From my personal ASUS experience, I will never buy any ASUS device again.
They "killed" my TF201 still at Ice Cream Sandwich. No further updates on a powerful device.

Root it and install CyanogenMod. Instructions here.

      • I found that it "died" 3 weeks ago. Still trying to bring it back to life… No ASUS again, ever

This is Windows though so it's a different story. Asus doesn't need to work on the upgrade themselves.

      • True, though they never updated the drivers on my Zenbook for Windows 8.1

It's not without issues, and Windows 7 or Windows 8 give a more reliable experience.

  • I get $309USD delivered using Amex for a white one

  • This is so cheap!

    • 2GB RAM and 64GB storage, running Windows 8.1… that's why.

      • I have the T100 from this deal and I paid $404 from an Officeworks Price-beat. That's why I think this device is so cheap. FWIW you get what you pay for, but at this price for this device you seem to get a lot more for a lot less.

        • I'd rather choose the bulky one with bigger RAM and storage (with possibility to expand/upgrade them ie. SSD).

The model with the 500GB HDD in the Dock/Keyboard does not ship to Australia.

          @A3Australia:

You don't get it. I would buy this instead of the T100. http://www.dicksmith.com.au/laptops-notebooks/toshiba-satell…

@jva: I don't see the comparison. Not convertible, you've just linked some cheap laptop.

Good price for a solid tablet and the bundled MS office makes it a good deal too. Perfect for students who need a laptop for notes, basic word processing and some games on the windows store. Don't expect much from the keyboard and trackpad but for the price, you can't go wrong!

Quite a impressive device if it works ok.

Had one briefly after the 15% off ebay sale. Mine was sent back doa, was hoping for a replacement but got a refund.

Build quality isn't the best in my opinion.
-The sd card sticks out by about 2mm
-also had a issue with one core maxed out due to possibly a bug with the sd reader.

The reason I sent mine back was due to a it failing to stay asleep when closing it with the dock attached. It would sleep partially closed and wake again when fully closed. As far as I could tell a few people had a similar issues and had difficulty dealing with asus. Didn't seem to be wide spread though a lot of people had problems with the device not staying in connected standby.

On the Metro side I found it difficult to find apps similar to the ones I used on Android. Got a Macbook Air instead as I found was mainly using it as a netbook.

  • Asus screen is rubbish, I bought one and it drop on to a carpeted floor within 50cm from bed, and the screen cracked, never Asus again, Samsung screen is more tough

I've never even dropped mine and the screen cracked after several months where it sits in the dock. The cracks have since propagated out across the entire display. I haven't put in a warranty claim yet but from what I have read on the Googles I am likely to get screwed over by Asus.

The build quality of mine is also questionable. The micro SD slot has a slight gap between the case and the connector socket and it is possible to lose the card inside the device if you're not careful. The microUSB (power) and HDMI ports are also very tight, again due to crappy case alignment around the ports. Other issues that annoy me are the dicky power switch and the poor quality touchpad.

The white one is now USD 313.71 delivered

    • Any idea why the price dropped like three times in a row? o.o

Maybe there is a new model being released soon?

  • Nice! Might consider grabbing one…
