Playstation 4 from Dick Smith - $399.20 after 20% off

PlayStation 4 from The Gamesmen $396 after 20% off

XboxOne 500GB TitanFall Console Bundle - $478.40 + $5 shipping after 20% off

Nexus 5 (16GB, Black) $320 iPad Air 16GB Celluar $540.8 Shipped and etc

Since Video Games and Consoles are mentioned, I think PS4 and Xbox One are included. However I am not 100% sure.

Eg) PS4 @ Dick Smiths is $485 at the moment, but after the 20% discount it should be $388
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Sony-Playstation-4-Console-/25156…

Update 1 : As many of you already predicted, Dick Smiths actually raised prices, so now PS4 is $503.95($499+$4.95 for shipping) and Xbox One(XboxOne 500GB TitanFall Console Bundle) is $602.95.

After the 20% discount(it applies to the shipping fee as well), PS4 should be $403.16 and Xbox One(XboxOne 500GB TitanFall Console Bundle) should be $482.36.

Xbox One(XboxOne 500GB TitanFall Console Bundle)
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/XboxOne-500GB-TitanFall-Console-B…

Update 2 : You might want to check out Kogan Ebay store. They are selling phones & tablets(including iphones and Galaxy S5) under Toy section, so the 20% discount should be applied to those phones & tablets. Plus, it seems like Kogan listed Xbox One on their store as well, but it is same price as what DSE is selling at the moment($498, after the discout $398.4 thanks arena sales).

Update 3 : By the way, I would recommend you guys to keep your eyes on Ebay Group deal. If my memory serves me right, last time Apple MacBook Air 11" 128GB was only $500 after the 20% discount. Hopefully, some similar deals are available on 21/07/2014

http://groupbuy.ebay.com.au/

Update 4 : Many mobile phones, talbets and consoles that are sold by Kogan are no longer listed under the "toy" section. Make sure what you are purchasing is under the right category, so the discount can be applied.

Update 5 : Apparently PS4 is "sold out" @ DSE, just a day before, the deal starts.

Update 6 : PS4 is back on DSE ebay store @ $499(thanks kamoi) which should be $400-ish after the 20$ discount. However it says "Limited quantity remaining"

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Sony-Playstation-4-Console-/25156…

Update 7 : Sony Xperia Z, Z1, Z2and compact are still under Toy section(thanks grab_ur_freebies)

http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_odkw=&_osacat=220&_trksid…

Udpate 8 : Some ipad are still under Toy section(thanks andri77), including ipad mini with retina 16GB white which should be $352 (after disc)

http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_odkw=iphone+5s&LH_BIN=1&_…

Update 9 : Some Samsung smartphones(including Galaxy S5) are still listed under the toy section.

http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/Other-/1039/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw…

However, I can not confirm the 20% discount can be applied to those smartphones, tablets and consoles that are sold by Kogan

Coupon code is CTOYTASTIC, good luck everyone

So this will probably be the first time i use this promotion from Ebay. How does the discount work? Can i buy any game from any reseller and get that 20% off, or is it only applicable to "ebay" games etc? Thanks.

    • That doesn't make sense.

  • If I go to ebay.com.au and search for something, but on the side bar, select Item Location as "Worldwide" instead of "on ebay Australia", will it still qualify for the 20% off?

    • During the 15% off sale a month or so ago I bought something from a guy in the US and got my 15% off. Assuming this follows the same pattern, it should work

      • But did you click on Worldwide or leave it as "on ebay Australia"? Because even when I leave it as "ebay Australia" I still saw some items shipped from HK appear on the list.

        • +2

on eBay Australia: Displays all items which have been listed on eBay Australia (including international)
Australia Only: Displays only items located in Australia
          Worldwide: Displays everything

        • +3

          @kamoi:

1 & 2 are right, but "Worldwide" actually means everything available to be posted to Australia. It does not include items that the seller won't ship here.

    PS4 console is now $548! :(

    • +9

      What a Dick move…

      • +3

You mean Dick is being a dick again?

      • +2

How dare Dick sell a product for it's normal price.

    • If you guys bothered to read the comments above, you would have known it would go back to $548 which is normal price.

    • So is $438 not a good price? Has there been better deals?

      • +6

438 was supposed to be a great price. But however, these DICKSMITH ASS*HOLES increases their prices when ebay has 20% off.

        • -1

in that case you'll be delighted to hear that with 20% off dick smiths ps4 selling at $549, you can a ps4 for the the "great price" of $438.

        • +3

          @didsburydan:

Actually, it's at $499 now, so come Sunday, if no price change, then the nett price would be around $400

    • +1

It is now $499 @ DSE. After the discout, it should be around $400

  • -1

I thought only JB jacked up their prices before putting them on promo

  • Didn't buy anything from Bay.com.au. Is it a real deal?

  • +9

And what do you know… Dick Smith just raised their prices on those consoles…

    Big f*** surprise.

Two sales in a row. Has to be a law against this for online sales.

    • +8

I wouldn't say that's a reason for a neg. This discount applies to all items in the Toy category. The deal doesn't revolve around Dick Smith.

      • +7

Agreed. I am looking at items from other suppliers. Who cares about Dick Smith losing sales? Interesting though, as I guess they would have shifted a lot of boxes on Sunday with the same margin they were getting in the sale.
After seeing Kogan target the last 20% off, I wouldn't be surprised to see some new specials come Sunday.

        • +13

The deal itself though is about Ebay having a 20% off sale. It's not their fault if Dick Smith decides to be greedy and raise their prices. There are still hundreds of other fantastic items at a great price from other sellers. The 20% off sale is still a great bargain.

        • +1

          @BlazinPast:

Agree, deal is about eBay. Dick Smith failed again tho.

        • @Phreakuency

          Please read the Voting Guidelines

    • I opened a PayPal dispute after buying an item during the last 20% sale because Dick inflated the price during the sale and I accused them off shady business tactics, Dick Smith never replied but PayPal made the decision in my favor and refunded my money, Suck on that Dick.

      • Did you get to keep the item?

        • -2

          yes still got it.

        • @Junk Collection: What did you buy?

        • Would be great if it was a 60" 4K UHD LCD TV you got to keep & got a refund.

      • +10

Not defending Dickies, but I think it's ridiculous that PayPal decided in your favour. From what you've said you bought, paid for and received goods at an agreed price as provided at the time of sale. Under what terms could PayPal possibly refund money to you? It's not like you were charged more than your committed purchase price??

Just another reason why sellers are walking away from PayPal in droves. Their a law unto themselves and it doesn't fly when there are so many competitors in that space.

Oh and well done on getting a refund and keeping the item :)

        • Paypal's dispute process is a joke. Most people who have used Paypal should be well aware of this.

        • it was only a $30 item and I only asked for a partial refund as to bring it to the actual price that it should've been, I also stated the fact that it is very deceptive to raise the price during a sale to perceive that a discount is being made and would be illegal in Australian consumer law, either way it is a very shady business practice and PayPal/eBay obviously agreed and gave me a full refund.

    • "And what do you know… Dick Smith just raised their prices on those consoles…

      Big f*** surprise.

Two sales in a row. Has to be a law against this for online sales."

There is a law against it. Check this out, and if you have evidence refer it to ACCC.

  • +1

i think some people need to learn the difference between raising prices and discontinuing a discount/sale/promo

annoying, yes… personally i'd love to get a ps4 and double, triple, quadruple stack discounts, but dick smith are well within their rights to stop a discount and sell it at their normal price.

    stop acting so entitled.

    • -1

except the discount is coming from Ebay and not dicksmith
if they didnt change their prices DS wouldve maintained their margin as if there wasnt a sale

So all they are doing is jacking up their price to get an extra bit of profit instead of discounting or maintain their regular price

      Thats just greedy and dodgy

      • +3

$548 is their regular price. What part of that don't you get?

        • I think his point is… Ebay is eating the discount, not its sellers. DSE is set to do a lot of business due to this promotion, and they lose nothing as the 20% off doesn't come out of their end. They're certainly within their rights, but jacking up their prices so they can make a bit extra on top of the increased traffic afforded by Ebay's promotion is unnecessary.

        • +1

i don't really know how to say it any different to make people get this simple logic.

reverting a price back to it's normal, everyday selling price "jacking prices up"

and besides, for the meanwhile this discussion is irrelevant as DS has dropped the price of the ps4 to $499.

        • If you think RRP is gospel, sure. If you've followed DSE's PS4 sales, ~$480 is their 'normal, everyday selling price.' The Ozbargain/LH communities don't buy DSE because of their amazing service, it's because their consoles are discounted more often than they are not.

The problem is not that we can't stack discounts, but rather one half of this deal is not from DSE at all so it should be no skin off their back. By jacking up their prices during these promotional periods, they're making more money off these consoles than at their 'new normal' price.

        • +5

          http://www.dicksmith.com.au/playstation-4/ps4-console-dsau-y…

          ps4

          ds actual website

          $548

please stop… you go from saying "it is their normal everyday selling price" to "they discount this item lots" (to paraphrase)… WHICH ONE IS IT, it can't be both.

        • +3

'their consoles are discounted more often than they are not.'

Their 'everyday' selling price is the more common ticketed value. Their 10 and 12% off periods are just as frequent as full RRP. The <$500 on the console is practically their unofficial price as reflected on their eBay page until this promotion.

You seem real determined to write off every critic as entitled. I don't have a horse in this race and not buying a console but can sympathise with those who saw the eBay promotion and thought they might be able to get a good deal, especially as DSE loses nothing from selling it at their more commonly discounted price.

        • @didsburydan:

reverting a price back to it's normal, everyday selling price ≠ "jacking prices up"

True. But it puts things in a different light if they had it for a lower price than normal, then revert it back to normal price just in time for the promotion, and after the promotion lower the price again back to its pre-promotion price.

It remains to be seen if they will do that, but it's definitely dodgy if they do.

        • @didsburydan:

    • damn it…. are people buying first and paying tomorrow morning?

      • +1

Doesn't work that way. Purchase has to be on day of sale. If people have done so they'll be in for a rude surprise (until they cancel the transaction, effectively ruining the sale for everyone)

  • wanna buy Android phone, need a change from iOS. my iphone4 is about to die. hope I will be able to buy phone tomorrow from Kogan. has anyone purchased phone from Kogan before? good or bad experience?

    • Nexus 5 is a good android phone. I bought a galaxy s4 from kogan but not from their ebay store and my experience wasn't too bad.

    • Was painless for me. Received it a few days after ordering it.

However, I have yet to deal with RMA, so I can't comment on that process.

If your iphone is about to die, Apple can replace the battery for you for $79 + shipping I think which is cheaper than buying a new phone, if you're happy with your old one.

      • +1

Would be better off paying the extra ~$250 for a Nexus 5…

        • Isn't a new one due soon? Nexus 6 or something?
