Other deal by olc seems cheaper.

Your calculations are messed up but I can see where you were trying to go with them.

That aside, this is the third time today I've seen someone suggesting one drive deal is better than another just because it has a lower cost/GB or higher GB/dollar, when different capacities are involved. If I'm choosing between these drives for my girlfriend, and there's buckley's chance in hell she's gonna fill up more than 300GB within the next couple of years, wouldn't I be an idiot to choose the higher capacity one based on its lower cost per GB?

      • Never say never. Everytime ive bought a drive for myself or others with the understanding 'im never gunna fill it'. Well you can guess the rest. Bill Gates once said 640k of ram would be enough for anybody, but now 4gb is the norm.

Which I agree with, but that's talking about the very long term. Incidentally I believe the Gates quote is used out of context and as much as it pains me to admit it, he's far too intelligent to ever have thought that 640K would be enough for all time.

        • Things have come a long way from my first computer which had 16k of RAM!

        • Bill Gates once said 640k of ram would be enough for anybody…
It makes a nice story, but it's an urban myth… Gates himself has strenuously denied making the comment.

      • true, but i fill up hard drives very quickly. I remember buying 3tb in the space of 1 month, the first hard drive i considered buying was a 500gb! then i decided 'nah i'll go with the bigger model'

        • That's way too many "linux distros" you've been downloading. ;)
