99 was US only, was still 140 for international

    • +1

It's pretty good - cheapest I've seen it for is $139 which I got one for during a $25 off sale recently.

The one for $99 on Amazon is the US one with ads, they won't ship that to AU. The international version on Amazon is US$139 for comparison. So the $144 is much better value than that.

  • +7

It really pays to do the homework

    Example Kids Pirate Sandpit

Ebay $143 (after 20% cbigmas, cashback 2% and free shipping)
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Kids-Wooden-Boat-Shape-Sandpit-/1…

Direct Purchase from Seller's website $131
(after coupon welcome10 (10%) and cashback 4% and inc $2 shipping)
    http://www.dealsdirect.com.au/kids-wooden-boat-shape-sandpit…

All results rounded up to nearest dollar.

Difference $12 better off buying direct and not from ebay despite the coupon.

    BUT

The clever people bought it 2 days ago and paid for it today and would have received it for $104 Delivered and saved $27 compared to best deal!!!

        9 ( 10Feedback score is 10 to 49) AU $181.90 1 30-Nov-14 08:24:30 AEDST
    44 ( 1 ) New eBay Member AU $181.90 1 29-Nov-14 18:42:50 AEDST
    mm ( 1262Feedback score is 1000) AU $181.90 1 29-Nov-14 14:04:36 AEDST
    **ke ( 27Feedback score is 10 to 49) AU $130.95 1 28-Nov-14 14:30:46 AEDST **
    **ce ( 34Feedback score is 10 to 49) AU $130.95 1 28-Nov-14 14:22:07 AEDST**

I'm actually really getting fed up with sellers increasing their prices before sale events and I will raise a complaint with ebay.

    • +5

Unfortunately ebay don't care and won't listen

      • +1

safe to say if you are a big dealer on eBay, they don't give a shit. As long as you're paying fees, anything goes.

      • EBay won't - ACCC might..

        • ACCC seems to be toothless where ebay is concerned.

Pity channel nine is in bed with ebay, otherwise a story or two to Current Affair may have been worth it.

    • how do you buy then pay later i thought the coupon wouldnt apply

    • How do you pay later?

  • Got the Galaxy Tab S 4g 10.5 for 480ish

    not bad ;)

Says the guy who's posted no deals for anyone..

        • +5

Plenty of bargains and plenty of ripoffs as well. Got to know your prices to work out which is which. Also if you read back through the comments you find some good deals as well.

  • Anyone found some good deals on sheets? These Charisma ones on COTD seem cheap. Any thoughts?

Bought Philips air fryer for $160. TGG and Target had them. Target is free shipping.

  • So has anyone noticed and pricing issues?

Pretty sure that this Rockwell polisher: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Rockwell-ShopSeries-Car-Polisher-…

is generally $89 in store…. Never seen it over $100 and now it is..

    • +6

Anyone noticed any pricing issues….?? are you serious? Half the comments in this deal are about some "interesting" pricing by various retailers.

At least in this particular case, while i have no idea what the normal price for the polisher is, at least the normal (ie non ebay) Super Cheap website shows it as $109, unlike some of the other vendors participating in this sale.

Some of the past ebay sales have been decent but not seeing a great lot of value in this one.

      • +1

Easy tiger. Sorry I didn't have time to read 5 pages of comments….
In store I have seen it for around $90. Never over $100 AFAIK

  • +12

I'm starting to think the whole point of these eBay sales is not to give us a discount, but a way for eBay to give money back to store owners. In so many cases the 20% "saved" is merely transferred from eBay to the retailer.

    • +4

I think it's a missed opportunity to increase confidence in sellers and specific items by virtue of number of units sold. Jacking up prices renders this sale null and void. What it should read is 20% off RRP.

      • I agree about the missed opportunity to increase buyer confidence. At the moment my confidence in the sales for the bricks and mortar stores is nil. The sales would have to be 100% off before I'd be sure of their accuracy.

  • damn Masters have jacked their prices.. $80 for a hammer that can be bought for $13 on Amazon

    • +41

      You could say…..
      (••)
      ( •
      •)>⌐■-■
      (⌐■_■)
      That's a jacked hammer.

    • What was the Masters price before this deal started?
Can you link this $80 hammer please?

they sell it for $69 instore

Correction, can be had for $18 on Amazon… and other ebay sellers have it for a more reasonable $59 price tag

        • -1

I've yet to find an eBay price for masters that isn't the same on their website.
          https://www.masters.com.au/product/900045954/stanley-fatmax-…
I'm not saying their price isn't too high but they haven't Jacked the price up for this eBay sale.
That's easily Countered though by using their price match policy to your advantage.

        • @dan76n: That particular hammer was $69 on their online store not long ago.. Even at $69 i thought it was over-priced. I just hate seeing such a vast disparity between what we pay and what Americans pay.

Just bought Logitech G502 for $44.80 from Dick Smith. Not bad as their price in store is $89.98. Was going to get from MSY y'day for $49 but decided to wait - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Logitech-G502-Gaming-Mouse-/25170…

    • Awesome price!

    • +1

Message said pick up by Wed 2. Got a notification at 4:30 that order was ready for pickup at the branch I selected so I got it before it closed. Am happy.

    • Damn this post. Just bought a mouse!

      • Didn't know petbarn had a discount as well!

  • I wanna get the Samsung Note 4 for $849 and Canon G7X for $898 (list prices) from TGG. Should I split this across two transactions? Can I have two transactions from the same store?

    • +2

Definitely split it as the max discount is $200 per transaction.

Nothing wrong with two transactions from the same store (apart from paying extra postage, which is dwarfed by the extra discount you'll get anyway).

    • Should be able to.

    • Bought three phones in three transactions - approx $150 off each.

  • +7

I just noticed Dick Smith have lowered the Playstation 4 price from $586 back down to $548. With the discount it comes down to $438 then use cash rewards for extra 2%. It's ok but i'm still not buying .. ive seen it cheaper.

    • +1

I was pretty keen to pick up a PS4 today, but after DSE changed their prices and even though they have put them back it is more than enough to put me off. It might not be the best price but it is still pretty good. DSE stop trying to fool your customers! that is how you lose them…

    • +6

I'm no financial whizz, but the last time the Consoles were cheaper was in July and August when they had them for $400 after the code. At that point in time the AUD vs the USD was a whole lot better (approx 93c vs 85c now) , I think a lot of people are forgetting to take that into account at the moment and that price is actually pretty good if you are after a console only deal.

  • +2

Worth mentioning that Flybuys are offering points for purchases on ebay now: https://www.flybuys.com.au/estore-sign-in

    • +1

does this mean you'll need to choose between flybuys points and cashrewards?

    • +3

I dont think you can use flybuys and cashrewards at the same time. I will choose cashrewards.

      • Why would you need to choose? Can't you just have both cookies in your browser?

        • I am not sure if I can have both cookies valid in my browser or not. Did you succeed getting both rewarded?

        • @tianyujojo: haven't tried

    • +5

      thats less than 0.5% rebate…

      • is the 2% cashrewards calculated on the listing price or after the 20%?

        • Listing price.

      It's a monster

      • thanks would love to grab that but was hoping to take advantage of 20% off ebay promo wont work with omniblend

        • Don't matter man, why buy a piece of crap one at a discount when you can buy the king. That's also technically $300 off, because it's a vitamix.
Go on youtube and type in Omniblend, if you're serious about smoothies, YO

  • +8

****ing hell why do they jack the prices up when ebay covers the cost

    • +6

Because they get even more profit and they get away with it.

  • Anybody know if receipts from Appliances Online Ebay store are different to their "normal" receipts? The samsung cash back offers say they cant be purchased from an ebay store. I spoke to goodguys who confirmed their ebay store receipt would not be accepted by samsung;(

    • I dunno about appliances online, but whenever I have purchased from good guys on ebay i get the standard ebay invoice, and when the parcel arrives, included in that is the standard good guys tax invoice (just as you get if you purchase directly from them online or instore). I have used the latter to claim TRS and no issues whatsoever.

    • I bought my TV from them during the last ebay 20% off.

From memory, the receipt they emailed mt didn't have an ebay logo on it.

      • Can anyone else confirm this? Being able to claim the cashback from Samsung would make things a lot cheaper.

    • Hi, what samsung cashback are you taking about? Can you show me the link? I just purchased a fridge from samsung, was not sure if i can claim some cashback. Thanks.

    - on the site : $164

    • +6

Why no comment? Very shameful of them!

      • +3

Exactly. Start naming and shaming them with consumer affairs - there have already been complaints, and there is obviously a pattern.

  • -3

    Any iPhone 6?

  • +2

What I don't understand is why the companies are jacking up their prices if it's not going out of their pocket. What I understand from the description is eBay pays for the 20%, not the companies.

    • it gives the perception that there is a 20% sale. drive sales away from ebay to their own website to reduce cost per sale. low cost leads.

    • +4

Some people here seem to forget that any price increase is pure profit to the company.

Whilst we can doubt the ethics of such a practice, I find it very odd that so many people are confused why this is happening.

It may actually be that the 20% off is not actually all ebay and there is some shared liability between the companies.

    • Yh I would have thought it would have been a good time to sell a lot of product with no profit loss. I guess Price up 10% then 20% off = 10% profit increase. Maybe.

    • -3

      Item 100 - ebay20 = upay 80 total cost to dicks 100 - ebay seller fees = Dick Weiner = ebay Weiner
Item 120 - ebay24 = upay 96 total cost to dicks 120 - ebay seller fees = Dick Weiner More, Greed Good la!

Also few kickbacks to and fro

Customer rarely weiner with these promotions but make feel like Winner/Weiner

      Feel free to modify

    • How do you know that? It's probably 10/10.

    • Not necessarily- the companies may pay part of it. They also have to pay seller and ebay fees which they would not pay if they sell directly.

  • -1

Just Under $600 seems good for a Dick Smith 54.5 inch led TV?
