    no deal.

  • noob question - so where do you get the fuel??

    • Thats a fair question to ask, as many people do not actually realise what fuels to use. You can use any bio fuel such as Methylated Spirits. You poor the Metho into the burner and light it.

        pour*

Also metho smells terrible if you are using these burners indoors.
Bunnings sells a Diggers Bio-Ethanol fuel for these burners which does not give off any smell. It is $7 per litre, my guess is you get roughly 10 hours of burning from 1lt.

        • Thanks for the correction. Absolutely correct.

        • A couple of points, Metho varies in smell by brand Diggers at big W is only $3.24 or similar a litre and only has a minor smell at start and burn out.
You will only get 10 hours a litre if the holes are about 10mm :), a single 85mm burner would get maybe 3 hours or a tad more from a litre, we usually only run ours on really cold mornings for around an hour as it supplements our electric heating.

For those in WA, u can get Bio-ethanol from this place http://www.hearthhouse.com.au/ in 20L drums if you are going to be using it regularly. From memory, think they were around $60 for 20L

      • Ha, E10 is $1.40/lt in Melb

  • Do you also sell cheap metho?
From what I can remember metho retails for about $5 per litre these days…
    (Damn beaten again!)

    • Sorry, we don't sell meth or Bio- Ethanol Fuel.

itches face damn, are you sure if I bought one you couldn't throw in just a little meth? Maybe a little of the blue stuff from breaking bad…

  • never used these before, where do you place it? Do you need to place it on a stand to prevent damage to the floor/carpet/boards? or are these meant for the table?

    • where do you place it?

Anywhere you want to see a pretty flame effect.

Do you need to place it on a stand to prevent damage to the floor/carpet/boards?

No, because they don't get hot. They are a decoration, not a heater.

  • How much is shipping to metro WA?

  • +2

    free delivery would be tempting…

  • Personally I don't really see this as a "deal". Bought something similiar a while ago.

  • Can anyone offer advice on how heating costs compare vs. a simple electric heater?
I must say, I like the atmospheric appeal of this type of heater, great during the winter
months while watching a movie or listening to music… MUCH more interesting than a
boring little electric heater… a tad more hazardous though.

    Most interesting - thanks store rep/all !!!

    • These are far more for the look or ambiance than to provide heat. A heater will be far more economical and efficient.

    • My cousin bought a similar burner (actually 2 ) few weeks ago.
He reckons at full "power" it uses around 1.5 liters of ethanol an hour.
He ended up buying ethanol in bulk as it works out much cheaper, although I'm not sure if storing 100 l of ethanol under his bedroom is a good idea…
