  • How does this vendor's prices & variety compare to IKEA's…?

  • -2

Bordeaux Candles are hand made in Australia with Australian made products. Very high quality scented candles.

IKEA import low grade candles made with Paraffin.

    • That's a load of crap. IKEA has not used paraffin in their candles for about 7 years now.

Sorry, IKEA uses palm oil and palm stearin, which is far worse for the environment!

Which I'm sure you are all ready aware of as you seem to be up to date with IKEA's candle manufacturing techniques.

      PALM OIL IN IKEA PRODUCTS

Although IKEA use only 0.1% of the total world production of palm oil, we still want to influence positively on where and how the palm oil is grown, harvested and processed, before it ends up in our candles (80% of the palm oil we use go into candles, the rest is mainly used in food products).

IKEA has decided to purchase RSPO Certificates for the full volume used in our products to help stimulate sustainable palm oil production. The first purchases will be made at the end of 2010.

A few years ago IKEA replaced paraffin in candles with palm stearin in an effort to achieve a smaller carbon dioxide footprint. With the knowledge we have today, we believe that actively contributing to more sustainable palm oil production is the most effective way forward towards more sustainable products. However, the quest for more sustainable raw materials is constant, and IKEA continues to investigate alternatives to palm oil.

Already in 2006 IKEA decided to get more involved in the Round Table on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) and from 2010 take an active role also in the Trade and Traceability workgroup. Our goal is to contribute to achieving lasting change for how the whole industry works. Read more at www.rspo.org.

If you want to know more about the IKEA approach to sustainable production, please read our Sustainability Report 2009 (the 2010 version will be published in the beginning of 2011).

Absolutely disgraceful and abusive rep + offering a tiny candle after buying overpriced crud and claiming it's a bargain. Nothing to see here folks.

Very bad representation of a business by OP. Won't be getting anything from me.

Mikinoz, you last comment doesn't even makes sense and does not address my previous comment at all.

I'm getting the impression that no matter what I say, I'm going to get abused.

I'm amazed with all of the candle experts in this thread. Maybe I can offer you a job? We have about 65 employees.

Anyway, I can't wait to see the abuse hurled at me in the next few comments. Lol. I heard this website was bad, but I didn't realise it was this bad! lol

This isn't just a normal cheapie candle. They are the type you see in gift shops and are always, to me, a high price. The free candle looks a nice gift style in glass with a lid.
The deal isn't as bad as people are making out, I have seen a lot more expensive ones in stores at Byron Bay for example.
