  • Items bought before Offer started and paid for now also works (that's where all the gift cards went :)

GOTO PayPal, find the transaction, Click details, you will see a 15% contribution from CBIGSUNDAY courtesy of eBay plus your actual charge to your funding source which makes up the difference. BIG THANK YOU to everyone for their vote. Thank You!

The Story (speculation on my behalf)

One could assume that there is a story behind this as I have seen this on eBay in other countries recently and my assumption is that it’s an effort to drive top line sales and bring the stock price back up due to eBay's challenges in 2014:

Ebay’s stock price was recently at a 52 week low at US$48.06 and has been on a consistent decline since 2014. There are several factors that have influenced this (not in order of impact):

  1. The recent security issue/alerts;
  2. Departure of some key executives;
  3. The infighting with investor Carl Icahn;
  4. Alibaba IPO around the corner with Alibaba posing a real threat to Ebay;
  5. Amazon consistent strength and expansion (they’ll be here next year!);
(perhaps 4&5 should have Australian retail worried too!)
  6. Google Search algorithm changes resulting in lower rankings for ebay listings;
  7. Shut down of eBay Now - same day service;
  8. Some other undisclosed events (speculation).

Either way, I’m happy to support them this weekend and I’ll be buying up on Sunday !!!

The Instructions

  1. Proceed to Ebay Checkout Page: Checkout: Review order
  2. Enter coupon code in redemption code box (bottom right) and press apply
  3. Press Continue and pay with paypal
  4. Verify in the paypal screen/system that the discount was applied before you complete your order.

Hint: If you are buying multiple items then make sure the currencies of the items are the same because you will only get one shot at this coupon.

Please let us know what you are going to buy and share your bargains below please.

Start adding product(s) to your watchlists today and enjoy!

Will the professionals crash the site?

If you do the math then this is a potential $6 000 000 spend from eBay!

    • I didn't know what to get so bought 6 $100 EFTPOS cards, also. $50 saving is $50 saving.
Hopefully I'm eligible for the extra 2% saving from cash rewards.

  • Just worked right now for me.

  • Still going strong guys!

  • -3

It works but when you go to pay from paypal it rejects it.

    • I'm guessing you used the code already? It's a once-off transaction per account!

  • Picked up an 256GB MX100 from Ram City's eBay store for ~$131 all in, very happy since I missed the previous $129 deal! :)

  • I had a pair of everlast and oral b brush heads in my shopping cart for weeks now, was waiting for something to happen,

thank you for making the decision easier!

  • +10

I'm glad I was able to overcome my urge to splurge, and happy with my $0 spend today. :)

  • I'm about to make my purchase. I want to use cashrewards.com.au too to get an extra 2% back. Do I just click on 'go to store', go straight to my cart and purchase?

    • +1

Yes. Just click 'go to store' and checkout.
btw, the credit won't show up immediately.. says it'll take up to 7 days.

  • Last minute shopping folks! They could take it off anytime…

    • Ebay confirmed it'll go until midnight as there are more than enough coupons left.

      • 1.5 hours left! Still thinking about what to buy..

        • just get EFTPOS card and use it on future ozbargain deals (or boring petrol lol)

  • I got me a new lenovo tablet, thanks OP, I just wish ebay did these kind of things more often. Maybe they will consider it after the spike in sales today…hoping.

    • -1

      $645 not $545..

    • It's not that much of a saving compared to their current price, is it? Seems like it's only around $2 less than buying 6 X $100 for $107.95 each.

      • if you buy 6x$100 your profit is 49.2
        while the $600 is $51.75

the best deal was the one sold earlier with profit of $80

        • Yeah, the saving of $2 isn't that much though. Might be worth buying it separately in case you were thinking of giving some away as gifts.

      • +2

most likely the seller know about the game and trying to play it well!

    • done the same with visa now http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/VISA-Gift-Card-600-00-/1613451385…
still not worth it though. I guess it's worth it if you were planning to purchase for maximum savings.

      • yes not really worth it. I didnt buy anything yet not sure what to buy

        • Well, I'll give you my list:
          USB car charger
          USB car phone holder
          Poweradd power bank
          Razor blades
          Beyerdynamic DT 990 PRO Headphones
          Fiio E10 DAC/AMP

          Around $290 all up!

        • which power bank did you choose ?

          Based my decision off: http://www.amazon.com/external-cell-phone-batteries/b/ref=dp…
Third most popular power bank on Amazon so I'm taking my chances. Didn't really do much research on it though. There may be a more reliable bank for buck power bank out there.

        • +1

thanks will add this to my cart

    • +1

I would probably still buy the $100s. Imagine if you lost your wallet. D:

      • anyone knows if there is way to withdraw all the money from the card? like asking coles or kmart for cash out after buying something.
I dont want to keep the money in these cards

        • No, there isn't. No cash out with the Eftpos cards. Anything you return will be credited back to the card. It's like being stuck with a Myers card.

With a Visa card however, you can link it to your Paypal and withdraw all the money from it at a fee.

    Alibaba IPO around the corner with Alibaba posing a real threat to Ebay;

Who the hell would consider Alibaba a worthy successor to Ebay?

That website is a testament to everything wrong with Chinese E-Businesses in a nutshell. The Great Wall of Chinglish, the circa 1990s web design skills of MSY, awkward site navigation, chock full of Chinese scammers, horrendously bad courier choices/prices and shipping times, abhorrent seller communication/feedback, fake feedback/ratings, fake product photos, fake products in general (especially anything electronics/tech-related) and atrocious customer service.

The only service Alibaba provides that is even remotely worth considering is any cheap, plastic sh*t for under $5 dollars (i.e. torches), and if that's really what you want, then you are spoiled for choice when it comes borderline-Triad front companies dishing out that garbage (Tmart, Gearbest, Banggood, Deal Extreme, Aliexpress, etc).

That's not to say Ebay is perfect nor free from the infestation of cheap & nasty Chinese sellers and their borderline-illegal business models; but Alibaba is a worthless experiment and I sincerely hope it goes under spectacularly very soon.

    • How arrogant.. Please do more research before making such comments…

    • Aliexpress has been stealing me away from ebay since my first purchase with them.

eBay is putting up a hard fight here.

I love competition, thank you China.

  • annoying that i just bought a stack of $100's

dont get why they are charging so much extra over the value. i guess they can make extra on them till 3am

  • I have many things I need but I'm too tired to search now on ebay :(

Finally took the plunge and got the 6 eftpos gift cards. Hesitated the whole day but finally did it, although could have done better if I had done it earlier. Still, at least I can say I participated on the day. Lets hope the cashback from cashrewards comes through which would make it more worthwhile.

    • Cashrewards said they may not give it to you if you purchased gift cards.

  • Cheers for the alert to this sale- went a more boring option than most of the posters on here, bought a new pair of Hush Puppie Rochester workshoes. Comfiest mofos I've ever worn, had mine for 3.5 years but they are slowly dying.

Plus they're airport friendly, which helps in my job even thru the most sensitive of scanners..

  • Well I finally settled on,

3 x EB Game Vouchers (Using for Pre-orders and Steam credit)
Protein powers as I needed some, could not bring it to ordering $600 of gift cards only :/

Saved in all $60 but didn't get reamed for postage or now have to spend $600 of cards :)

  • Thanks Op, I purchased some IP cameras from USA. Excellent buy! :-)

  • Thx OP

    Brought:
Termidor SC Termite and Insect Control- 78 Oz.
    $239.95 USD 1 $239.95 USD
    Shipping and handling $61.75 USD
    Other discounts -$45.26 USD
    Total $256.44 USD

  • anyone surprised this havent expired yet?

i guess even with 15% off, the only thing that are popular are gift cards.

    • +2

not surprised at all. 60,000 vouchers is a heck of a lot for a country our size, and most Aussies don't even shop online. Add to that most bought multiple items under the one voucher

  • can't think of anything to buy!!

  • Wish they outright said it is going to be till 12am, would have taken my own sweet time browsing instead of purchasing just one item this morning! Was going to be out the whole day and didn't have time to think of what else to buy earlier. Still, grateful for this post!

    • They said it was going till midnight because they had more than enough coupons left to last the entire day.

      • Yeah I'm aware of that, but I thought the 60k limit would have been easily reached much earlier in the day. So assumed I'd miss out if I didn't use it this morning.

        • It's not a real limit, the 60k, it's just a reference point. Read point 8 of the T&C's

  • I'm having trouble paying with Paypal. Bought the 6 x $100 EFTPOS gift cards. When I enter the coupon code, and then click the button to go to the Paypal login page, I enter my login and password and then it says:

"We're sorry, but we can't send your payment right now"
"Return to merchant and try a different payment method
Unfortunately, we're unable to process your payment using your PayPal account at this time. Please return to the merchant's website and try using a different payment method (if available)"

Anyone know what could be the issue? After midnight, the coupon is going to expire and I might miss out!

    • call PayPal now to sort it out on the phone.

This is a common issue that happens when there is heavy traffic on PayPal.

      • Unfortunately they closed at 7pm :(

  • -6

The deal has now expired. I got maximum reached message when I tried to pay by paypal.

    • +1

      please ignore.

    • you are trying to use it twice on the same PayPal account. C'mon guys, read before posting…

  • Confirmed the code is still working
Getting down to the wire guys
Just get the $600 card it is the easiest $50 you will ever make

Edit: my discount went though… Order was placed at 11.05

    • +1

nothing easier than bank promotions, get $$$ for opening an account

    • +1

      i will pass

    • +3

Not sure if worth the risk of these going MIA in the post or complications from mistakes that may arise with the seller processing 2000 gift cards.

  • have purchased Giftcards for every member in our family. four of us with one account each.

Not sure really how the orders will go from this madness here… But if all goes well and get all our giftcards. Only thing to say.

only issue i've got so far is $1.06 charge extra on my AMEX card coz it is from Paypal USA?? sure happy to live with the fee

    l Love U 'Ozbargain'

  • Has anyone used a different ebay account but the same paypal account?

    • +2

      it will not work

  • +1

How they make profit with those cards? Minus 10% eBay fee, PayPal fee…. Do they have money printing machine? :)

    • Good question

    • the ebay 9.9% is only for the average joe blow.

if you have an ebay store the fee is significantly less

this seller wouldn't have any of these cards on hand they will be most likely getting them tomorrow.
      (just a guess)

they probably have access to some kind of bulk below cost way of getting the cards.

with the bonanza thats in their paypal account they could make some nice coin investing it for even a week

  • Would have been funny if all the prices were locked for today.

  • Thinking of buying this lens

    http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=181444…

is there a way to split the discount into two accounts? Max of $100 in one account?

    • +1

      No

    • +7

actually the best way is to get a half zoom lens and stop being lazy and walk a little closer

      • +3

maybe he cant get any closer to your bedroom window? :p

  • +1

Guys I bought a mobile from Mobileciti and got the $100 discount then I called them up and they refunded the whole amount. I did this twice. One with my account and one with my wife

    • +9

where do you get wife refunds from?

    • When they refund the same paypal transaction the voucher would be refunded too … so you get only the money back you paid.

It would work when they refund via a different way (like credit card or a separate paypal transaction).

  • I just tried to buy a dropcam. Went through to Paypal and then came back with "purchase cannot be made and coupon code has reached its limit". Bugger!!

    • Epic deal ended?

    • Just bought mine 2 mins ago
      still worked for me

    • +1

NO, I just scored an iPad 16gb 4g Cellular brand new Australian Stock and seller for $599 after discount. like 1 min ago.

    • Same here but I think my PayPal account is locked as I tried to revive a 4 year old account..

    • I keep getting this message: X-NDAY: The maximum number of times this Redemption Code can be used has been reached, and it can no longer be used.

      • +1

You must have used once yourself today.

  • +1

Why is this guy charging almost $50
Extra on $600 gift card? Should be only $4.95! Pricing error?

    • +14

No the guy is just a douche.

    • to be fair, the seller's getting hit with ebay and paypal fees.

      • as every seller does, but he just jacked up the price when many ppl eyed on his listings.

  • Does anyone know if you check out as guest multiple times with differnt credit card for on ebay?

  • Confirmed the code is still working… and PayPal is working fine too.

    Got a $600 card for $656 less 15% = $557.6

    $42.4 quick profit

    • So when you click buy it now and then it says "commit to buy". If the deal expires after you press this do you still have to buy it?
$600 gift card would suck at $645.

      • He bought VISA,not EFTPOS.

        • so the amount you pay on paypal isn't final, eh?

    • no cashrewards?

      • No mate. PayPal linked to my AMEX (with QFF points).

Just logged on and saw this deal… took me a few mins to digest what's actually happening as the deal seemed too good to be true… figured there is little risk as eBay have not mentioned anything about the code not working on their site. Decided to go for a quickie before anything changes.

        Can't complain… easy $42.40 money…

The seller is a bit steep with what he charges though… he tailored the item cost to $99 discount (limit of this promotion)…

        • did u pick courier delivery? auspost only covers you for $200. High statistical probability of something going wrong on his end 1000s orders or getting lost in the mail. Anyways good luck
