Was disappointed when I missed this refurbished deal for $168.95 shipped, https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/146618 Myer is now selling this tablet brand new for $199.

Website still shows $349, however instore it scans at $199. I imagine the price should update tomorrow online, where it should have free shipping also. EDIT: As per comment https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/149185?page=1#comment-2056… stock likely not available online so website price may not change and this is likely to be only available instore.

    I read a few conflicting things about sdcards, some said 32,some said 64. I took the 64gb micro sdcard from my SGNote8.0, it works fine…

    This tablet isn't as zippy as the Note8.0 but I regretted not getting a full size tablet almost immediately. And HD screen is nice for running comicrack.

    Also, it has 32gb internal storage as well something i wasn't sure about until

      out the box its 4.2 but can be updated to 4.3, is that right?

        Ahhh… go to settings -> about tablet -> System update.. you'll have to do it about 10 times but it finally gets there.. last update is 346mb..

    I bought one of these yesterday and set it up last night. It's actually a really nice, smooth tablet. Some reviewers comment that the build quality is low, but I really like the design of the tablet. The speakers are loud, the button placement makes logical sense (for landscape use), and the back is nice and grippy. Some things are a bit slow (gallery), but movies look great, internet browsing is definately OK, and general performance is above average. For $199 with 32GB and a FHD screen, this is a bargain.       One thing I am still not clear about is the screen brightness in covered outdoor conditions? Is it useable? I seems this tab is a little down compared to other in luminosity.

        I'll check later this afternoon - I'm at work ATM. The screen doesn't seem as bright or as punchy as my iPad Mini retina, but In doors the brightness on the Asus it is very good (as you'd expect). I also think the iPad is slightly more reflective than the ASUS. (and to be honest, despite the good brightness of the iPad, it's useability outdoors is somewhat limited as well) I also changed the colour setting to 'vibrant' in the ASUS colour app, and this makes everything look a bit nicer. My tab also has a bit of back-light bleed along the bottom edge of the screen (this annoys me), but the only time it is noticeable is at night time when the brightness is cranked right up, And this isn't normal operating conditions for me.

      I think you rang early in the morning yesterday before most of the stores were cleared out, someone upthread said that they're out of stock for online and are even canceling online orders (or maybe that's for those who paid full price?)

      EDIt: rang and online customer service didn't want to drop the price, so ended up ordering for delivery through a store that had stock.

    I rang this morning and they put it through for me manually and I asked them to check warehouse stock and they said they had plenty on hand I didn't want to go through the hassle of having my order cancelled so I asked them to check before i placed my order

          Any one of them is decent. I bought a $10 dollar one, white, fake stitched leather that lets you prop the tablet up. It's very durable.

          I bought 3 of the zippered neoprene pouches off ebay for this tablet.
          Made more for the iPad but it fits well enough and you have a choice of a zillion graphic designs on the sides.
          I don't recall the price now but it wasn't much (from China).

    I forgot to mention, if anyone else out there is paranoid like me about scratches on the glass, I bought an Acer A510 (10") screen protector from EB Games for $4 on clearance (quite a few stores have them buried in the tablet area). This fits over about 85% of the ASUS screen, and will protect it until the more form fitting one arrives from Hong Kong.
