This is worth about $55.56 in "cash" for anyone who was wondering.
    Coles/Woolies $100 gift card is 18000 points
    $20 is 4500 points.

10000 points at $55.56 is calculated using the 18000 points for the $100 gift card.

Not really, I'll buy Velocity points at 1c/point if you're going to go down that gift card route.

    • 20,000 points on the other hand is worth quite a bit in 'Virgin Flights'. (If you're comparing to other carriers, 10,000 points is probably worth around $55 in Tiger flights).

NB: The only reason to continue this card after the first year (assuming you can't waive the second year's fee) is for the "Fly together and save" feature. Which is a pita to use. Requires booking via phone and one month in advance.

Thanks OP, good post! I'm glad you wisely emphasised the "no annual fee/ 10,000 points" terms/deal, rather than the other stuff on offer ("up to 20,000 points with no fee IF you spend …", or "60,000 points with a ~$300 fee", etc.). Clearly you know your audience quite well!

  • Hmm so if we take up this offer and also spend 5k in the first three months, we can get a 100$ gift card with points leftover

It's a good card, not many cards have 1 for 1 velocity points

    • Note the points are capped to 1,500 per month ($1,500/month) and halved after that (1 pt / $2).
