HP Slatebook X2 64GB - $329.95 + $11.95 shipping @ OO.com.au

110

Great tablet that has a detachable keyboard. The keyboard has an extra battery that recharges the tablet when it is docked, and has an extra SD card reader built-in. The tablet itself also has a microSD card slot and a built-in 64GB of storage. And the 10.1" Full HD IPS screen is awesome at this price.

You won't get many stand alone tablets at this price with these specs, especially 64GB versions. The keyboard is sturdier than most keyboards that come with 10" laptops - I have one myself and I don't know why this model doesn't gain as much attention as it should.

  • oh! oh!

    god that's annoying…

    • Probably nowhere near as annoying as the hipster clown I saw today in a Jeep with the number plate "OMG OMG". :)

lol, for a moment I thought you were referring to me, then I remember those annoying ads!

Just FYI - Shopping Express had them $299 + Shipping a few days ago for EPIC hour.

Always wondered about those deals where there is only a limited number of units available - is it considered a real deal?

I've had this laptop/tablet (tabtop? laplet?) for about 6 months and it's great at this price. Because the keyboard has a massive battery I get days of use out of this thing. The only annoying thing is that it uses a proprietary adapter so can't be plugged into a USB slot to recharge like every other tablet. Other than that, it's great that it works with USB sticks and microSD cards.

    • the quoted 14hour battery life is with the keyboard attached - how long is it with just the tablet?
I think they need to use a propietary jack because the usb cannot charge it fast/power (5v/low amps)

I have had mine on pretty low usage in the last few days, but the stats are:- 2d 0h 29m and I have 49% left. This is tablet only.
        Screen - 44%
        Wi-Fi - 27%
        Idle - 26%
        Android - 5%

        • Impressive!

        • hmmm ok - just looked up a review - they say battery life is actually pretty poor? (apparently the screen a bit dogemo too?)

oh and the battery split seems to be around the same as the asus transformer (70/30 split - the keyboard battery is actually the small one)

        • All I can tell you is my own experience. Perhaps the first releases were a bit dodgy and also running on slightly older Android? I just received 4.3 update only last week (regret it now because I have lost root).

I agree with deconst in regards to the USB sticks and microSD cards - have had occasions requiring the use of usb sticks to load things onto the tablet.

        • It's had plenty of updates since the first-version reviews (that particular review is almost a year old !)
