Unlocked, Refurbished 32GB AT&T HTC One M7 for $215USD + $28.26 Shipping @ Qualitycellz eBay

584

Amazing price and even more shocking, they ship to Au for $28.26.

This isn't my first post, so feel to call me a poopy face.

Edit:
Ok, lets clear this up. AndroidPolice isn't the seller (thought that was obvious). I used that link as I thought the comments on the article might be helpful for those thinking of buying. The seller is http://www.ebay.com/usr/qualitycellz

Mod: Note that the OP has broken the eBay posting guidelines as the seller is not a top rated seller. However, due to it being on the front page and has been published for a long amount of time it will remain.

It's also noted that this phone is not compatible with the 4G networks in Australia, however it is with the 3G networks. Buyer beware.

    Good morning poopy face :)

    • +13

You can always count on the Ozbargain community :P

  • +3

    Thanks Poopy…

  • thanks to its SIM-unlocked condition (according to the reseller), it should play nice on most international 3G and LTE networks.
    1. are they the same as here?

(But not non-AT&T LTE bands in the States, of course.)
2 how is oz AT+T compatible then?

According to the listing, the phone comes with an HTC warranty. The terms aren't posted, but most refurbished goods get a 90-day term.
3 how reliable is the work?

    a good find i think.

  • +2

Does HTC Aus honour international warranty?

  • +2

    Don't tell me what doo-doo!

  • +$28.26 shipping…

    • +3

What shipping is the guy using? Its ok if it is USPS, but run a mile if it is Pitney Bowles.

  • +1

    Tempting!

    EDIT: $291.05 AUD.

    • Should be $280.

      • That was my total via PayPal, shipping to QLD.

        • Are you using paypals conversion rate or a linked credit card (with no conversion fees)?

        • Get a 28 degrees card or citibank plus account, then pay using that in the original currency. You will get the proper exchange rate and save heaps over time.

  • +5

Android police is not selling this phone. Please see posting guidelines here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:deal_posting_guidelin…

    • +1

Care to share reason to neg my comment?

  • +7

    This is a bonafide bargain.

For those who may be less informed, there is a good chance the 4G won't work here due to hardware differences between the US and AUS models (and the networks we use), but the 3G should work based on some reviews I've read on whirlpool where people have imported AT&T unlocked handsets.4G isn't rolled out everywhere anyways.

    Phone functions should work fine.

Don't hold me to any of the above though please, I've ordered two so I'm yet to confirm!

  • +4

I think you'll find this post will be pulled by the mods as the phone is being sold on eBay by a non-premium seller, which doesn't meet OB guidelines.

    • +1

What about this? "An exception is where the seller already has an online store. In this case, the deal can be posted if the 'alternative store domain' (under the deal URL) is set at the time of posting." I don't know, I'll leave it for the mods to decide.

      • +4

I agree, but Andoid Police is a forum, much like Whirlpool. It's not a store.

        • +1

          ^this.

        • I didn't put 'Andoid Police' in the title. JSQUARED did that revision, which I've since removed. The store is http://www.ebay.com/usr/qualitycellz?_trksid=p2047675.l2559

        • @PainToad:
Thanks Toad. We'll leave this to the mods to work out :)

        • +4

@tightarse: i see you've switched over to daylight saving TA

        • +1

          @cornbeef:
Change is as good as a holiday they say.

        • so where is actual link to deal or phone now?

        • @PainToad: Ah didn't check this was linked to a forum linking to an eBay listing, my bad.

        • @JSQUARED:
So JJ, as a PU, do you believe it's a valid eBay listing?

        • +2

@tightarse: Nope as the seller's not top rated, and doesn't have a separate website.

        • @JSQUARED:
Thanks, thought that was the case.

        • @tightarse:
If it is indeed against the rules, I hope the mods move it to forums rather than delete, as it is a 'good buy', if not a 'ozbargain'.

  • +4

So, you're saying that we are facing a pile of poop?

  • +2

No card slot and a 4MP front camera.
Also it's longer than a Galaxy S3 but has a smaller screen because of the front facing speakers.
    http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_one-5313.php

  • At that price I pooped myself…

  • Since when did Androidpolice get into the phone selling business -_-

    • They don't, however they've always posted really good deals on Ebay etc.

  • can see the specs here select US Version and scroll to the specs

Almost $300 for a REFURB than may not work with 4G and has NO LOCAL WARRANTY is NOT a bargain more like a headache

    • I personally prefer referbs. More attention to QA and I'm not bothered with a slight cosmetic imperfection.

        • Some people even like getting poo'd on

Thanks for letting me know. If this deal isn't for you, why are you lurking in the first place?

        • +2

          @EPICSALETIME:
I'm tired of the "if this deal isn't for you then go away" attitude that people here display when they don't like someone's comment/opinion.

Admittedly I think pmupsinep's comment was harsh, but this website is a forum for people to discuss bargains. If you don't think something is a bargain and/or the bargain is not for you doesn't mean you can't contribute to a conversation.

No, less ram and screen resolution is less also.
      Probably other things as well.

    • +5

      That is a fake.

    • +4

DHL M7 Phone - this is a chinese brand :) just copied the HTC in design the rest is a typical Chinese low to mid level phone specs… quite expensive if you compare it to others of the same kind.

      • Thanks!

  • -5

When I see anything advertised as refurbished it turns me off because what could they possibly do to refurbish something.
In the case of a mobile phone they will reset it, is that really refurbishing?

    • +3

you need to understand that mass production isn't perfect.
A lot can (and does) go wrong in the manufacturing process.
There are always rejects- some rejects can be refurbished, but can't be sold as new.

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q1G2NXR7zmk

Just because they are everywhere- doesn't mean phones are easy to make.

  • +4

No proper store (not a premium/top-rated seller), plus the device is not compatible with Australian 4G in most likelihood.

  • +2

Nice built phone with crap camera, the price is not cheap for US refurb stock with potential 4G compatible issues in Australia.

    • Disagree with camera. This guy's never used this phone properly obviously lol

      • +1

HTC's 4MP camera (with Ultra-Pixel technoledge) simply cannot beat iPhone 5 lines' 8MP cameras or most of 13MP android flagships. The photo quality by M7 are OK if viewing from the phone, but it lacks in details.

HTC ONE M8 shares the same camera sensor as M7 (Only difference is M8 has one more little camera on the back for assessing depth of field). The photo quality is a bit better from the M8 (mainly because of camera software improvement), but if people want more detailed and quality photos, they should never use these 2 phones.

The good news is, HTC will release its new flagship phone with improved camera (hopefully 13MP) in a few days.

        • +2

Your talking about day time pictures (or pictures in well lit areas), yes the detail will be missing in those, night time pics are a different story. I appreciate your point of view and nothing wrong with it but make sure you include the full reasoning behind what HTC wanted to achieve :)

Yes there is a new M8 called M8 eye … 13mp it is also meant to have a 13mp f2.0 front facing camera. :) i do wish they upgraded the battery to be closer to other flag ships… the 3000mah batteries on LG G2 etc make a huge difference.

          http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/131245-htc-one-m8-eye-pops-u…

i'm an M7 owner i doubt i'll move away from HTC if they keep up the same attention to detail :)

        • +1

@scud70: Yes, I am an ex-owner of M7, M7 has better low-light performance I agree, but its overall camera performance is normal (people take more day-time photos than night ones, I guess? Nokia Lumia phones do a great job in low light as well.)

The things I love about this phone are its aluminum unibody design (looks good and feels great in hand) and the boomsound speaker, nothing else.

        • +1

          @jva:
I agree the camera is not so good. I got rid of it simply because of the camera.
I miss how fast the UI was though, other manufacturers still can't catch up with the speed of the UI.

        • @jva: I use it over my 930 at night :) day time I use my lumia 930 def…

        • +1

@jva: I have also been a previous user of m7 and an iPhone 5, tbh Apple is one of the best in cameras and has been for a while. But how about all the other phones cameras? To compare it to one of the best and to call m7 a good phone and a craps camera that's lacking.

        • +6

          @jva:

people take more day-time photos than night ones, I guess?

That really depends on the person. I take more indoor shots than outdoor shots, so found the low-light capabilities very useful. The speed was fantastic as well. Very responsive.

It's not just the low-light capabilities either - the 28mm-equiv wider-angle lens means I can squeeze more people or things into the photo compared to other phones.

          @clse945111:

I agree the camera is not so good. I got rid of it simply because of the camera.

I actually bought it (and the M8) because of the camera. I use it to take happy/fun/random snaps, not masterpieces that I want to enlarge and hang on a wall.

          I did a very simple low-light test between the M7, S3, S4, and Xperia Z a while back:

@eug: trust us jva when we say we've tested many phone cameras throughout our lives, and I loved the M7 camera, it was just great. Nice work eug.

  • +1

LTE bands for the AT&T version of this phone is 2, 4, 5, 17 so it won't be compatible to any 4G network here. In all likelihood the seller probably doesn't intent to sell this to overseas buyers and just have Global Shipping turned on by default. Seems to be the case with a lot of US sellers.

  • +1

All things considered, pretty expensive for an android phone heading towards 2 years old.

  • -6

Worth $150 refurbished and no 4G, why would anyone even bother.

    • +1

      *In your opinion.

$150 doesn't buy you much of a phone nowadays. Not to mention not all carriers (e.g., Amaysim) offer 4G services so for some buyers it's a moot point.

    • By the time you get it here it's getting close to $300. I think that would be a good price if it was the Australian version, but being an import with no warranty and no 4g its too much to ask. Its certainly worth more than $150, that's just being ridiculous.

      • +5

Ronnie, I don't agree with you but I respect your post (and vote) as it's reasonable and justified. Saying this is worth $150 however is clueless.

        • +2

Well I'll be ecstatic if I can sell my brand new one I got as a replacement through warranty that still has around 12 months warranty for 250, but I doubt too many people will pay that for an old android phone.

Deals like these are much better

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/161191

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/153415

The nexus 4 that has similar specs to the m7 sold for less than $300 new over 12 months.

I'm surprised any ozbargainer considers this a good deal for such an old phone with no warranty and no 4g. When better phones new have sold for around $300 with newer tech, warranty and 4g.

    • +1

I was a previous user and it's worth a lot more than that. It's still a fast android phone which is capable a lot just short of specs compared to the flagship phones nowadays. But it really does perform.

  • +2

Will also be upgraded to Android L, so that is awesome too.

  • Those complaining about lack for 4G, you can easily flash a Aussie modem file using Odin to enable 4G network compatibility.

    • What, use Odin with a HTC phone?

      • Aaah. My bad. Looks like you can only flash via Recovery.. (or ADB)
        http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2342544
        Still, not hard.

        • Awesome. Has it been confirmed that the radio circuitry is identical?

I remember opening up the Galaxy S2 9100 and 9100T and finding that the antenna PCB is different. Flashing the 9100's radio onto the 9100T results in very, very poor reception.

        • @eug:
In my experience (I have bought Samsung phones from Romania, France, and Hong Kong) the hardware is all the same (with the exception of those nasty T Telstra variants and their software..). Avoid those.
Have flashed modem/radios and all have worked perfectly.
As always though do your own research.. (Like I thought Odin was universally used, but obviously its just Samsung software.) And you'll need to find a modem that works with your network.

        • @Draxxx:

In my experience (I have bought Samsung phones from Romania, France, and Hong Kong) the hardware is all the same (with the exception of those nasty T Telstra variants and their software..). Avoid those.

Well, we're talking about a US AT&T phone here.. the AT&T version of the Samsung Galaxy S2 is the SGH-I777, not the GT-I9100 that pretty much the rest of the world uses. The ROMs aren't interchangeable.

Is the AT&T M7 the same as the ROW M7s? You did say it's easily flashable, so I assumed you were sure of it. But just in case people blindly start flashing radios without checking, I thought I'd better double-check.
