8-Outlet Surge Protected Powerboard + (2 USB Charging Ports) - $24.95 + Postage @COTD

Connexia 8-Outlet Surge-Protected Powerboard + 2 USB ports

Shipping is around $7.86 - $9.95 depending on area.
Maximum $9.95 Postage Cap : So you can add numerous other items, and COTD will only charge the cap - excl. bulky items.

Credits to @exile for finding this, in this previous "4-Outlet + 6 USB Port" Deal.

As OnTheMark mentioned on the other deal, the Maximum total output is 4.2A which is deceiving when advertised as having all 6 devices plugged in. in a sense that the extra 3-4 Ports become useless after maxing out with heavy drawing primary devices.

With this item, for $5 more, I found the 8-outlet (extra 4 power ports) more useful as opposed to just 4-outlets and 6 x USBs' that can't be all fully utilized.

This 8-Outlet power board has USB Power Output 5V : 1 x 2.1A [2100mA] (and)** 1 x 1A [1000mA]**. picture

Also add on a Green 4-Port USB Charging Adapter or Yellow for $19.95 (no additional postage if you're using the Shipping Cap $9.95).

I bought this last time, proved to be very good. The output quality is on par (if not better) with original genuine factory supplied chargers supplied with brand new smartphones (Samsung, LC and HTC chargers).

I would not recommend this for use in a bedroom unless you are scared of the dark.

hah yep, had to put electrical tape over the lights

    • I wouldn't recommend it for use ANYWHERE.

Seriously.. I dare you to undo the screws, look at the components inside, then continue to use it.

It's $5 of parts and soldering by a 3 year old. It's surely a fire hazard in itself.

      • only cheap chinese unknown brands, not Connexia.

      • I negged a similar deal for the same item in the past because of the poor quality of the board.

The indicator globes and the USB charger on mine failed very early, and the "Energy saver function cuts power to peripheral devices on standby" feature advertised by COTD page seems to be phantomware. The thread I've included discusses how limited the surge 'protection' is.

While it is doing an OK job as a switched powerboard at home, the unreliability of the other features makes it seem a bit overpriced.

Thanks I had a good read, if it fails I'll just return it, COTD are willing to accept - great news. I'm covered.

  • https://m.catchoftheday.com.au/product/10-outlet-connexia-po… Is this one any good for the same price?

    • It's good but Max output for both USB ports are Maximum 2000mA only. So if you plug two devices in, they're sharing the 1000mA each. and there's no individual on/off switches for each power socket. I would still prefer this one that has a 2100mA + 1000mA. for 2 power sockets less.
