  • Deal (and redemption code) is working as it should. I just bought a TV at 20% off yesterday's price.

This sale is time and quantity limited (I believe), so get in soon if you want to buy something.

    Thanks edgar28.

    • Further to the quantity question, the TV I bought showed 7 units at 10am. Five have sold in 50 minutes, 2 remained a minute ago.

    Olympus XZ-2 for $203.
    Sells for $448 at HN.

    • i bought for $250 last week thinking i got a bargain…they must be selling below cost at $200

  • +5

Just remember, if your spending between $99-$115 on ebay at the dse store you will be between off using the WEEKEND codes and buying on the dick smith website as in effect you will be saving 25% that way

  • +1

    $479.20 for Tab S 10.5 WiFi 16gb after 20% off

  • need a good decent cheap tablet or touch laptop.. can anyone recommend?

  • $4.96 postage PER ITEM is a bit steep, especially considering I'm only after a couple of small items.
ie: PS4 joypad and PS4 camera = 79+75 => $155 -20% => $124 total. somehow I expect I'll be able to buy a PS4 joypad and PS4 camera for cheaper than that within the new few months, so I think I'll pass this sale.

Here are the current listed prices along with comparison to prices from 3 days ago.

Seems like most of the more expensive gear has gone up in price or has been removed :(

    • +1

great work…all the high priced items (tv, laptops) they increased the prices… fukn DICK!
Don't be fooled by the small price items where the savings are like $2-$10…

  • Anyone else still being charged shipping? http://imgur.com/oaf3H6R

    • +1

everyone is being charged shipping, it's a 20% discount, not free shipping sale :)

        • No I was actually referring to their T&C's but I misread what it said…

Free postage within Australia applies unless otherwise stated. For bulky items, free postage may be limited to Australian metropolitan areas only. See listings for further details.

I was going to buy the keyboard cover but I think I might just wait.

      • wrong, i got 20% off my shipping as well - combined total:

  • If only they had decent sized PS Vita memory cards. I went to buy one online months ago, transaction stuck, customer service couldn't help, went back later, sale over. Kind of soured me on their eBay store.

  • +4

Was interested in UA55h7000….with the 20% off its now mysteriously the same price as JB Hifi's notmal price

The Xbox One even with the discount is not even close to the best deal you get can get.

Panasonic 55" (139cm) FHD Smart 3D LED TV TH-55AS700A surpisingly not in stock anymore.

  • +3

Does anyone else feel a bit let down by this?

    • +1

Yes and No. Yes - Only the consoles are worthwhile. No - as a regular visitor of OZB, not buying is actually $$$ saved.

  • +2

Wanted a laptop but after spending half the day researching have realised that even with the sale prices everything in my price range ($800) has crappy 1368X788 rez screens. Major deal breaker lol. It is SO difficult to find out the screen rez of so many laptop models!!!

I think the manufacturers deliberately avoid putting it in their specs because they know it sucks and don't want to put buyers off. Wasted half my Sunday tracking down this info, so pissed off right now…

    • +1

Wasted half my Sunday tracking down this info, so pissed off right now…

What would you have been doing anyway?

The Sunday service at my local parish was cancelled so I feel blessed just to have had a Sunday morning off.

          Good one…Evalord.

    • the resolution really sucks on the mid-range laptops, hold my money for now.

    • If your budget can stretch to $900 you can often get decent Intel i7, 15" 1920x1080, SSD or hybrid HDD laptops from Dell.
Added benefit, you can often customise stuff during the order.. and delivered to your door.

  • Shipping pretty much ruins any deal.

  • +2
    • What's up with that?

  • How the (profanity) is it legal for they to have a sale, but jack up the prices the day before?

How on earth is that legal

    • +1

How on earth is that legal

There is legislation against doing that - However, this is not a Dick Smith sale. This is a 20% discount offer apparently being offered by eBay and PayPal to members of eBay.com.au

      • +1

Thats a very good point - this has very little to do with Dick Smith directly from a price point of view.
I know that someone has been comparing the prices in the days leading up to the sale and one thing I'd like to know is if the prices have actually been raised in many of the cases that people are complaining about or if other discounts have just been removed and the prices returned to their standard pricing, ie if a deal has ended.
I'm not talking about the other discount codes ( which are only relevant to the Dick Smith website, not ebay) that have become almost commonplace over the last couple of weeks.

I think there are a lot of people who have failed to do their research properly and have just seen a post of the price of an item somewhere, and then assume that if it's not 20% off that price that Dick Smith are doing something dishonest and ripping them off.

Dick Smith are a big company and they would surely have a crapload of people looking at this to ensure they stay within the letter of the law, if not always the spirit of it.

  • +1

So the terms and conditions don't seem to have any restrictions - so i assume 20% off would work on even the mobile phones? So the $896 s5's would go down to $717? Which would be pretty good?

Or am i missing something? Assuming all mobiles are valid for the 20% :)

    • Yeah everything in the DS ebay store is fair game.
$717 is probably a pretty good price for an Aus stock 16 Gig S5 but the import ones can be had for a lot less than that..

      • Ok thanks. The imports i hear have issues with warranty or repairing as you have to send it back versus you don't get access to th elocal stores or aus repairers from what I heard? Which is why buying a local stock seemed less troublesome to me.

  • Hmmm the last of us on ps4 is $63.80 on the online store, plus 4.95 postage.. abit shifty given its $59.98 on the online store, and that is usually subject to pick and collect/free shipping? Not to mention the -$15 sale on friday… seems abit sneaky how the ebay store is jacked up slightly.

Still works out to be about $55 on ebay versus the $59.98 on its own website.. but still..

    • alright whatever just took it up at $55… disappointed it couldn't match the $45 on friday's sale with - $15 off, but oh wells… sweet spot for new ps4 games is that mid $50's, can't go wrong.. but $45 is definitely resellable once you play for a decent amount back.

Other than the consoles, this was a pretty underwhelming 'sale'. I was looking forward to picking up a Samsung UA55H7000AW for what should've been $1600, but obviously that was too good to be true.

SAMSUNG 2.1 Bluetooth Sound Bar HW-H551
AU $322.36 final price, I think this is pretty good price

  • Pebble smart watch $131 inc shipping - worth it?
The other new android wearable don't really last and need to be recharged everyday, mainly due to the color screen. I don't mind having a black and white screen given the functionality is similar, with longer battery life.
    Appreciate your comments

I just noticed one of those 5 minute deals- 500 Beats Executive headphones at the giveaway price of $300 and they sold 3 of them.

    • +5

Yep, friggin sweet deal, I bought all 3.

I need all 3; 1 to use, 1 to have around the neck, the final set I just carry, so everyone knows how damn baller I am.

      • +2

I chuckle everytime I see the mirrors they have at the headphones in JB.

Xbox Titanfall pack is available again for anyone interested in the Xbox instead of the PS4.

  • Great, just bought 2 xbox one, one for friend and one for myself. pretty good price after discount as compared to other big retailers.

  • At least they ship some things fast. Phone I bought yesterday for my mum should arrive in Townsville tomorrow.

Their poor follow up with issues cost them last time though.
Bought waterproof speaker, but had water get in it. I raised the issue through their ebay store. No reply for a week so I raised a Paypal dispute. Finally got reply via ebay telling me to go to store for replacement. I said that it was a 1 hour drive. Paypal then refunded me due to no communication from the seller regarding my dispute. Next thing via ebay they say they've sent a replacement out.

Seems the left hand ain't talkin to the right

  • Any one know why they dont have any western digital products like HDDs but have plenty of seagate hdds, seams there trying to clear out the crap

    • +1

Maybe they just don't have a distribution contract with WD?

  • Can you buy Extended warranty for TV online?

    • +1

Why would you buy it anywhere?

      • +1

        Peace of mind

        • +1

Because a full mind wouldn't waste the money? Zing.

        • @PainToad: what do you do after warranty has expired? Zing

        • +1

@varunsic: use your rights under Australian Consumer Law, the credit card protection you purchased the goods with, or buy a new one for a little bit more than the extended warranty costs.

        • +1

          @Chuppa:
As above. Extended warranties are borderline pointless.

  • All of the wireless network routers and modem prices have been reduced. Some deals are preety good such as
NETGEAR N600 Dual Band Wireless Modem Router for $130 after discount.

  • DSE has knocked all but 20% off of the price I paid on Sunday for a phone. The devils. Tempted to get one for myself.
    http://offer.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBidsLogin&item…

Galaxy K Zoom has also had 10% taken off Sunday's price

  • Any ideas how to get customer service for stuff ordered from the eBay store? I used the eBay contact form but got an "out of office"!

I got a PS4 and its now stuck in a Star Track depot marked as "consignment not fit for delivery" and Star Track insist DSE have to contact them. Very frustrating.

    • Call their online customer support on 1300 366 644

      • Thanks, I thought I'd read they insist you use ebay but I just got though and they are following up.

  • Is anyone receiving postal information or do the items just turn up?

Ordered the 60" Sony on Monday afternoon. Expected delivery date on ebay was Monday 25th but am yet to have any updates.

    • +1

I normally receive a tax invoice email followed by a dispatch email from Dicksmiths once they've sorted themselves out - they're not exactly fast.

Give the customer support line mentioned above a call and they can tell you what the delay is.

    • Yours still not arrive?

      • Not yet, received tax invoice and dispatch emails this morning saying its just been shipped. Quoting delivery could take up to 4 days. Tracking number won't be active on Startrack website until 7pm.

  • I bought a Samsung Tab S, which i received today. The package was NOT bubble wrapped furthermore the seal was broken which means it had been OPENED! I am calling Dick Smith.

  • -1

My ebay and dick smith invoice displayed the discounted price. Even the Paypal automated email displayed discounted price. But when I log onto PayPal
Account, it displays the original price deducted from my Paypal activity?! Annoying that I have to follow up to get my discount.

Anybody else have any issues with the cdicksmith20 prices?

    • +1

If you click through to get more details you should see that the complete price is made up of funding from your source (credit card, PayPal balance, etc.) as well as a component from eBay.

      • Thanks Jad. You were right. But the way they present is very convoluted. Worth everyone checking their Paypal account to check discount processed. Now to wait impatiently for my item to arrive.

  • Still waiting for delivery of my 48" Sony. Called the warehouse and they said that they will be recieving stock on Wed (27th) - so hoping for delivery by Friday.

Anyone else still waiting for items?

    • Selling products they don't have in stock, without warning the customer prior to purchasing. Dicks.

      • Yep, purchased with the delivery estimate as last tuesday, so running at 10 days late.
