Be aware the performance of these drives drops off due to a bug. I have two :(

    • I wonder if the fix is a hack because of a hardware fault or if it's a genuine fix

      • I think its a fundamental flaw in the design of the drive. The fix basically shuffles data around to prevent it causing a loss of performance. Last time I buy Samsung, my Intel and Sandisk SSDs have been flawless.

        • LOL, haven't noticed a difference here nor has Crystal Disk Mark, on the other hand that dead Sandisk I sent back a fortnight ago…

The general view is that it's a fundamental flaw within the firmware and therefore something that should be able to be completely addressed by a new firmware update which is scheduled for release at the middle of this month. All major manufacturers (including Intel) seem to experience this type of problem with their products at some point in time. Only the 840 and 840 EVO drives suffer from this particular problem ie not the 830, 840 Pro or 850 Pro SSDs. I wouldn't think that the problem is sufficiently consequential to deter people from purchasing Samsung SSDs in the future - if it was, then we probably shouldn't be purchasing hardware from any other major manufacturer either.

    • Does it effect all of the EVO drives or just the 250GB?

    • Thankyou, I have one installed and had no idea about any bug…
