First post after quite some time of ozbargaining :) The community here's awesome!

Reposting: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/153339
The timer on the page has counted down to zero but the page seems to still be sending out serials.
Hope this helps the fellow bargainers who missed out while it lasts.

Given that they always seem to be giving away trials to this in one way or another, does anyone ever actually pay for bitdefender software?

    • Haven't paid in over a year I think :p

  • How obstrusive is BitDefender IS?

If it installs any toolbars and other widgets / plugins into my computer that's an instant no for me.

    • Just installed it on dad's computer, he was on a paid Norton 360 before this.
Seems to be not too bad so far. It installed a chrome wallet extension but you can disable it from bitdefender settings.

      • Did it install it without you prompting it to? It'd be nice if these things were optional right from the beginning of the installation process.

        • Agree. I'd much prefer complete control. But no, it didn't ask me. That said, i'd be significantly more annoyed if I'd paid for it. Disabling is a minor inconvenience at this stage.

    • Installs a widget also but it can be removed.

  • Maybe next time. Although I pay for it, I enjoy Kaspersky's protection.

  • Code is EP4NR21 (OR EP4NR2L, can't tell from the font) - the same as a previous offer so they're probably all identical.

Just noticed the email with the code says "Sent by: Bitdefender, Bucharest, Sector 2, Delea Veche 24 Street, Delea Veche 24 Office Building, Romania, Phone: +40 21 206347" Isn't Romania one of the countries renowned for online scamming?

    • They also specialise in ATM card skimming

    • It's where Bitdefender's company is located.

    • It's good to be cautious, however online scammers exist in every country.
According to the FBI's 2013 Internet Crime Report, the top five countries are: United States, United Kingdom, Nigeria, China, and Canada. Australia ranked 15th, Romania 35th.

Romania has a distinguished history in science and technology.
