We get to dress up on toy sale day. Anyone got suggestions?

  • +13

Wow…Wii U Skylanders Bundle for $198. Appears to come with Nintendo Land if the image is correct.

    • +4

      yup wow. Colour me tempted.

      • +3

Online sale starts 7pm June 18. Instore sale starts June 26.

    • +2

Thanks Kelvin, added to title. Was looking for the best deal in the catalogue, and this is probably it.

    • +12

After E3, you damn sure better be tempted.

Toad's first game, Mario Maker, Smash, Starfox. So many awesome games. So many fun ideas.

      • +5

        Yoshi's Wooly World!

        • Something something new zelda

    • What's the difference between the premium Wii U and the basic? From all I can see, it's storage and a few accessories.

      • You also get a discount in the eStore.

        • +2

Is it worth it? How much is the discount?

        • +1

10% back .. but ( something I didn't realise earlier) you earn points for your purchases then once you get enough points you get a voucher … ie you only get store value back for every set of ~$70 spent.

Bonus rewards ends this year also I hear. with most games being cheaper in-store it's hard to justify digital 1st party titles.

this, a black controller from beat-the-bomb (deal today) and the Mario Kart 8 and bonus game off makes a Wii U look pretty dam good.

        • Until the end of this year, you get approximately 10% of your eShop purchases back in eShop credit. I bought Kart digitally and got $7 back as a voucher. I'm pretty sure I can give the voucher to someone else to load up their eShop balance.

    • +1

Far out, I was tempted after E3 (instead of a PS4 or new PC) but I think this will sway me. Haven't had a console since the gamecube!

  • +7

PS4 Console + Watch Dogs + Assassins Creed 4 for $548 isn't bad at all.

  • That bundles at a crazy price, sure beats Targets from a week or so ago, only downside it doesn't come with Mario Kart 8 (plus free downloadable game via redemption).

Really what they should be bundling it with is an External 1Tb or 2Tb Hard Drive, as you're really only left with 3GBish.

"The Wii U Basic Pack has approximately 3GB available for data storage and downloads. The Wii U Premium Pack has approximately 25GB available for data storage and downloads."

    • +1

only downside it doesn't come with Mario Kart 8

You can buy mario kart separately for $58 so it still comes out cheaper

      • -2

No, it comes out even or worse. Target had Nintendoland in their bundle as well.

        • +2

this comes out to be $256 vs $269 at target

        • +5

No its better.. Targets deal was $269

          This one is $198 + $58

and it looks like you get an extra triple pack of figures worth $30 thrown in!!

        • +1

sorry, the skylanders has the nintendoland as well here. cheaper here, you're right.

        • Better price but the target deal was for MK8 on day of launch. Worth the extra imho.

        • The reality:

There will always be a better somewhere else
(down the track, from another retailer, etc).

I was lucky enough to get a Wii U Basic Bundle with Mario Kart 8 from Target a few weeks ago.

The extra Skylanders figures isn't exactly enough to convince me, even with the cheaper price. Not that I've even played it.

A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.

The $13 difference, I'd all it a convenience/enjoying Mario Kart tax.

Not willing to face the stampede when the Toy Sale starts (I've been to a few of them over the years, I'd rather be at home enjoying MK8).

I would ONLY buy a second bundle so I could have a spare gamepad controller. Will wait till Christmas. ;)

        • worth $30 to who? certainly not anyone here.

  • +3

$44 for Tomodachi Life - damnit, just bought that for $48 there the other day.

Great price for the Wii U Skylanders Basic bundle. Again, I bought that two weeks ago with MK8 for $279.

    • Some of those prices are even for games that have an RRP of $70 (MK7, Luigi's Mansion etc.)

  • Great price for those Barbie Dolls!

  • +7

A word of advice - Target, Big W etc are not gaming specialist so do not have large quantities of games/bundles compared to EB etc, even though they're cheaper.

So get in first thing in the morning.

    • +1

If you have to, just price match at EB/JB.

      • +1

I thought the price match policy was if there is stock in the stores? If you're lucky the store person won't call up BigW etc.

        • True, however EB doesn't match bundles. If it's not bundled with anything else they will, but if it includes out-of-the-box items they won't.

        • +9

Pfft, don't give EB your money, support Big W so they give us more deals like this in the future and not ripoff prices from EB.

        • +1

some games @EB on sale prices are not bad but you just don't buy their RRP.

        • My local one has matched bundles in the past so its certainly worth asking.
Tried recently at the melbourne central a few months ago and he went out the back and pretended to call qv bigw, came back 5 min later lying saying they had no stock. I walked accross swanston st and bought the bundle of which they had 10. Eb can be hit or miss but worth asking especially if you want sime carrots on your loyalty card.

        • +1

Where eb excel is their preorder reliability. They are great at getting stick in on day 1 if you wanna play asap. You can always return for refund in 7 days or when your net order arrives.

    • +6

      this is very true.

i recommend just getting them online and paying for shipping (generally $5 for metro), it also starts online earlier than in store.

      • If it's more than a certain amount, can you pick up in store and avoid delivery costs?

        • +2

I think Big W orders over $40 has a click and collect option. So you probably can with this deal. Not 100% definite.

    • +1

This is true. When the Mario kart 8 and wii u bundle was released, we only had 4 in stock

  • +2

Definitely a better deal than Target or EB since you can get Mario Kart separately for $58 plus you get an extra 3 pack of figures!

  • +1

Gosh, this is one massive catalogue (>100 pages).

  • What page is the Wii U Skylanders bundle? I can only see the Premium one on the second last page but I can't see the other one.

    • -2

Please read the post. The link is there.

      • +4

On phone it defaults to the first page

      • +1

Ah, I didn't notice "Here's the deal" was a hyperlink - assumed that deal was in the catalogue.

    • +1

      It's on the 3rd page

  • What's the iPad Mini $298 with $98 Bonus Offer?

    iPad Mini (1st Generation)

    • You can use your browser zoom if you like, it's not ideal but it does the job.
CTRL and + to zoom in, CTRL and - to zoom out(you can use CTRL and the scroll wheel for the same purpose).

      • +2

Yeah, it's a poor man's substitute though. Admittedly this is one of the better online catalogues I've seen - you can actually click on stuff, for example. But a shiny turd is still a turd. :/

  • +6

Can't believe no one has mentioned Lego. Around 25% off for Lego City models.

    https://www.bigw.com.au/offer/catalogue?utm_source=dgm&utm_m… city&page=3

    • LEGO Movie Metal Beard's Sea Cow - 70810 for $309 has to be the bargain for me. Only problem is that currently the only online order option is layby which means waiting until November!

Guess it will be off to the store for me on Thursday.

      • I've been able to successfully purchase LEGO Movie Metal Beard's Sea Cow - 70810 in store for $309 today. A couple of points:

        • The model wasn't on display - apparently they keep the expensive sets locked up in a room
        • Price in the printed catalogue was $328, but Manager was happy to do $309 when shown the online price.
        • You need an everyday rewards card to access it early (although a nice smile might also work)

Now the kids have something to work towards for the September holidays (otherwise I get to build it).

      • You're finally get positive votes for your relevant username and empty posts.

  • +1

The pillow pets " Dream Lites" are already $12.50 at my store.

  • Other Skylanders sale items of note:
Buy 1 Get 1 Free On Skylanders Swap Force Range
*Second Figure must be of equal or lesser value. Offer only applies to Swap Force, Single & Lightcore Figures.
Skylanders Swap Force Magic Triple Pack $14 - These possibly can still be found at JB HiFi for $10 pricing from their last sale.
North Sydney and Artarmon had a pack each this week.
Skylanders Giants Clearance No pricing available. Probably in-store only. Get in early.

    Current pricing specials on-line only:
Zoo Lou, Slobber Tooth, $9 each, save $5 (I wonder if they will stay at this price during the sale)
    Warnado $9, save $8
Giants Dragonfire Cannon Battle Pack $15 save $4
Swap Force Arkeyan Crossbow Battle Pack $19 save $8
Swap Force Sheep Wreck Island Adventure Pack $19 save $8
Swap Force Tower of Time Adventure Pack $19 save $8 - in the sale the price of this will go up to $24!

    • Skylanders Giants Clearance No pricing available.

Actually, the email I just received says these are currently $5 each. In store only.

  • Thanks TA :)

  • Anyone ever seen any of these elusive $10 games? Apparently there's thousands

  • Alas, no Frozen barbie dolls.

  • Thanks TA, sadly missed out on the other Wii-U deals earlier. Shall be refreshing eagerly on 18th. Is Skylanders pack tradeable to EB,JB etc?

    • i think the wii u is in store only. It's listed as on opening deal

      • copy and pasted from the product page:

Available online from 7PM June 18.
        In stores from June 26.

        • +1

they probably did that for all items and forgot to remove it.

The catalogue says "Opening day deals, Thursday June 26, in store only"

        • in that case it definitely deserves a looking into!

on a side note, 2ds with pokemon x/y for $148 is pretty good.

  • +4

Can anybody recommend a good domination toy?

    • +9

Start with handcuffs, safeword is free

      • Not Massive enough

    • +1

Lol people negging you. It took me a while to get the joke. Poster was referring to domination because it was in the thread title

  • +3

Nintendo. Why must you tempt me

I know it would only get limited use as you can hold everything worth having on Wii u in one hand but I'm a sucker for a deal

    • +1

is this meant to be a reply to my question? It just seems to fit.

      • +2

If it's the answer you want then yes :)

    • By years end there will be plenty of new good games to play

      • Yeah. Nintendo did blow their first party load on us this week but with the clear lack of anything 1/2 decent from 3rd party's what comes once we have this years releases?

I'm trying to talk myself out :p

        • Actually, most of their E3 stuff seems to be coming next year, so 2015's taken care of already.

        • Your not helping lol

  • +1

    Thanks TA :-)

  • So a wii U console for 198??

  • Noooo! Bought the EB deal express shipped for $285. :-(
    Ack, wasted $29…

This bundle with the 3 extra SL figures has more resale value. Knew I should've waited!

  • Nerf Guns Half Price

Only 2 are half price, Hail-fire blaster and Rampage.
    Strongarm isn't even discounted..

    Location: Page 74/75

  • -1

That Wii Skylanders deal is not listed in the brochure.

    • +2

Page 3, bottom right. Link has been provided for you in the original post.

      • +2

Ok, did not notice it as it was not with the gaming section.

  • The sales on the bikes are a load of rubbish. That 650B Diamondback bike was $220 a little while ago, they jacked up the price to $270, and now claiming it's a sale. You're really only saving $20.

  • Don't normally go 1/18 but I might make an exception for that Batmobile.

  • Does the WiiU have a trophy / achievement system for its games? I just found I couldn't get into Wii games because they didn't have them - silly I know

    • +2

      that is silly.

the Ubisoft games can earn you some sort of ubisoft point system when you get achievements when playing them .. need a free Ubisoft app installed for it to work though.

Never pay attention to achievements myself.

  • -4

    Adult toys?

  • +1

Do you think jb would match the wii u bundle? Got some gift cards to offload.

    • Ya was thinking the same too. Some jb gift cards to get rid of.

    • +2

They wouldn't match the recent Target Wii U Skylanders + MK 8 deal for me.

Probably won't for this one too, unless maybe you have larger breasts and a prettier face than me.
