  Kinda pointless to pay for music if the artist isn't getting any money from it. (Assuming the music is purchasable as new elsewhere, which I know not all of it is.)

    But 99% of the money goes to the label not the artist, this stops the label getting another x$ for a cd sale, same goes for digital I guess , the artist gets almost zero.

    I hope you only ever buy brand new cars or houses otherwise the manufacturer or builder misses out with second hand sales. Or you never buy a burger from McDonald's cos the farmer doesn't get a cut of your money, they only get what maccas give them.

    Not pointless at all.

      Or buy products made from recycled paper, considering all the loggers and pulping plants would miss out on their cut.
