You should clarify: no actual comics shipped, just a digital download.
Worse, it is in some non-standard DRM-encrusted format, which will be unreadable in a few years.
Either when you update devices, or their server shuts down.

??? The format is readable in dedicated apps for ios, android and windows 8, along with any browser. What format were you thinking of moving to that isn't covered?

And do Kindle users share the fear that amazon will suddenly switch off its servers, leaving then without their books?

      • Also comixology is moving to drm free if that's your choice. Pretty much every major publisher is now on board except marvel and dc. But that's only a matter of time.

      • along with any browser

Ah - so it all depends on their server? All proprietary systems get abandoned. Remember Microsoft "Plays for Sure"?
Do they support my Sony e-Reader?

I don't know what will be next after Android. Do they?

And do Kindle users share the fear

They should to a lesser extent, though Amazon is so dominant that the AZW format (a modified MOBI) will be useful for a while.
Still cannot possibly compare to real comic books.

My Kindle is full of DRM-free EPUB (needs a 3rd party reader), PDF and MOBI. They will also read on Sony, Nexus, Apple, …

Also comixology is moving to drm free if that's your choice.

Good news! It hasn't done Apple any harm. (for music - lets hope books and movies will follow.)

        • I prefer the DRM version of my comics. As a rule I back up with the DRM Free versions in case anything happens. But the DRM copies via the Comixology app on my tablet allows me to close the app and come back to the same page later. Keeps track of what I've read. Has a native panel view which makes reading digital comics great.
