    "No need to be nice"

Reverse psychology won't affect me… Unless you knew I would think that so in that case you're reversing the psychology back although you may have planned that out so you really do want us to be nice… I'm going to leave now…

      dude what are you smoking?

  • Spend a little more and get a Major.

    • How much and which one? I tried my friend's Kitchenaid, but couldnt justify the price.

      • As Oldbugger pointed out, the Chef might not be such a bad compromise. 1000w. Plenty of capacity. About $450 in most Australian retailers (probably got room tom come down a little if you ask them/quote them against each other).

    • Or a lot less than the Major but 300 watts more power than the KMix for $380 delivered. I got this one.

      Welcome OP!

      • Thank you.

Hows the warranty from Amazon UK? I knew stand mixers were cheaper from Amazon (uk, de, it)
But I am afraid if something goes wrong, it will be a problem with warranty too?

This kmix is my first stand mixer, usually use the cheapo handheld from unknown brand.

What is your opnion about this Kmix?

        • +1

I bought three actually (a couple were for gifts) and mine arrived with the dough hook damaged. I didn't think much of it. I bought the mixer knowing there was a risk. But I contacted Amazon UK anyway. They apologised and said they would ship a whole new mixer out to me immediately! They said in the meantime I need to send the whole mixer back to them and they would pay for the return postage costs.

I explained that I'd rather keep it (the dough hook was still usable, just the plastic part broke), also it would cost them close to the cost of the mixer to pay for return postage. They then referred me to a local Kenwood dealer who sent me out a new stainless steel dough hook. All it took was one phone call.

So in that case, warranty worked out very well. I'm not sure if that is the case for everything. But I have only had good experiences with Amazon. But if you are concerned I would contact Amazon UK first. The chat function is easiest and then you can have the conversation sent to you via email.

Regarding the Kmix, it appears to have very good reviews on Amazon.

    • The Kmix is a very good unit and can easily compete head to head with the Kitchenaid. IMHO, no need to spend more.

The wattage of the motor is not a good indication of quality or durability. The motor in the Kmix is of outstanding quality and I'd rather that than the chef's motor by a long shot despite the chef's extra watts.

Seeing that this deal has expired, it may be worth knowing for those looking that you can get it pretty much anytime for around the $400 mark including delivery from Amazon France (amazon.fr). You can use a translating browser (like google chrome) to translate the webpage for you if you don't speak french. The fluctuations in the AUD can make a slight difference from time to time, but right now you can get the Kmix for AUD $401.83 delivered. The only extra cost is having to purchase a electrical plug converter if you don't have one lying around.
