Missed out on the deal for the AX760, but this is a close second. Cheapest on Static Ice is $214 and Camelx3 says it's a good deal (Best Price actually).

Rated 80 Plus Gold vs 80 Plus Platinum on the AX760, but for silent PC enthusiasts this model may work out better as word has it that Platinum rated Seasonic units have electrical noise; Seasonic made the AX760 while the RM850 (and RM750) are made by Chicony.

Both the RM850 and the RM750 are the same price at the moment, so you would be crazy to get the RM750 over the RM850.

Edit: Also, this doesn't really deserve its own post but if you missed out on the Samsung EVO micro SD deal, Amazon are also selling the 32GB for 14.99USD. Not so good a deal on its own (5.05USD shipping), but if you tag it on to another order, shipping is just 0.06USD. Or you could go for the 64GB @ 29.99USD. Either way, camelx3 says it's a Good Deal.

  • They had the 1000 watt for $149 yesterday

Although the RMA would be a headache from Australia as i have heard (didnt happen to me) that amazon wont cover return shipping for PC items.

SO might be worth paying a little bit extra ($220 @ MSY) for local warranty through the PC shop you buy from

    • Fascinating. Do you have a link about the RMA?

      • Corsair warranty operates internationally, buyers are asked to post to the closest service centre. For Australia, it would be Hong Kong, which costs around $70.

If you're lucky, Amazon might cover it for you.

        • If you buy it from a local PC shop, they will RMA it for you at no cost

    • +3

I returned a corsair PSU and Amazon covered the $100 Aud postage cost. So they do it, but whether it's for all situations I'm not sure.

      • Sounds good enough for me =]

  • I've got a Corsair RM750 and I absolutely love it, my case is reasonably well ventilated and I don't think I've ever had the fan turn on. If you care about having a quite PC it's a great buy.

  • I have the 650 i'm pretty sure and it's awesome. Remember to look at psu and case dimensions to see if the psu will fit! The 650w one was a tight fit for me, and going up to a 750 or 850 would have been impossible, but I have a matx case…

I don't think the fan has ever turned on, and absolutely NO coil whine of any kind. It's great.

  • My SilverStone GD06 case specs say I'm limited to a 150mm PSU. Would this fit ?

Corsair ps specs are 150mm x 86mm x 180mm but I'm not sure dimension my case spec is referring to.

    Thanks.

    • Err, pretty sure they're talking about length which is a no won't fit. This is a pretty big PSU.

      • Thanks for that.

  • An alternative to the Corsair RM850 that you may want to look into as well and could also buy locally would be the EVGA SuperNOVA 850W G2. It does cost slightly more (it seems price for it has risen) with staticice showing MSY selling it for $181.
