  • Since when was amaysim unlimited 4gb? I thought it was 3gb? Did I miss the memo? (not that i'm complaining)

    • +1

its always been 4GB . I think its the best value unlimited plan at the moment

      • Still considering the switch to jeenee mobile purely from the nfp aspect and 4g connectivity.

beware of MB increments for data usage.

    • +1

I've never had a problem with the MB increments. I use my mobile data at work via my Samsung S3 (thats 12 - 15 hrs a day) and only go through max 2GB per month. Push notifications for email are on too. My phone is never connected to wifi either.

    • Same as EC, never had a problem with the 1MB session rounding, I leave my phone on all day plus my phone switches between WiFi and mobile data whenever I'm in range. I suppose people whose reception keeps dropping out could have a problem, or maybe they zealously turn mobile data on and off all the time, but I suspect a lot of people repeat this urban legend without having actually experienced it.

    • I was speaking to one of their customer service people the other day and they are changing it KB increments which is currently available in WA but being rolled out to other states according to them

Is international call charged on top of the plan?

    • yes but the rates are reasonable to some countries

      http://www.amaysim.com.au/international-call-costs.html

    • edit: beat by 2min… even still if youre making international calls you should be using skype/viber or something similar!

      • I will be calling my folks back home who dont know those techs =(

      • correct, specially if you bought skype cards when they were on special at coles/target combined with AMEX Target $10 of $50 promo

      • +1

At 6c/min to some countries, it's even cheaper than local calls, not that much more than Skype, plus the other side doesn't need Internet.

        • Most Skype rates are less than 2c per min. Even less if you have Skype premium.

        • @oringal: But don't forget the flagfall too. For the occasional call to somebody who's not set up for Internet, a few cents isn't a big deal for me. Some times and some places I'm also without mobile data on my phone.

  • Seems expired already? "Sorry, the promotion is not valid. Allowed Number of Redemptions exceeded"

    • maybe an issue with system update overnight. It should be back up in the morning at most. I tried it 10 min ago and it was working

their promo's run for the entire month

  • +2

Eastern, you post these nearly every month.
How do you get notification about them so early?
I use Amaysim too but I never hear about these deals.
    Haunt their Facebook or something?

I'm on the pay as you go plan. Amaysim has amazing customer service. Coverage wise in Inner Sydney is about the same as Telstra 4g, obviously not as fast. Can't believe calls to Singapore are even cheaper than local calls (6 vs 12 cents per min). Might get some line credit where local mobile calls are only 9 cents and landlines are 2 cents per min.

I think I'm paying around $5-13/month for 800mb depending on my usage, down from $30/month at Telstra.

    • Have you thought about getting the 1 GB data pack for $10? This might save you some money with data being 5c/MB.

  • Are the Amaysim plans the same as Boost/Aldi etc where there's no hidden surprise charges and where your access is capped so you can't spend any more than the plan allows?

    • Just looking at their summary on the website, data it not capped, will get charged 5c/mb when you go over

      • One way to achieve that effect with a plan is to not provide an auto payment method but top up with vouchers. Then when you go over there's no money in the account to pay for it and your data is stopped dead. But that means no international calls or other non-included calls until you top up.

On AYG you can get capped on a data pack by turning off auto-renew.

    • +1

As greenpossum said, but if you do turn off auto-renew, you need to make sure that you top-up your balance (voucher or card) before your monthly cycle clicks over, otherwise you will drop completely off your plan and into PAYG.

BPay is also a payment option with Amaysim. If you use that, you need to allow three business days (four, to be safe) before your monthly cycle clicks, to allow time for processing.

      • Totally right and a valid warning to make.

I have spilled over and spend money off the cap nearly every time. You need to be very vigilant as the data nears its end otherwise its 5c per MB, which may sound like a little but can add up quick smart.

  • If you choose the option you would like your number to be transferred over, do they start transferring before the sim gets to you? I guess it would be silly if that was the case but just making sure

    • +1

The porting only starts when you activate the SIM.

  • Promo code now is working

    • Does this code work for postpaid plans? I tried to use it after i activated my sim but it doesnt accept it!!
