It's $39. What did you expect?

      • Not for someone to say "Wow, that is tempting"

Other than this i've heard the Pendopad 7" quad core 1gb ram is $79 at Coles.

        • Cheers mate ;)

        • +3

Yes it is double the price though for double the specs.

      • Suggestion targeted to your young niece:

You could do a lot better.

        Don't get your niece a Pendopad… lol

        • Why not?

Far out, so cheap! Great sacrificial basic devices for those times when you don't want to destroy or lose an expensive one ie. give to the Kids, use in the Kitchen to access online recipies or use as a reference in the Workshop, mount in the car to display OBDII data, mount on the MTB bars when trekking around, take on an OS trip loaded up with maps, buy a few hundred of them and decorate your walls for less than fancy wallpaper!

EDIT: Bugger, the maximum allowable seems to be '11' so no wall decorating for me :(

No limits on eBay. Please post pictures when you're done :D

      • Well you'd think that but it's only allowing me to buy 84 of them via the eBay link :(

        • 84 huh damn professionals :)

    • I advise checking that the wi-fi speed is reasonable when you are 10 meters away from the wifi source. In my experience with super-cheap devices, the wifi is terrible and you need to be no more than 3 to 4 meters from the source. This would rule out watching youtube videos or recipes from the internet if you are farer. I suggest you go to DS and test this by yourself before buying if browsing the Internet is of interest for you.

i saw this on the AD yesterday but they still have stocks now which means they are not popular. Screen resolution is so bad and you will regert of buying it.

And that RAM will make it stutter.
There used to be a saying "buy it cheap, buy it twice".
If you want a usable Tab, I would look elsewhere. 512MB of RAM is no use these days and that screen resolution will just annoy you.

  • On paper this pad is very good for this price, you can do many things with it than you can image. But my concern is how long this toy can last, six months, or more?

  • I bought the 7" 16gb tablet a couple weeks ago for $49. Have given it a bit of a run through and it's reasonably smooth, seem to do the usual internet/random games just fine for anyone's kids or parents. Though it would crash when trying to look at the status in settings. Not sure if the specs are the same but they look about right except for the storage.

  • Pulled the trigger and bought four of them now as I needed to replace a set for a client. Going to wipe it and throw cyanogenmod to stabilise it. Thanks OP!

  • Digital photoframe - very noice.

  • Does anyone know if this would be able to run XBMC. Thinking of getting one for the kids.

  • Bought one. Just want it to display a Camera display with 1 app.. fingers crossed it can do that :)

Can I take Skype video calls using this?

  • Advertised for Internet Browsing and emails when in fact it probably couldn't even load youtube properly. Even if it loads webpages, it will be an extremely frustrating experience. I don't recommend. (Speaking from previous experience)
