  • Sorry MM its a dupe from here. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/166942
    Good deal though.

    • Thanks KT, I have talked with Moderator, they said its fine as long as its not in the title of the post.

  • can someone plz help

do u think this HP is better or this acer: http://www.onlinecomputer.com.au/product_info.php?products_i…

acer is $50 cheaper but comes with 2 yr warranty and touch screen but 3rd generation i3

also….from longetivity wise…which is the better of two?

    • I would go with the HP. Better specs, touch screen is pretty useless on a lappy and Acer has a general reputation of crappy hardware - hinges breaking, buttons failing that sort of thing plus third gen cpu.

      • I switched from an Acer to HP and I have to say they are probably as bad as each other in terms of performance, my acer was i5 4GB Ram and 500GB HDD, and HP is same except CPU is i7, but you can't tell the difference in CPR at all when using them. In fact the Acer sometimes feels faster than the HP with the HP being extremely laggy at times, my only issue with the Acer is that it overheats easily and the keyboard is a bit funny.

Having said that I would totally agree with you to go for the HP if avitherock is choosing between these two, as i3 should not be considered even at cheap prices, and touch screen laptop is just meh IMO.

        • There's next to bugger all difference between this i5 (4210U) and the other laptop with the i3 (3227U). They're both only dual cores with a 3M cache. The i5 actually has a lower base frequency of 1.7GHz compared to the i3's 1.9GHz making it slower… except in turbo where it can operate up to 2.7GHz.
So yes, the i5 in this case is actually better, but it's not always as black & white as you make it out to be!

  • +1

    1366x768… Ew…

    • +1

Pretty sure that's the standard unless you're in the ~$1k or over price range for a laptop. I agree it does seem quite low, though, particularly with the ridiculous resolutions on phones and tablets these days.

      • yup. bought a laptop 2 weeks ago..

you wont get a higher res for less than 1000..

        Dell was 1300$ with 1920.x1080 - ridiculous!

i thought all the laptops were rubbish, no hard disk access, no ram access, just one big cover on the back.

took the cover off one Dell it had one stick of 4gb, what happened to dual channel?

i was dissapointed how things have changed in last 2 years and bought a Macbook air instead

  • Just bought one.
I believe it will be better than my 5.5 year old Dell Inspiron 1545.

  • Price back up to $698
