NBN ready? Probably won't have the same router by the time they have it set up Lel…

    • +5

Maybe I could pass it down to my great-great grandkids to use. NBN might be ready by then…

  • Hey rep, trying to complete the checkout but it's trying to charge me shipping, but it's trying to charge me $16.95 shipping?

    • +1

Sorry about that, it's fixed now!

      • Cheers, ordered! :)

    Should add a disclaimer:
    # NBN not included with this router

The way the "NBN" is going, my 'N150' pocket router should suffice.

    • +3

Yeah, but on the bright side Tony's making our old, slow system $150 per year more expensive.

      • And recycling is good for the environment. Wouldn't want to see all that copper go to waste.

Yeah, but on the bright side Tony's making our old, slow system $150 per year more expensive.

You can't blame Abbott for the NBN stuff up…

Nope. The implementation was undoubtedly rushed. A project like this cannot realistically be delivered within the 4-year timespan that a political party is in charge, which makes it hard for any major project like this to get delivered if the other party does not agree.
But the idea behind NBN is good - Australia needs it. We're so far behind it's not funny.

        • The former Telstra boss says "NBN Co was not fit for purpose"! What a surprise!!
How many more Liberal lackeys are they going to trot out to put the boot into NBN Co?

  • Hey Op
can this router run in bridge mode? e.g extend the signal from my main wifi router?
need one for to extend all the way to my bedroom

  • I don't get why companies release routers with all the bells and whistles (gigabit, USB storage, AC WiFI) but no VOIP. Particularly non-ADSL modems - they don't support normal phone lines, shouldn't they include a replacement phone service?

  • OP, is the Internet port on the router the same as a WAN port on other routers ie. Technicolor?

    • Hi,

Yes the internet port is WAN port

    • Sorry, it's off-topic, but if you have a Technicolor, get rid of it. They are the worst devices imaginable. My sync speed on the Technicolor modem/router provided by Belong is 20% lower than my 7-year-old Netgear modem/router. Thankfully I only paid $1 for it, and it came with good quality network cables and a Telstra filter, which justified my $1.

  • Super noob question
I'm about to get ADSL for the first time (shocking I know) and I'm wondering if this modem would be comparable/better than the modem offerings from iiNet, Internode etc.? Or would I be better off going with one of their modems?

    • +1

i dont think this device has a built in ADSL modem, which means that you will need to get a separate ADSL modem and just use this guy to broadcast the wifi. IMHO you're probably better off getting a 2in1 router+adsl modem.

    • +1

      Hi,

This is only a Router, so it wouldn't support ADSL by itself, it will need to work with a modem.

      Sam

    • +1

But whatever you do, stick with a good brand modem. It matters. Usually it's cheaper to get a modem from MSY / Netplus / etc. than to buy one from your ISP.

  • Is this the V1 or V2 of this router? Cisco logo is V1 Linksys Logo is V2

    • Very fast delivery - recd mine today at 9 AM , but can confirm these are the V1 Cisco branded model, which misses out on one of the usb ports being usb3. Not sure of the other differences at this time

  • I would recommend this router. Been using it and has been workin perfectly ever since I got Telstra Ultimate Cable :) no issues for for over a year now.

  • Damn where were you when I was looking for one :( end up getting netgear d6200 for much more expensive price

  • AC routers have really dropped steeply in price the last 6mths. Must be because its mainstream now. Will wait till these are below $100 before snapping one up.
