge was $44 for me with TGG. You must be further away as they charge by postcode.

    • Me too although I picked up
