Err the Melbourne International Comedy Festival finished on the 20th of April.

Yep, well and truly finished… http://www.ticketmaster.com.au/Melbourne-International-Comed…

Also, if you check The Comic's Lounge website, tickets for Akmal are available 9/7-12/7 (different dates) and start at $30 http://thecomicslounge.com.au/index.php?page=shop.product_de…

Looks a little scammy, could definitely use some clarification.

      • The dates for free tickets are weeknights. Presumably they don't want to give up the hotter Friday, Saturday and Sunday seats if people are more likely to be paying for them?

how can it be a scam when all they ask for is your name.

I think it's clear this deal was intended only for a small group of people and not the general public.

And YEAH! ticket is $120 (4 seats) for the show only on Wednesday 9th from link above. The deal is legit. Thanks OP

    • No worries, I'm glad someone was able to use it!

  • I guess it is only "Comedy Festival" instead of "Melbourne Comedy Festival", which ended on 20th April

  • OP any chance you can pm what company you work for so we know which intranet sent this, just in case we get questioned on the night??

  • Looks like Akmal is only playing Wed 9th to Sat 12th July not July 7th/8th….

If someone goes tonight can they confirm?

  • Also states .. "THIS IS A NO FREE LIST SHOW"

Just got back a little while ago… Deal is legit. Walked in, gave them the name I booked under and the printout from the email and got a table.
Best fun I've had in a while, and I'd probably rather pay to go to this than a movie these days.

  • Ok I may be late to post about this but the deal is genuine, although it may be labeled incorrectly.

I went on the Tuesday which turned out to be open mic night with Akmal as the MC. He did a few bits, then introduced a few comedians who did their bits, then he did some more jokes then introduced some more comedians etc.

I think Wednesday onwards is Akmal only shows based on the fact that they have him advertised for those days on their webiste but I'm not sure. At the time I requested the tickets the only days left were Monday and Tuesday.

I just showed them the printout directly on my phone and they didn't even bother asking for my name.

The other comedians were as a majority still pretty good even though the intention of the night was to try out new material for some and just trying to get into stand up comedy for others but I had a fun evening for the price of free so I'm happy.

Also they gave out free tickets valid any Monday to everyone and also had some yearly ticket offer for $40 too.

    Thanks for the post.
