5L Plastic Jerry Can $9.99 @ Repco

160

Bought the same one about 2 months ago when I ran out of fuel for $20

I haven't needed to use it again but I think everyone should own at least one, I'll be buying another for a spare at this price.

  • I think this is the same item at Masters for the same price. But you could use a woolies gift card and which would mean it'd be 5% cheaper.

Yep same one, good price. I like Masters prices on a lot of things but the closest one is 500km+ away. Oddly it says $99.95 delivery when I put in my post code.

Should order it, it might come in handy on the 1000k round trip.

    • I got a masters 10% voucher from wollies last night

  • This is a normal price for a plastic 5L fuel container.

everyone should own at least one

It is handy when need. What is the best way to keep it - empty in the car?
Or underneath the bed - save from looking for the bathroom switch at night.

  • masters sells the same brand 10L jerry cans for $14.95, its even better value in terms of volume/dollar.

    • yes i like always

This style and brand sceptor are the only ones that I have used that do not leak through the filler cap. Important as to avoid fumes in the car when transporting fuel.

    • Where is the fun in that?

The willow ones are good too

      • I had a Willow for years but the seam along the bottom one day just split (was a two piece molded construction). Bought a Super Cheap Auto branded one which is a better built sticker plastic molded container BUT the threaded spout is almost useless for connecting to the container. Can't get it to seal properly. I'll try this repco one tomorrow, cheers.

        • I have a supercheap one too with the same problem. Check your seal is flat and do it up FT and it wont leak. Also make sure the seal mating surface is flat.

Seems most if not all have a seam. If you travel with it say in a 4wd a lot its best to have a foam piece at the bottom, all the bashing about wont be good for any of them!

Also, if you leave it outside in the heat they all expand and I cant see the pressure being any good.

Either way, I would have rang them up and seen if they would do anything about it no matter the brand.

  • Does anyone know if this has a funnel/hose like thing attached to it or you have to get an external funnel?

    • +1

If it's like their 10L and 20L cans the filler is inside the cap.

      • +2

You're correct, 5L has same filler.
$10 is also the regular price @ Bunnings

  • The Bunnings, Kmart and Supercheap Home Brand cans are all the same. Absolute rubbish. Don't seal, leak when pouring etc. Deadset dangerous. If you are storing or transporting a flammable liquid, do you really wanna skimp on the container??? Seems like robbing Peter to pay the insurance excess when something goes up in smoke.

  • 1 word —use metal

    • that was 2 words…

  • i just bought one. the built-in filler hose is too cute for words.
