Use "WELCOME" for extra $10off, so you get same price as kmart have.

    • +1

Looks like in store price only?

    • Hi Viki,

Is the welcome code still active for games? Do you need to sign up to anything?
If it is I will add it to the deal :)
      Thank you

  • Good deal for those that can't get into a store, starts tomorrow though, you might want to update that.

  • Thanks for the description.

  • I really hope I don't miss out on this one. I'll be going into the store the minute it opens so hopefully that way I'll be able to get one with no trouble at all.

  • Just a heads up that there could be very limited stock. went to Ringwood target Lau night and they only had less then 5 on hand

  • -2

Obligatory FrankMcFuzz comment on a Wii-U bundle.

  • +2

Does anyone know if this is online as well as in store ? (as the big-W deal last week was in store only)

  • Is this the same console bundle (and box) as the $269 Sylanders + MK8 pack? Just minus MK8 of course, which was not part of the box but just a separate game case.

Target told me that the bundle was being discontinued and would not be restocked again. If it's the same (green box) then they lied to me.

    • yes, it should be the same

    • Have you confirmed that your store will be restocking?

As it is, I'm not sure I'd count on 2/3 of the staff at Target to have any real idea what is happening with inventory.

    • +4

      they lied to me.

As long as it wasn't through song. I hate it when people do that.

  • +2

A whole heap of these at Kmart Wynnum in Brisbane for $179. Like a WHOLE heap.

    • -8

The difference is that you don't get Nintendoland in the Kmart one as far as I know, which is valued at more than $10.

      • +1

the kmart one also includes nintendo land

    • Thanks mate I got one thanks to you. There were 2 left at the time in the glass cabinet, I don't know if there is any other stock at the back.

  • +2

so what is the sensor bar used for? Its not a requirement?

    • A Wii Remote if you want to use that. Not necessary if you only plan to use the included controller.

      • How does the Wii U handle local multiplayer since only one tablet is supported? Do the rest use wiimotes?

        • -2

          You can have two tablets.

        • Classic controllers can also be used. The wii-u handles local multiplayer very well, I have played around 40 hours of splitscreen Mariokart online. As always, Nintendo puts couch gaming first.

(Actually the splitscreen business on Mariokart is weird; they don't let you change it to horizontal splitscreen, or toggle the gamepad user to use the whole gamepad screen. But that's only in Mariokart)

And, as far as I can tell, the Wii-U has an internal sensor for the Wii Motion Plus. I was using the Wii+ controller that came with the console successfully before I even set up the sensor. It's spooky. Like a ghost :O

        • +2

          You can have two tablets.

See your doctor if pain persists.

        • they have said that but you can officially buy a second tablet controller right? and I don't know any games that have said they can use both.

        • You can have two tablets.

That's not currently supported. The second one won't sync.

They have to patch it in later, but right now no games support it anyway.

        • Are you sure? It didn't say anything online about it.

Perhaps you can use the second tablet but the screen part doesn't work?

        • Nintendo has hinted that they will add support later.

But then they recently hinted that they will NEVER add support. lol.

        • perhaps because buying another tablet controller will cost as much as these $200 bundles - or close to.

        • Such a shame, because there was potential there. Imagine multiplayer games on the couch where you all have some secret info that the other players can't see.

Perhaps the top screen is the map, or the only shared info, while everyone else plays on the tablet screen.

I don't think it should cost $200 for another game pad. $100 would be fair. It's got a screen but it's not HD, it has no processor. All the processing (the expensive stuff) is done on the Wii U. All the tablet does is stream it. That should save a lot of the costs. The touch screen is also single touch only. You can't compare its price to tablet prices one for one because tablets have CPU/GPU/RAM/Storage.

        • yeah .. but the thing is they still want the RRP of their other controllers to be about $60 .. and these have a lot more componentry, screen some sort of controller board/os, nfc reader, bigger battery (though shorter life) etc. They would have to consider how they price this compared to both the consol price and the other controllers.

        • Its stated online that many thing they won't do it is because the Wii U doesn't have enough processing power.

Only way they can do it is decrease the FPS which will then free up some processing power to handle another controller's screen.

The Controller itself doesn't do any processing, its just displaying the info that the system sends it.

To be honest, cheaper than 269+mario kart bundle last time.

    189 skylander & nintendoland.

    269 skylander & nintendoland & mario kart 8.

that's $80 for mario kart 8? you can get it for $58 (at least somewhere less than $80) at BigW!

    • All the recent sylanders bundles are cheaper ($178,$189 and $198)

    • Which places have it for $58 at the moment? Big W has it for $58 but that's online only, and Layby only. It's not in stock. Lay by has a $2 admin fee, and $5 shipping.

Target has it for $69 but had plenty of copies. I thought about buying it in advance to secure a copy, but I don't even know for sure I can secure a Wii U tomorrow, so I held off.

Those people who already have MK8, is the download code printed on a piece of cardboard inside the case?

      • Are you sure it's online only? I bought it for 58 in store at Big W (actually 52 after the 10% discount) Maybe that sale ended. Anyway, EB still price matches, my local store is leniant enough to match when Big W has no copies.

The Mariokart 8 Free Game Promotion is actually on the NintendoClub card that comes with it. And not the Mariokart 8 introduction and instruction sheet. This took me 28 minutes to figure out.

        • Is that card inside the box or separate?

        • The card is in the box, normally hidden at the back of all the other stuff you get with a Nintendo game.

        • Is it a small Club Nintendo card with 2 folds on it? Big W left the card inside the game case and anyone could have easily stolen it..

        • Yes

      • i got it price matched at EB for $58

  • Does this include the free game download?

    • +4

The free game download is with Mariokart.

      This doesn't include Mariokart.

      No.

  • "3x Figures including the exclusive Gold Wash Buckler"

Exclusive? Maybe exclusive to the OZB community ;)

  • For those of you sitting on the fence - now would be a great time to buy, moreso because the free game promotion with Mario Kart 8 is ending end of July.

  • Just FYI at the moment you cannot use two of the "tablets". The system only supports one (and ofcourse no games support it), there was an article about it recently, Nintendo saying it is not a current focus to get it working. Still in the ozbargain spirit, it should not be about can I use it, but rather daaaaaaannnng I got it for a great price.

  • One of the cheaper prices (w/o using giftcards) if you are going to buy one, do it now.

  • If anyone knows of any stock in any Vic stores lemme know thx

  • +1

Went to JB Hi Fi in Brisbane, got the last one. They had it for $189. So straight after, I go to EB and flog off the Skylanders shit straight from the box. They gave me $18 credit, which I used towards a $58 Big W price matched Mario Kart with download. So $229 for the Wii U basic, Nintendoland, Super Mario Wii U and Mario Kart 8 STRONK

  • Damn that was quick! Updating now.

  • lol it looks like only 2 people got it, wow no stock.

  • Doh! 17mins too late…

    • +1

Don't fret - if you hadn't purchased by 12:03am you were already too late!

  • i just bought the wii u bundle at my local 24/7 open kmart :) and also priced matched mario kart for $58, btw the card inside~ what does itlook like ? is it the points card?

    • Scan it up with the pin no clearly showing and I'll tell ya what it does 2mins later :P

    • where is the 24h kmart is that?

    • It's the red nintendo club card inside, you get it with all the games

  • hey is mario kart 8 supposed to come with a booklet? or just important info sheet and a mini quick guide poster?

    • +1

Just the info sheet and Mini quick guide.

The points card is Red and says "club nintendo" on it.

Congrats on the Wii U purchase :)

  • I managed to get it with MK8 for $235 all up. Was the first person in the store and looks like they MAY have only had one, could be more out back though. (Bathurst, NSW) Such a good deal, thanks OP :D

    • Just picked one up at Midday and YES there are more out the back :)

  • I went in yesterday and spoke to a guy at the entertainment counter he said they had 3. When I went in this morning he said he put them up online early this morning but he kept one aisde because he knew I'd be back first thing for it. So lucky! I got MK8 too. so $235. Really happy. Thanks OP.

  • Chermside in Brisbane

    Kmart has stock at $179
    Target has stock at $189

    Aspley kmart sold.out

  • Got mine today Melbourne City, got there at 8:10 and there were already 8 sold

  • Anyone used both black and white controller pads and care to comment on use - I tend to prefer black bezels around screens - reflects less light etc.

Apparently the white version is the preferred seller in Japan and they're phasing the black Wii U out there!

I missed out overnight and in meetings most of the day so the unit I may have gotten today I bequeath to someone else from the OZB community!

    Enjoy :)

    • Reflectiveness depends how polished and glossy the surface is, not the colour. I think it's less noticible reflecting off the white.

  • Plenty of stock at Target Northland VIC,
    Just Bought 1.

    Thank OP.

  • Target Melbourne CBD are out. Big W didn't pick up the phone.

  • w00t just got one on hold and going to pick up soon :D

  • Just got one at Caroline Springs Target and they still have 5 left. Also bought a Wii U Protect + Play Case from the bargain bin for $2 and a Skylanders Swapforce triple pack for half price at $14.50. This is around 12:40 pm.

While I was there to choose the triple pack figurings there were multiple phone calls asking then to hold the Wii U bundle, but the staff refuse to do so saying it is too low of quantity to hold the item. So be quick if you want one and if near Deer Park/Sunshine/Caroline Springs area.

    • no stock at 4:03pm

  • For everyone who picked up Mario kart as well remember to join the tournament

  • +1

As a heads up guys, I just got Melbourne CBD JB Hifi to price match at $179 super easy, good alternative as target is sold out

    • Thanks for letting me/us know.

Went to kmart first thing in the morning. Found out they sold them all yesterday before the sale started for the sale price. Went home bummed and checked JB's website and didn't see the product so assumed they didn't have it.

Then saw your comment, called up JB, went and bought it and got Mario kart priced matched while I was there too. Would have missed it otherwise.

  • got to southland target at 8am was only one there. Picked up the one and only console

    • Makes the deal even more sweeter hey!

    • Couldn't have been the only one give mine was secured there four or five hours later, but well done for getting one.

    • i just went there to get one a couple of hours ago, and indeed none left :(
disappointing that they all stock barely any to begin with…

      • +1

Sorry to hear that. They had stock for at least half of yesterday, but must have sold out by end of day. I'm sure they moved a lot of stock in that time.

Note too that these stores would generally have a limited quantity of any console in stock per store based on the average movement of units. It’s just that at these prices the units move more quickly as the demand peaks. I didn’t even have a Wii U purchase on the cards until this deal popped up – converts latent Nintendo fans into owners of their little console!

  • No more stock left in Glebe or Bondi Junction, NSW.

Grabbed the last one from Bondi just 2 hours back.

  • How do I join club nintendo? I got a little square red card which has a QR code and a code underneath it, but that is not the PIN# required to register. Where is the PIN#?

    • Check the last page of that little red card.

      • It's just one square sheet. There is no fold. It has front and back only.

        • It was supposed to be 3 folded pages. Does it look like it has been torn apart on the edge? They might have nicked the page with the code. The whole lot of cards were missing from the games at the first Target I visited today. Thieves.

        • This is what it should look like.

          http://tinypic.com/r/dylro0/8

        • I have one of those inside the Nintendo Land case. But are you supposed to get one for the Wii U console itself?

What if you bought a console that didn't have Nintendo Land? Would you still be able to register and join the club?

        • the console itself doesn't come with a club nintendo card, only the games

        • The console itself does come with a club nintendo card. It comes along with the Nintend Land Game.

If I remember correctly. When you attempt to register the Nintendo Land Game, it mentions it is a Console Bundle.
