Ooo vinyl is expensive.
Upwards of $40 for a large piece of plastic in a card sleeve.
Considering how easy it is to freely obtain a digital copy of the music, you're not paying for the music but paying for the physical item.
Does it really cost that much to produce them?
Anyway I hope one day I can afford to build up a collection, but these are luxury products.I saw a doco once about the making of a vinyl record from start to finish. I knew the basics beforehand, but it all turned out to be alot more involved than I had imagined. The chemistry involved, alone, was surprising.
The whole process was quite labour-intensive too - relative to much other manufacturing, even then. I'm pretty sure it remains that way in the handful of plants still operating. Lots of legacy equipment likely still being used and maintained.
