Was yesterday at my local Kmart (MOE) and saw that they were selling of the Vodafone basic data package with USB stick (3G) and 1GB of data for only $2.-
To be honest i just recycle the sticks but the data allowance is nice for $2.-

Picked up plenty of the $9 Vodafone 3GB including 3G+ USB modem at Coles a few weeks back. Only slightly dearer than this & plenty of stock was left at all stores I visited at end of sale.
Likely to be rare stock like the Kmart $20 Pocket WiFi Extreme deal ages ago when only that OP was lucky in a store in Cairns.

These very old stock bargains should not be listed as deals, as often lack minimum stock to make it a deal.
Have checked a few Brisbane Kmart for modems lately & saw none.
People waste their time trying to find almost non-existent stock. That's why the similar Coles deal was great.
I recently posted an old stock deal, but checked stock was showing as available (& hoped more stock did exist than the 1 I bought). Turned out to be a popular deal, with over $10,000 sold. But people posting should check stock levels, at least at 1 more store.
But then you know all about that deal ;-) For me it is a fading memory.
The model was about 2 years old when you posted the deal. All Brisbane stores I contacted (BigW, not Kmart as I incorrectly stated) had 'not stocked that unit for a long time' and some said Vodafone had taken back old stock, according to staff. I spent a few hours on a futile hunt. Like this deal, no one reported finding a single modem.

Great Deal OP, but just called Kmart and they said this is really old stock and they stopped stocking them.
This might be a stupid question, but can the SIM cards from these be used in other devices to utilise the 1GB of data? e.g a tablet
yes, they can. That is why i got it.

No evidence of stock at any other locations and multiple people reporting its old stock and their local stores don't have it. Not a valid deal.
