Just got back for dinner. Very full ☺️.
Quite a few of choices. I had salmon, soft shell crab, tuna, prawn sushi.
Decent size. Taste Quite good. Can't complaint for the price

Limited plates, The nice stuff such as sashimi isn't included. Takumi does $2.5 per plate for students in market city. All plates, including non-train orders.
I loved that place when I moved to Sydney 4 years ago. I've been to Takumi a couple of times in the past year with my partner for old times' sake. Have returned extremely disappointed. Everything has become so "meh"; be it quality, portion size or general ambiance of the place. The last time we went there, we decided to go elsewhere after a few plates (even though both were absolutely famished) because the fare was just so lacklustre.
Even places like Makoto & Kz's sushi (in Burwood), which were pretty decent places, have lost their "game".
Must try this place if you are in Melbourne for sushi train
http://www.urbanspoon.com/m/r/71/1732719$3 per dish, wide range of choice (e.g: soft shell crab, scallop, raw salmon, tuna, king fish, prawn on sushi), unique dishes. Sufficient size as well. You can order from pictures on ipad provided in addition to the sushi train.
The only exceptions are pure sashimi for $7 and udon for $10 or something.
Edit: heard that they are from Sydney originally, so you can find one in Sydney as well
plot twist,
conveyor belt going 100 km/hhaha it does feels like it if u're on acid
Just got off the phone and was told $1.80 plate not on Liverpool St Sydney. Disappointed.
This is the worst sushi train I've been to ever in my life. My boyfriend and I went during lunch time and there was hardly any fresh food going around. A few dishes that came out were raw octopus, chicken and prawn kathy, seaweed, take yaks, boring chicken and cucumber rolls, edamame. Sat down for 15 min and not a single sight of salmon/tuna was seen. That says ALOT about a Japanese restaurant. Stayed another 20 mins hoping they would make more food. Only made a deep fried sushi that was terrible. Never ever come here. It is a real disappointment. Even if it is $1.80/plate it is not worth it. Save your money on better quality sushi.
Dont even bother with this place. Not even worth $1.8, no raw fish sushi, the rest arent even fresh.
Score, this is a great price for Sushi Tei (expensive in Singapore). Thanks OP.
Also, Sushizilla in Central is doing $2 sushi plates for only weekends in the month of June. Park in Broadway for easy parking and do a short stroll.
