I went into Bunnings today to buy a replacement rain gauge for my folks' WS2306 weather station. I walked out with a whole new weather station (…and, as usual, a pile of other crap I didn't really need!)
The La Crosse WS2306 wireless weather station includes PC connectivity for a DIY internet weather station (if that's your thing). It was replaced by the (cosmetically different, functionally-identical) WS2355. Bunnings appears to be running-out the WS2306 model.
The current $99.00 tag is a further 1/3rd off the first discounted price. The kit was only $25 more expensive than the rain bucket sensor unit which comes with it (http://shop.lacrossetechnology.com.au/ws2300-16-la-crosse-ra…)
There was plenty of stock at the Alexandria store at 1.00pm today. No idea if the deal is on offer at other Bunnings stores.
Ancient price history:
Once upon a time the WS2306 was a "bargain" $349 (or $220-ish if you grey imported from Amazon). Its replacement, the WS2355, carries an AU rrp of $379 (but can be bought on eBay for ~$335 delivered eg http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/WS2355-La-Crosse-Professional-Wir…)
none at munno para (SA) :(
