$391.40 for a Daisey with 5 years warranty vs 1 year for this one

I know this question of yours is a feature in almost every Aldi post, and I probably know where this is heading but here I go:

Unless someone knows where did Aldi source it from, no one can tell you. I am hoping that it will have a daisey print on it somewhere, but that's wishful thinking. Thanks

        • @ammar:

I know this question of yours is a feature in almost every Aldi post

Not really, often they have reduced their prices so there is an actual saving…

        • +2

@jv: And it's a valid point ,jv. Like I said, I know where this is heading :)

        • +3

I think we need an OzB acronym for this to save resources.

I propose: WWJVA? (What Would JV Ask?)

This could potentially save many mMh (milli-Man-hours) of typing time :)

Mhhh … I would say a good deal does not need to be cheaper than it's original price. In my opinion it is sufficient when a deal is cheaper than a comparable product at the same quality. . It's always a fine line … warranty … what is same quality …. So a difficult decision and it is sometimes impossible to answer.

I rather have the product posted and make up my own mind if it is worth it's bargain status … the voting helps …

At $159 for a pool cover at this size sounds like a OK deal for me (when I would be in the market for one I definitely would make a trip to Aldi to check the quality myself).

        • @ammar: I would be shocked and dismayed and then shocked again if Daisy made this

        • +1

@SBP: Agree. No chance this is made by Daisy.

  • If you purchase a reel from elsewhere, will this be eligible for the 200 rebate for Victoria?

    • No no no.

This is important! I bought a cover and reel from klika and the only way to be eligible is if the invoice States the micron level of the cover and also the name and address of who it is for the property of the bill holder .

The water authority will contact you to confirm and ask if you want credit on your next bill or cheque.

Also if you don't have name and detaining the item is not eligible for rebate.

This makes the cover expensive by comparison.

      • As long as you meet the requirements you should be able to get the $200 rebate on your water bill.
I purchased my pool cover and reel from Klika and received the rebate.

        POOL COVER WITH ROLLER/REEL
        REBATE $200
        (LIMIT 1 PER PROPERTY)
        >
Available for pool covers with a roller or reel
to assist with covering the pool.
        >
Pool covers must be a Smart Approved
WaterMark product, be a minimum of
400 microns thick and be UV stabilised.

Klika prices are pretty good and more size options.

          http://www.klika.com.au/outdoor/pool-supplies.html

And here is the Victorian rebate form.

          https://www.yvw.com.au/yvw/groups/public/documents/document/…

If you have any concerns, i would give Klika a call. pretty sure they would be more helpful than Aldi.

        • @deal88: I wasn't aware of Kilka and I am in the market for a cover and reel, the prices seems decent. would you vouch for the quality? I can't find anything here on the reel and cover. Thanks

        • +1

@ammar: I purchased the 12m x 6.4m pool cover and the heavy duty roller from Klika 12 months ago. Very good value for the money. I think the quality is pretty good and I found Klika very helpful on the phone. It definitely has decreased the water loss and increased the temperature of the pool. Great deal if you are in Victoria and can get the $200 rebate.

The Klika covers are 400 micron, Smart-Watermark Approved and UV-Stabilised. I have had the off cuts sitting in full sun for 12 months and they do not show any degradation, so they seem pretty good.

In Australia "Daisy" are known to be the best quality, but you would pay about 3 times the price for the cover and reel and I preferred to spend that money elsewhere. FYI….. http://www.daisypoolcovers.com.au/pool-covers/

        • @deal88: Thanks for the feedback

    Pool Cleaner review :

    1 out of 5, reviewed on Feb 15, 2014
After 1 month had to repair the balance strap broken holders floating on the pool surface the circle at the top has now broken and the whole thing is useless bought in November 2013 cheaply made but replacing every 5 months is not economical if the item needs to be replaced more than twice a year

    • Maybe wait for the premium cleaner …

Aldi Power Force Premium Automatic Pool Cleaner
      4 out of 5, reviewed on Feb 02, 2014
I have owned a pool for 22 years and have decided no pool cleaner is perfect - hence happy to try cheaper ones. I returned an Aldi pool cleaner I bought last October (the $89 one - not the premium one) because it broke after about 6 uses - weak plastic where the bumper joined the main body. It was useless once it had no bumper. I noticed in January 2014 that Aldi were selling a premium pool cleane r for $139 and the bumper was built into the main body - no bad plastic to break. I knew the $89 cleaner had worked ok in my pool until it broke (apart from getting stuck every 15 minutes) so was willing to give the premium one a go. So far it is working really well - it won't do the walls, but it covers all the bottom of the pool and unlike its predecessor (the $89 Aldi cleaner), it doesn't get stuck. I have always had to brush the walls of my pool - no cleaner I've owned has ever vacuumed them properly. Thus the Aldi Premium cleaner is doing all I want it to do. However I would emphasize - do not buy Aldi's cheaper cleaner if they ever sell it again. Only buy the "Premium Automatic Pool Cleaner" which sells for around the $139 mark. Mine has the number 44929 on the box - presumably a model number.

    • The pool cleaner will be a complete waste of $102.43

The cost of the cleaner, the credit card costs (if reqd) and the cost of the petrol. Even if you bought a trolley worth of goods at the same time it will still be a easte of petrol because then you got to take it to the tip and then drive to a real pool shop to get a real pool cleaner afterwards. So now your $102.43 has turned into $115.27

and not in a good way

  • The pool cleaners aren't much chop, we've tried two, returned both.

Now to buy the Pool to go with these….

    • True OzB style

  • Can you go wrong with the really cheap brush and leaf net accessories?

what about the leaf canister. That looks useful when you vacuum.

    • +1

I think they are worth a look, the canister seems useful.

    • +1

I purchased the brushes and leaf nets last year and they have been great. For the price i will be grabbing some more.

    • +1

Yes you can. The canister I don;t know about but you can get much better and bigger ones for not much more money elsewhere.

But the brushes and net accessories will be an almost a waste of money. Think of it like buying a $19 frying pan from woollies. Yeah you get some use out of it and some people will keep buying them every 4 months, 3 weeks and 12 days but once you buy a $200 frying pan you end up saving yourself money PLUS it does a much better job. Your brushes will fall apart leaving you brush hairs to pick up all the time yada yada yada

      not worth it

      • +1

I have had no issues with the Aldi brushes and nets. Also, I prefer the cheap Aldi leaf net to my more expensive one. Go to the store and check out the quality and then make a call.
