Vinomofo BLACK MARKET 94 pt Pinot Noir Six Foot Six 2012 Wine $90/12 + $9. $25 credit new user

31

It's back. Six Foot Six by Austin Wines Pinot Noir 2012, now rated 94 points by James Halliday! $90/12 pack or $7.50/bottle plus $9 shipping cap, I've bought and it is very smooth and drinkable :) May be worth decanting as I found it more enjoyable on the second night.

From the producers website 'Enticing, perfumed aromas of fresh plums, dark and maraschino cherries in league with a tamarind-led savoury complexity and a violet petal or two. All this saturates the senses in true pinot noir fashion; vivacious and alluring.' Anyone have details of the Halliday review?

Currently $17.99/bottle at Cracka Wines http://www.crackawines.com.au/Six_Foot_Six/Six_Foot_Six_Pino…

  • Sure about that? I could have sworn it was this one:

    • Yes, sure. See https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/149596. Exactly the same description and details from Vinomofo this time around. I bought the wine last time. dhmadm predicted this wine had scored 94 in the latest Halliday 2015 Companion,

      • Ah, OK. Cheers. A bit of a stretch to call Six Foot Six a $25 wine, though.

        • That's what it sells for on the producers website, I think they use producers RRP as the benchmark price for the wine.

  • In my opionion it's rubbish, do not buy would be my recommendation. I bought two cases.

I'm enjoying it. It's a light, fragrant, spicy wine that was incredibly smooth on the second night. Not to your taste obviously, but if the likes of James Halliday savour something in it that you don't, I guess we all have different tastes. You do know you can return the cases to Vinomofo and get a refund?

  • I bought and very happy with this pinot , worth the money for sure!

  • I bought it the last time around, and was very happy with it

As has been said before, if you don't like the posts, don't read them. Lots of people do find these posts helpful because they are alerted to deals with very good prices on wine, and the wines are identified to make the decision to buy or not more straightforward. It's a case of adding value and information. As for me getting referral credits, yes I do get the odd credit which I feel I have earned by the way, but I'm also a fan of this business and their wines, one of a number on OzBargain. Most of the people here who buy on my info have signed up to Vinomofo long ago, I just make their lives easier.

Also, I only post when it's a 'mystery' wine, and I can identify it.

      • +1

        You are missing the point.

You may have the ability to identify these 'mystery wines' but I'm pretty sure there are many others who's able to do the same thing on OZB.

Posting it as a deal almost everyday for the past week or so has taken away the opportunity for someone else to post the same deal, especially when these deals have referral credits involved.

Not to mention that none of the 'deals' you translated from their email spam have becoming much of a welcoming deal judging the link I provided above.

So take a break and give someone else a chance to post some real deal on Vinomofo. If you are really identifying these wines for the benefit of others, use a regular post on the forum.

Yes, I don't understand your point. If others want to post on these deals, they can and do. There are plenty of other mystery wines I don't post on. I don't post immediately so I do allow others an opportunity to have their say first. There has just been a series of wines I happened to know, and thought others would be interested in. Judging by the comments and clicks, they are. You main point seems to be that you resent the credits. Fair enough, that's your opinion.

i welcome these deals, always good to see them

i bought two cases last time and am enjoying the 6 foot 6

would have preferred the stag though, but still a good cool climate pinot

While I am interested in this post and this wine, I'd be in favour of moving all of their black market stuff to a permanent "What's today's VinoMoFO Black Market Deal" page in the forum. The history on the thread would help us find out what the wines are quicker and there would be a lot less complaints about spamming the deals page.

I doubt there is much referral credit left to be earned from OzBargain users, if they didn't take any of the last 100 offers I doubt they would take this one.

    What do you think?

    • "I doubt there is much referral credit left to be earned from OzBargain users, if they didn't take any of the last 100 offers I doubt they would take this one."

You're assuming we all stick to one account. ;)

  • Agree absolutely. These deals are becoming a pain to wade through and I'd argue that most are of limited interest to members, going from historical votes and clicks (this deal, for example, has just 39 clicks in 6.5 hours).

Can't say much about their other deals, but this one along with the Schilds blackmarket has been a ripper of a deal.
Picked up 1 box last time around, another 3 this time.

  • In any case, SOLD OUT.

  • My wine companion now offering for $15.95!!!

'A lovely Pinot offering outstanding value' 94 Points.

That's how James described this Sixfootsix Pinot in the August/September edition of the Wine Companion magazine - and it's not hard to see why. Produced by Austin's of Geelong, this is essentially their entry-level Pinot Noir, though propelled upward in quality thanks to the perfect 2012 vintage conditions and some crafty winemaking.

For just $15.95/bottle (RRP $25) this Geelong Pinot Noir is not only lovely but awfully well priced too. Check it out here.
