50% off BBQs in BBQ Category on eBay (Sunday - 31/8)

4520
CSIZZLE50

Looks like anything listed as a 'BBQ' under the BBQ category will be entitled to a 50% off discount this sunday! (Max $250 discount)

"The offer entitles you to a 50% discount off the total purchase price (excluding postage) of BBQs in the BBQs category on www.ebay.com.au purchased during the Offer Period."

Hopefully we see some other stuff listed in the category too (assuming that works).

WARNING:
eBay have just added this line to their T's and C's:

eBay reserves the right to disallow or reverse a discount in circumstances where it believes a sale or purchase of any BBQ or other item as part of this sale has not been made in good faith. This includes any collusive conduct by buyers or sellers or any other conduct which eBay considers to be unfair or untoward.

(Thanks JDF)
Be wary of buying items that aren't BBQ's in the category with the discount!

Regardless, anyone after a BBQ should check out eBay this sunday!

  • 1 transaction only (per account)
  • Multiple items per transaction allowed
  • $250 max discount ($500 spend)
  • Must pay with PayPal
  • Must purchase during the offer period (Sunday)

Wonder how they will deal with all fake BBQ sales. Quickly reviewing purchases and reversing any suspicious sales should be doable since it's through PayPal, but some might have been sent already etc by the time they get around. Not sure what else they can do though, can't really withdraw extra money from buyer without authorization and wouldn't be easy to try and chase up seller for it. Maybe they will pull an all nighter and have everything reversed by morning :)

Edit: although if eBay contribution was instant, the seller might have transferred the money already. Not really sure how it works, but I suppose eBay probably has it covered.

    • Doesn't look like they can really do anything. I bought an outdoor lounge and they've removed the transaction but left a note assuring me that if I've sent payment, that the process will go through as normal. Well I sure hope so anyway.

  • Hi All need a help first i bought a weber from a store & after i got a feeling he can't fulfill my order & I ordered another one from TGG & I am keep trying to cancel my initial order but getting no resonse. My credit card details is showing full amount credit for both transaction.Getting bit worried do I am going to receive both with full price?Seriously not intended to make profit.what you guys recommend at this stage?

    • So if what you are saying is that you purchased both Weber's through Ebay using CSIZZLE50 and on the same Ebay account then you are screwed in that you may get one at the discount price and the other will be charged at full price (or you will have the 50% discount from the second purchase charged back to your credit card) as the promotional code was applicable to a one time use per person only.

    • Worst case scenario, you get 2 bbqs. One with up to $250 off and the other at full price as you can only use the code once. Best case scenario, you get the TGG one at full price as the first one get cancelled.

    • When you made your purchase, did you make sure that the discount was applied. If it does, then your card should only be charged the discounted amount as that is what you confirmed when making payment. If your card is charged in full, then most likely you didn't apply the discount properly.

Btw, when you said your credit card is charged in full, is this your actual credit card statement or are you looking at your Paypal transaction. If Paypal transaction, look at the details as on summary it will show the full amount, but when you see the details, it should show the discounted amount being charged to your credit card and the balance from the promotion.

    • Thanks guys finally got cancelled my first order & going to receive my weber tomorrow.Surprisingly I managed to order both webers at discounted price but that was bit unfair with other customers who were desperate like me.

  • Guys when I look at my paypal account it shows the full amount paid for the bbq

Example - Bbq was $300 on PayPal transactions it shows $300 paid from my paypal account

    On my invoice it shows $300 - $150 = $150 paid total

    Anyone?

    • +1

Yeah so you've only had $150 taken out of your account. PayPal covers the remaining $150

    • +1

Yes that's is correct, that's how they invoice it.
Basically you paid $150 and eBay/PayPal kicked in $150. The total sale is shown as $300.

      • Ahh ok thanks
Was worried I was paying the full amount when I saw the full price on my paypal account

        • @twisty yep i had exactly the same concern when i first bought mine but after some quick sums with what i originally had in my PP balance they did only take out 1/2 from my balance and 1/2 they kicked in as already stated above. was a little shocked/worried when i first noticed it

  • Anyone picked up their BBQ from down under camping slacks creek yet? Their phone is constantly engaged. I'm assuming they are purposely doing this…

    • +1

      Picked up 3 yesterday

    • +1

Picked up ours today no worries, just had to show them the ebay receipt.

    • Called and got through at about midday on the 1st, lady said they were out of stock but were expecting more later that day or today (the 2nd). She said they would send a message through on Ebay when I could pick it up. I'll call up again if I don't get any message tomorrow.

      • It's weber central down there… apparently all the pick up orders are good to go…

    • Picked mine today and saw their store was flooded… with Weber.

  • Just got an email and weber has been shipped already due to be here tomorrow. Plus my cash back has come through already making the family weber q at a nice $450!

  • +1

    who forgot the cashback?

    • What cashback is that?

      • +1

Cash rewards.com.au luckily I signed up just before the promotion scoring another $14 roughly!

  • Email from BCF. My weber Q200 is waiting for courier. Also got my 2% cashback confirmed on the total amount INCLUDING the 50% discount. Such a good deal. Such a bad promotion.

    • That's who I got mine with too!

Decided to go with them at 10:01 as they didn't have a stock limit.

  • I have been racking my brain over it today but how is that seller of the bbqs that is drop shipping making a profit.

If he sells a weber q 305 for $700 and getting it from appliances online for $669 then he is making $31. But eBay and PayPal fees alone would be $80 right?

    Am I missing something?

    Thanks.

    • $31 x 300 = $9k.

      Minus tax etc

Not bad for 24hrs of work.

      • Still don't get it, eBay fees would be double that.

        • For standard people with no accounts or such ebay+paypal fees are ~13% of the total price.
It can go down to 6-9% for stores.

It's about volumne. If I got everyone in Australia to give me $1 I would have 24million dollars. $1 to you might not be anything, but ask enough people and you will win!

    • I heard you guys talk about him, but I never looked at his items or prices. Could it be that he has an ebay store or similar? I'm not sure what the price structure of these are, but I'd assume it is vastly different from private sellers.

So say max 6% ebay fee + maybe 2-3% Paypal.

        So 9% max fee.

        on $500 that's say $50.

So if you buy an item for 380. then that's $450-380 = $70 profit per item.

Simple basic Maths. Which most people dont know how to use.

        • Oh okay what was he selling them for?

        • @treeman: No idea, at least $500, so people can buy the item for $250, for a $370 BBQ.

I got a message from The Good Guys like someone earlier mentioned they won't refund the postage price - my postage is $74.95, so the Baby Q now isn't that greater deal at $220 delivered for me, compared to $266 from Masters. Was going to drive down to my local Good Guys (45 mins away) and grab it as opposed to the $75 postage fee, so pretty disappointed there.

    • Yes that sucks… I am waiting for a reply to my email.

    • My order went to a store that didn't have any stock. They said they would call me when stock comes in and I could pick up in store.

      • what store?

        • Don't worry, have been called back since to be told I'm not allowed to pick up in store now. I have however organised some money back by getting them to price match masters

This would cost TGG $9.75 using Australia Post to post this from the processing store to my house.

Postage was $30 if purchased on their website and $44.06 from their ebay store.

    • Masters price is 239 this morning

  • My local Good Guys are allocated my order but they wont let me pick up despite being 5 minutes away. Have to pay $44 in pointless shipping. So stupid…

    • Same here.

    • Am considering a rare (for me) eBay neg for this.
They should allow pick up. $44 is completely crap value and not worth it for a courier charge considering it a 5 minute drive away. Its stupid. It's a rip off and it's sucking the value out of this otherwise good deal.

      • +1

        neg for Ebay or GoodGuys?

      • +5

conversely, you agreed to the shipping price when you bought it.. its not like it was some hidden cost

        • and at no where does it state pickup is available on there listing either, people would have saved $50-60 over original price and there still not happy lol ,,jeeesh

        • +1

          @warmbeer05:
          Not all all.

The Good Guys have an inconsistent policy. Some customers are allowed to pick up and some are not.
If all stock was coming from some central warehouse then I would be OK with the charge. In this case they are delegating to the closest store. I am in between two large Good Guys stores, both a few minutes drive away. The one that has my order will not budge and I just got off the phone with the other who are "happy to refund the delivery charge"
That makes a big difference to the final price.
$44 is OK as a general delivery charge. Not OK from around the corner (bad value) and not OK that one store charges it and one does not (inconstant) so effectively if you have a nice and reasonable Good Guys you get to pick up and save the fee.
Oh and warmbeer05 wasn't it you that was saying that 100% definitely "no Good Guys would allow pick up"" a few pages back? In fact you called it BS. Well they they obviously do allow it(some of the time).
My neg would be for inconsistent policy and lack of pick-up option when the stock is delegated to local stores.

I'd love to see a copy of a receipt where a partnership/company owned store have refunded shipping costs after purchasing via there ebay shop, I'm in the same boat after purchasing from them and the other guy, atlest is omeone posted up a copy of an actual recipt we would have some type of recourse. won't be holding my breath though lol

        • @King Tightarse:

lol prove it, theres been 2 guys on here that I can find that have said they have allowed pickup and refunded the postage cost, yes i still call bs until one of them posts up a recipt of the altered price, just because someone has commented dosn't make it true buddy, only believe it when you see it, this is the internet after all

        • @warmbeer05:

Read back past Good Guys deals here on Ozbargain.
Heaps of people have had their aBay delivery charges routinely refunded. Its old news. It just depends on the goodness and niceness of you local and like I wrote above, I am between two stores, one will, one "absolutely" will not refund for pick ups.

lol, dont do that to the poor kid he will have a heart attack for his lack of tolerance for the obvious

      • +1

It's a silly policy, but I think if you actually contact the store and talk to someone else, you might be able to get them to hold it for you instead. Their policy is that you can NOT pick up from store, so if you took a gamble on getting someone to make an exception for you, then you can't really blame them. It's a gamble. But yeah, call the store again and I wouldn't be surprised if you can get it sorted (it's really not that much hassle for them).

EDIT: this is the same as all other good guys ebay deals where people gamble and it pays off for some and doesn't for others.

        • when dealing with tgg ebay store and before you purchase and you asking them if pickup is possible you will be told "no but please contact your local store for pricing"

still love to see proof that all these people are getting there postage refunded and are able to pickup lol

        • They ought to tune that policy up and make it consistent. It is obviously going to give people the irritaions if some have to pay and extra $44-$75 and some do not.

        • +1

@King Tightarse: absolutely they should not because it will mean that the luckier than you also miss out (the only way to "tune" it up is to consistently stick with it). your just bitter because you had to work a little harder to get them to drop it, get over it.

        • @warmbeer05:
Read back past Good Guys eBay deals. The answer is heaps of members here reported that yes they can, unless you think everyone is BSing…

        • @nosdan:
There are many ways they could improve it. They could offer a pick up option in eBay for example and of course I am annoyed paying an extra $44 if I dont need to. Where are we again? Lol.

        • @King Tightarse:

refunding how ? via the ebay store then picking via a physical store, no problem they would cancel the transaction and hold the item at the store which is the most likely scenario

    • same for me but mine is almost 30mins drive away so I didn't feel too bad. Would still be happy to collect it myself but the lady insists they want to make the profit on delivery.

    • Just got a call from TGG and also not allowed to pick up as it was purchased through ebay. I have no issues with it as it was clear that when you purchase it you will get charged $44 for shipping and pick up was not indicated on the TGG ebay page as an option. If I was allowed to pick up and get the shipping refunded then it would be a bonus to me.

People who are not happy with the shipping charges when it was clearly stated when you bought the BBQ, then you shouldn't have purchased it in the first place. You should not have counted on that you will be able to pick up and get the shipping refunded as TGG ebay page did not indicate that this is available even though some people in the past was allowed to.

      • Was happy to pay the postage and shipping fee, but when I rang they said they would refund it if I went down to pick it up. So my situation was a little different, as I had already made the trip down to go pick it up but then was told no they would not refund the fee.

Still the policy needs to be clarified so it is clear to the purchaser.

      • "People" means me right? You should address me directly if that is your intention. Lol.
Just spoke to the GG customer care team and they do intend to implement a standardised kind of pick up option later in the year. They are currently stuck with needing to have shipping only due to the legal details of their of eBay requirements, so they say.
They said they always wanted to have the option but there was some delay or problem with the wording of their eBay agreement.
Thus some stores are refunding at their discretion. They said say they will add it as soon as they can, probably by the end of the year.
        EDIT
Good for you jlogic! Well done.

        • I will let you know how I go. But I ain't holding my breath.

        • @jlogic:
I didnt read that all the way until just now. So they told you "yes" to a refund and then "no" when you turned up? Thats frustrating and annoying. I would try to find the original person you spoke to and get them to deal with it.

        • It wasn't directed to you only but on general to anyone who is not happy that they are not being able to pick up. Understand your frustration when you are 5 minutes away. Hopefully TGG will allow pick up in future for their eBay store. But I think the hard thing is that not all of their stores will have stock and might be difficult to allocate a store nearby for the buyer to pick up and not so as much the legal reason they have claimed. At least if they have charged shipping for it and if they are not able to allocate a store nearby, they can use another store maybe from another state to send it out.

The high shipping cost is probably due more to cover themself incase they need to send it from another state. If they end up sending it from a local store, people can always gives a low rating on the shipping costs and/or neutral/negative feedback.

        • @j1568:
I later received another call from the store, this time from a guy who seemed to be ploughing through the orders. He was calling people to let them know that there will be a delay getting my barbie in, actually he said he has orders for 70 Q1000's and would I mind waiting a few more days and once they get it?
Once it comes in to my local, they will courier it from there. Asked again but still no pick up. Have to wait, then have it couriered.

        • I have no problem paying for the postage but I do feel their system is a bit too much. Not allowing anyone to collect to save on postage when there is hardly any effort on their end to arrange self collection. Last time I bought two items from Ebay TGG. Ended up having to collect one from Maribyrnong store and one from Hoppers Crossing store after they allocated the stock. The Maribyrnong store was very kind and offered to rearrange the stock so I can collect from them instead of driving all the way there. I didn't want to waste another day so declined their offer and drove all the way to Hoppers Crossing but I nearly wasn't allowed to collect despite their store has told me over the phone it was OK to collect. It all depends on the staff but I suspect they don't get to make some commission if they don't deliver the item.

        • @wiltonson: I think they don't get to sell any add ons that make more money. So they take the delivery and make something extra. No way would it cost $45 to drive it up the road.

        • No way near $45. Likely below $10 as their truck drop off many items in one round trip.

  • Has anyone's Weber Q from BCF shipped yet? Mine had "Order Packed, awaiting courier" then "Awaiting Pick".

    • Same boat here. Here's hoping it will get out by tomorrow!

Mine is past that stage picked up by delivery driver.

        • when did you guys get the confirmations? I put my order in with BCF at 10:03 and haven't heard a thing.

        • @JLum: I havnt heard anything either. My ebay account says it hasnt been shipped yet.

        • @phocus: Mine arrived this morning despite no confirmations or any emails at all, super stoked!

    • i got the ebay email saying mine has been 'posted' at 6am this morning

      • ok and i just got a call saying that it will be delivered this morning.

    • Mine just arrived! The Track and Trace site wasn't even up to date!

      • Did you get a email from bcf with shipping details? I still havnt received anything since sunday

        • Just got the email that it was packed yesterday with a order number that I can use to track it. Even now that information has not updated.

    • Received my Q200 in Sydney today. BCF tracking still say awaiting pickup.

    • Received mine this morning as well, packaging was damaged but everything inside looked brand new. Turns out my unit was the q2000 not the q200. So glad this worked out!

Maybe these guys were too slow on the draw…

  • Both I and my wife’s accounts got suspended yesterday (presumably permanently) for no reason disclosed.

The only reason we can think of is that we used discount code twice early in the morning on Sunday.

I tried later that day, it didn’t allow me anymore so I didn’t buy a third BBQ.

Does anyone have the same issue?

    • Should give them a call for an explanation.

    • +2

Some more info would be useful. What did you actually buy? Were you selling anything in BBQ category?
Are you saying you each used the code twice in your account (total 4 times) or you each used once?

        • +8

Well this is why all the good stuff gets taken away. Use the bargain for what it is and not to make a quick buck.
